SEMINAR ON HEALTH AND ENVIRONMENT HELD AT IIUI

Department of Environmental Science, Faculty of Basic & Applied Sciences, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized a seminar on health and environment in collaboration with National Council of Writers, Pakistan (NCW) at Faculty Auditorium of New Campus of the University.

The activity was organized in order to update the knowledge of the students about health and environment and promote authorship.

Professor Dr. Muhammad Umar (Sitaria-e-Imtiaz), Vice Chancellor, Rawalpindi Medical University, Rawalpindi and Chief Executive, Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Hospital and District Headquarters, Hospital, Rawalpindi was the Chief Guest of the event.

On the occasion, launching ceremony of the book entitled “Bemareyon Ke Haqeeqat-the reality of diseases” by Prof. Dr. Intekhab Alam, Director, Lady Reading Hospital, Peshawar, was also part of the seminar.

Prof. Umar lauded effort of the Prof. Intekhab for writing such a Book “reality of diseases” for counseling of people and said that this book is a true spirit of ethics and professionalism. He further said that research culture should be promoted in the universities as research is the basic lesson of our religion. He said on the occasion that there is a deep relation of Environment and disease and socio economic issues should be addressed in the present scenario.

President National Council of Writers (NCW, Pakistan) Mr. Nayar Sarhadi briefed that promotion of book culture inculcating commitment among writers for betterment of the society and giving patronage to the emerging writers with a motto of reaching the unreached is the main objective of National Council of Writers, Pakistan (NCW), he added that NCW is a totally non-political, literary and educational organization which is comprised of renowned journalists, poets, eminent scholars, and writers having several branches across the country.

He focused that book reading should be the routine habit of all. We are all plunged into the social evils due to family problems. He told that crux of the book titled “Bemareyon Ke Haqeqat-the reality of diseases” is to highlight such family issues and this book is a complete guide for our life.

Earlier, Dr.Prof. Dr. Ibrar Shanwari, Chairman, Department of Environmental Science briefed about NCW efforts for providing support in organizing this seminar at IIUI and thanked to all representatives of NCW and participants of the seminar. He said that previously the department has organized an international seminar on Eastern Medicines in which HEC Chairman also participated. He further told that the Department of Environmental Science, FBAS, IIUI is intending to establish “Department of Eastern Medicine” in near future.

He further said that Socio Economic Environment is the need of the time while medicine and health sector are playing key role in this regard. Dr. Shanwari also thanked faculty members and students of the Department present in the seminar. In the end Shields were presented to the Chief Guest and guest of honors.
