IIUI HOLDS 3RD NATIONAL WORKSHOP ON POWER ELECTRONICS AND RENEWABLE INTEGRATION

The International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) organized a 3rd national workshop on Power Electronics with Renewable Integration (NWPERI) which was attended by more than 100 participants including engineering professionals, experts and students.

The 3rd NWPERI is a part of series of events & lectures in honor of one week-long visit of Prof. Muhammad H. Rashisd to IIUI. He is an Emeritus Professor at Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Florida Polytechnic University, USA. He has authored more than 24 books in electrical engineering. He is a fellow of many engineering societies including IEEE (Life Fellow) and IET (UK).

The workshop was organized by department of Electrical Engineering of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) of the university which discussed vital topics of the power electronics and renewable integration such as Grid Free Living, Photovoltaic Solar Technology Status and Research Challenges. During the workshop renowned engineering experts and scholars delivered lectures who included Prof. Dr. Muhammad H. Rashid (USA),Prof. Nauman Ahmad Zafar (LUMS), and Prof. Dr. Ahmed ShujaSyed (Executive Director CAEPE, IIUI).

A panel discussion and interactive session on Innovation & Commercialization of Power Electronic Based Renewable Energy Technology was also organized at the workshop that was also attended by Prof. Dr. MasoomYasinzai (Rector IIUI), Prof. Dr. Aqdas Naveed Malik (VP HSR), Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amir (Dean FET) and Dr. Suheel Abdullah Malik (Chairman DEE).

The Convener NWPERI, Dr. Suheel Abdullah Malik said that workshop was aimed at delivering comprehensive lectures on power electronics and renewable integration which will be applicable in research and development. He added that the workshop provided an opportunity to young participants to meet the experienced and highly qualified professionals where they shared knowledge and innovative ideas. He hailed efforts of Chief Organizers Engr. Baber Khan and Engr. Tila Muhammad, and other organizers for the hard work and excellent management of the workshop.
