A seminar titled “Iqbal’s Philosophy and the Youth” was organized by the Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD) of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) in collaboration with the Department of Urdu (Faculty of Languages and Literature), Politics International Relations, History and Pakistan Studies (Faculty of Social Sciences).
Speaking on the occasion, Professor Dr. Abdul Rahman, Vice President (Academics & Examinations) thanked the respected speakers and requested similar events to be held at IIUI’s new campus for broader student engagement.
Keynote speakers included Dr. Talib Hussain Sial, Dr. Humaira Shahbaz, and Dr. Saleem Mazhar, who are renowned Iqbal scholars and researchers.
Dr. Talib Hussain Sial (former Executive Director IRD) linked Iqbal’s European experiences to contemporary times emphasizing the importance of maintaining one’s self-identity.
Dr. Humaira Shahbaz highlighted Iqbal’s Persian poetry and its significance for today’s youth. Dr. Saleem Mazhar discussed Iqbal’s philosophical ideas in light of the Quran, positioning him as a global philosopher. On this occasion, Dr. Saira Batool moderated the session, and Aqdas Hashmi presented Iqbal’s poetry.
The seminar concluded with remarks from the Vice President Dr. Abdul Raheman who appreciated all the organizing departments including IRD IIUI for conducting the seminar valuable for the future researchers and scholars.
