PROF. DR. SULIMAN ABA AL-KHAIL INAUGURATES PROJECTS AT IIUI, URGES ULEMA TO PLAY ROLE IN FORGING UNITY

IIUI SIGNS MOU ON DISTANCE LEARNING EDUCATION WITH IMAMU

Prof. Dr. Suliman Abdullah Aba Al-Khail, Pro Chancellor, International Islamic University, Islamabad amid his visit to university for the Board of Trustees meeting chaired an international seminar titled “Prospects of Cooperation between Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University (IMAMU) and International Islamic University, Islamabad: Future Vision in the light of Saudi Vision 2030” & “Pakistan Vision 2025” at Faisal Masjid Campus of the university, where an MoU of bilateral cooperation between IIUI and Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, Riyadh and IIUI was also signed, while Pro Chancellor also inaugurated various projects of the university.

Dr. Suliman Abdullah is also Rector of Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, Riyadh.

In his address to the seminar, Dr. Suliman Aba Al-Khail announced that IIUI would be having a bilateral cooperation with IMAMU being a sister university, while Mamnoon Hussain, Centre of Technology will be built at IIUI. The Pro Chancellor also made announcements including initiation of a Hajj program for the bright students of IIUI which he told will be supervised by the Royal Embassy of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He also announced that there will be a summer camp launched for the students of university and both IIUI and IMAMU will be working together in promotion of language through varsity’s Arabic centre dedicated to promotion of Arabic language. Dr. Suliman also announced that IMAMU and IIUI would also jointly launch training courses for the judges and exchange of delegation between faculties of both sides will also take place in future. He also announced that a centre, with joint efforts of both universities would be established which will work for dissemination of Islam’s message of peace and moderation.

In his speech on the occasion, he said that atmosphere of hatred, differences and sectarianism must be discouraged and Islamic scholars must put maximum efforts to develop a counter narrative to deal with misconceptions disseminated against Islam by the negative elements. He said that IMAMU and IIUI, as per desires of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and President, Mamnoon Hussain would be working together to produce a human resource which will be blended with moderate teachings of Islam. He furthered that the seminar was organized to explore horizons of bilateral cooperation in the light of vision of Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.

The seminar was also attended by Ambassador of Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, renowned Islamic scholars, Rector IIUI, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai,  President IIUI, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, Vice Presidents of the university, Deans and Directors.

On the occasion, an MoU of bilateral cooperation on distance learning between IIUI and IMAMU was also signed under which IMAMU will establish a centre of distance learning education and bilateral exchange of delegations will be initiated as well.

Later, IIUI Pro Chancellor, IIUI inaugurated various projects including Directorate of Distance Learning, Psychology Lab, International Centre for promotion of Arabic, renovated complex of Islamic Research Institute and website of Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue.

Earlier, in his address to the seminar, Rector IIUI, Dr. Masoom said that Muslim world has great expectations from IIUI and university is focused on having academic linkages with educational institutions across the world. He called upon Muslim world to invest in education and develop educational curricula in the light of Islamic language. He thanked IMAMU Rector and IIUI Pro Chancellor for assuring support and cooperation and said that both universities would be working as per his desires to get maximum output. He urged that Pakistani and Saudi universities should learn from the experiences of each other especially in the field of science and technology. He elaborated that IIUI is striving to produce human resource which will be having quality education integrated with teachings of Islam and this objective will help in establishing a counter narrative.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh, the IIUI President said on the occasion that IIUI is proud of having such a prudent leadership of Dr. Suliman who has a vision to nurture Muslim youth as per contemporary requirements.  He said that the seminar was focused on further strengthening Pak- Saudi vision of education and explore now ways of bilateral cooperation between both universities. He also hailed IMAMU for continuous support of the university and apprised the chief guest and participants reading university’s activities, initiatives and role in addressing the contemporary challenges where he also mentioned recently organized moots, seminars and dialogue sessions to counter violence and promote Islam’s message of peace. The IIUI President also thanked IMAMU delegation for visiting IIUI and having meeting to find bilateral points of cooperation. He also thanked Custodian of Two Holy Mosques for his maximum support and assistance to IIUI.

At the end, university souvenirs and shields were presented to IIUI Pro chancellor by varsity Rector and President.
