RDC HOLDS SEMINAR ON CLIMATE CHANGE AND ISLAM

Regional Dawah Center, RDC (Sindh) of International Islamic University (IIUI) in collaboration with Islamic Relief Pakistan (IRP) organized a seminar titled “Climate Change and Islam”.

Addressing participants of the seminar, Dr. Syed Aziz-ur-Rehman In-charge RDC, said that it is social and religious responsibility to raise awareness about climate change. He added that presently we are facing numerous physical, mental and environmental dangers, and the various densities in the universe are constantly increasing like water pollution, air pollution, noise pollution and auditory pollution.

Earlier, Saboor Fatima, a researcher at Karachi University said, it was important to protect the environment from harmful substances. “In Islam, we are taught to keep the environment pleasant and clean,” She said that survival of aquatic life and conservation of forests will enhance the natural beauty of the universe. Dr. Shehzad Chana, Coordinator, Regional Dawah Center, said that various universities, institutes and international organizations are trying to promote research on climate change in the world today while, there is still need to do our best to keep our environment clean and natural.

Coordinator, Islamic Relief, Mr. Bashir Ahmed, said besides serving people, Islamic Relief has been working for climate change as well and has organized various seminars and workshops to create awareness among the people. He thanked the organizers of Dawah Academy for organizing a seminar on an important topic in collaboration with Islamic Relief.
The seminar was attended by students of different universities, teachers of madrassas and scholars.
