Welcome to SA – Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Basic Science (SA-CIRBS), Faculty of Sciences, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI).

SA-CIRBS was established in 2014 with a vision and objectives to promote interdisciplinary applied research through combinatorial use chemical, biological and environmental sciences for contributing to the modern age human needs. The current priority focuses are medicinal chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, process chemistry, food chemistry, industrial enzymology, industrial biotechnology, structural and functional biology, and environmental challenges. SA-CIRBS is structured to achieve internationally competitive and nationally relevant quality teaching and applied interdisciplinary research at MS, PhD and post-doctoral levels using interdisciplinary chemical, biological and environmental sciences. Teaching curricula are interdisciplinary and internationally competitive. Whereas, research at SA-CIRBS is aimed to be industrially and economically relevant with international quality and national relevance. SA-CIRBS is equipped with some of the very advanced equipment, custom-made equipped laboratories and animal house. Currently available equipment includes PCR, real-time PCR, ICPMS, HPLC, GCMS, UV, IR, centrifuges, multi-mode readers, nano-drop, incubators, CO2-incubators, microbalances, microtome, lyophilizers, laminar flow-hoods, research and industrial scale fermenters, spray-dryer and FT-IR whereas, further strengthening of the laboratories additional required equipment e.g. mass-spectrometer and NMR are being processed. Currently, SA-CIRBS is located in over 20,000 sq. ft. laboratories whereas brand-new building of over 70,000 sq. ft laboratories are in final stages of construction.

SA-CIRBS gives prime importance to the relevant national and international academic and industrial collaborations, partnerships, ventures, trainings, services, exchanges and projects. This also worth mentioning that we very welcome the proposals and ideas from within the country and from abroad in this regard.
