NAB is closely working with Ministry of Education for incorporating anti-corruption theme in the curriculum from class I to X, eradication of corruption is essential for strengthening the country’s economy, said National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry on Tuesday.
He was addressing a seminar titled ‘Role of Youth in Eradication of Corruption’ arranged at Faisal Masjid campus of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) by varsity’s Faculty of Shariah and Law.
“Corruption is root cause of every evil and it has become one of the greatest challenges of the modern era. Some have called it as grave as terrorism since the nexus between the two is quite unholy” said Qamar Zaman Chaudhry.

outh is future of Pakistan that make up over 60 per cent of country’s population so their role is crucial for eradicating corruption. Chairman NAB said corruption was far more prevalent in developing countries as compared to the developed ones and it badly impacts society, governance and youth. He was of the view that economy and social development of Pakistan has suffered immensely from the detrimental effects of corruption & terrorism. He hailed the role of army in fight against terrorism and said that NAB and other anti-corruption agencies were working to curb the menace of corruption through various designed strategies.

g positive behaviour and good deeds in their surroundings.
Students must play a pivotal role in promoting awareness and taking steps for eradication of corruption to make the country prosperous, he added. “We have also signed an MOU with Higher Education Commission of Pakistan. Under the MoU, NAB and HEC are undertaking joint efforts for sensitizing the youth against corruption” he told.
He urged all the universities to join hands to eliminate corruption and suggested that IIUI students should launch an anti corruption club for which NAB will provide every possible cooperation and support.
IIUI Rector, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai said on the occasion that corruption is a global phenomena which has crippled the societies. He said that Youth is the best utilizable source to get rid of the menace of corruption. The IIUI Rector said the every year 5% of global GDP goes in bribery which he termed unfortunate and urged the youth to step forward against corruption by applying Islam’s message of transparency. He assured that IIUI would be found in leading ranks against the corruption and such activities would continue from varsity platform.
Earlier, Vice President IIUI, Dr. Muhammad Munir Khan thanked NAB and IIUI administration for support amid arrangements of the seminar and vowed to continue this cause in future.
The event was also attended by Director General NAB Aliya Rashid, Director General IIUI Khalid Mehmood Raja, other high officials of both organizations, varsity’s Deans, faculty members and students.
