FSS INITIATES COMMUNITY WELL-BEING OUT-REACH PROGRAMS

In connection with out-reach community linkages programs designed by Faculty of Social Sciences International 5Islamic University, Islamabad, a team of faculty members and student from department Sociology and department of Psychology of the university visited an old home named Aafiat and Gehwara (Homes for Abandoned Babies) in Rawalpindi run by Social Welfare Department Government of the Punjab.

Students and Faculty member gifted packs of daily use items to the residents of Aafiat.  Officer In-charge of both institutions briefed students about the functioning and admission criteria. Students asked meaningful questions and get themselves aware in the area of gerontology and day carecenter, emerging areas in sociology in Pakistan.

Dr. Farhan Navid Yousaf, Mr. Akhlaq Ahamd, Dr. Hazir Ullah (Department of Sociology) and Mr. Mazhar Bhati (Department of Psychology) had sessions with old age people. The Department of Sociology offered its cooperation to Aafiat and Gehwara.

Earlier, Senior District Officer Social Welfare Rawalpindi warmly welcomed the team members and lauded the efforts of IIUI for taking this initiative and expressed his keen interest in developing strong linkages in the future regarding various activities
