The Stude nts Advisor office organized a one day seminar on “Media Ethics and Ethical Journalism” at the male campus in which prominent journalists participated.
The focus of activity was to analyze role of Media in Pakistan and how it can work as a fourth pillar of state with ethical standards in place. Dr.H.Ghufran, Director Students Advisor chaired the session and welcomed the speakers. In his introductory remarks he highlighted the importance of Ethical Journalism in Pakistan. Senior Journalist Tahir Khan, talked about infleunce of media in politics and highlited that Media in Pakistan got key responsibility to manage the inflow of information.
Senior Journalist Hassan Khan also focussed on Media’s vibrant role as the fourth pillar of the state. Mr. Ihsan Tipu, ex-New York Times reporter emphasized on the role of Ethical Journalism and said media personnel in Pakistan must go for objective reporting and sound analysis of the situation. Senior Research Associate of IRS, Mr. Aarish Khan said the media must work for unbaised reporting and always present true picture of the events.
In his concluding remarks, Dr. Ghufran, Director Students Advisor, thanked the audience and the panelists and concluded the session on a note that the road to progress is through free, fair, vibrant media with ethical standards in place.
