INSTITUTIONS MUST COME FORWARD FOR SOCIAL WELFARE, DR. MASOOM YASINZAI

OGDCL AWARDS 25 SCHOLARSHIPS TO IIUI STUDENTS AMOUNTING 37 MILLION

 

Dr. Masoom Yasinzai has said that universities are responsible to set endowment fund to fulfill the educational expenditure of talented needy students. He urged corporate institutions to offer scholarships to students of higher studies under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs as setting education on top priority.

He was addressing the scholarship certificates distribution ceremony under first phase of CSR program of Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) in which 25 IIUI students from different departments were granted educational scholarships of total amounting 37 million till completion of their degrees.

Mr. Zahid Mir, Managing Director OGDCL was the guest of the ceremony while Mr. Adur Rouf General Manager CSR, Mr. Waseem Hashmi Advisor HEC, IIUI Acting President Dr. Bashir Khan, Vice Presidents Dr. Aqdas Naveed Malik, Dr. Mohammad Munir, Director, Deans and members of scholarship committee were present on the occasion.

In his address, Dr. Masoom said education is only way forward for progress and development for any society. He further stressed the students to add their knowledge as the only papers of degrees are not guarantee of success. Rector IIUI urged students to pay back fruits of their success to family, respective area and for country as they are luckiest ones. He was of the views that Higher Education Commission (HEC) plays very significant role for the uplift of standard of education in Pakistan.

While speaking to audience, Mr. Zahid Mir said that none of society got progress without education and education is the only key and shortcut of success; he urged students to excel in their particular disciplines and achieve high target.

He said OGDCJ has put education on top priority in its CSP program and in first phase offered scholarships to those needy and talented students particularly who belong to functional and operational areas of OGDCL. Mr. Mir vowed to increase number of scholarships and amount in upcoming phases so the more the students can get benefits from it.

He also advised students to set their destination high and achieve it with devotion and hard work. Dr. Muneer also addressed the students and shared success story of IIUI and threw light on facilities and peaceful milieu which IIUI is providing students.
