Department
of Sociology organized a seminar on Gender and Human Rights at female campus of the university. It was addressed by Ms. Nageena Akhtar Director (P & R) from the Ministry of Human Right.
She discussed women’s rights and explained the notion of gender equality in reference to United Nations Reforms. She highlighted the significance of CEDAW in promoting gender equality worldwide and particularly in Pakistan.
Dr. Rabia Gul, Acting Chairperson Department of Sociology thanked the speaker for her time and input. Earlier, in her welcome address she traced the concept of gender equality historically and commented on its need for a more gender balanced society. The seminar was actively participated by different batches of MSc and BS students. Certificates were distributed to students of MSc II at the end.
