US hegemony is nearing to end; Dr. Chandra Muzaffar
His book “Muslims Today: Changes within, Challenges Without” also launched at IIUI
The International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) organized Book Launching Ceremony of renowned scholar Dr. Chandra Muzaffar from Malaysia’s book “Muslims Today: Changes within, Challenges Without”. Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik, Rector IIUI presided over the ceremony. Dr. Chandra said that the youth of Muslim Ummah need to do more work significantly to create their impact on other segments of the society. He said that youth are the back bone of Muslim society. According to Dr. Chandra the western world has imposed hegemony to create unrest in the Muslim world for which their controlled economy is responsible.

Dr. Chandra said that the question of injustice is basically responsible for some of the grave challenges facing human beings today. He added that it will be appropriate that the relevance of the Quranic message of “Tauhid” may be revived. As a unifying worldview, Tauhid contains at least five important beliefs: –

  • Common spiritual origin, mission and destiny of the whole of humanity.
  • Organic unity of existence of the immanent and the transcendent, of life and death, of this world and the hereafter, of man and nature, of individual and community, of man and woman, of the material and the spiritual.
  • Human beings as vicegerent or trustee of Allah almighty on this planet.
  • there are universal moral values and principles which are beneficial to the whole of humankind.
  • human beings, both at the individual and at the collective level, possess universal rights and responsibilities, roles and relationships which help to nurture and nourish a holistic way of life.

He further said that militancy in the Muslim world is due to injustices. Militancy in Iraq & Afghanistan has forced US forces to decide for withdrawal. According to the US forces the militants are visionless. He also spoke on hegemonic attitude of US and predicted that it will no longer live on this earth. He quoted various examples from the history when super powers of old times vanished and were sent to the dust bin of history. Like wise in Chandra Muzaffar’s view US has to face similar fate very soon. Dr. Chandra Muzaffar added that China is getting more and more power to play a leading role in the world. He also appreciated Iranian determination in this regard. He hoped that Pakistani youth shall continue their march on same pattern.

Prof. Fateh Muhammad Malik in his presidential address said that Dr. Chandra in his book has very simply described about the principle of “Touheed”. He further said that the “Touheed” is only pillar of Islam and Muslims of the world need to unite themselves according to this universal principle given by Islam. He said especially at this time of challenge, uncertainty and conspiracies, the Muslims are in dire need of adopting these thinking of Dr. Chandra Muzaffar.

Dr. Anwar Hussain Siddiqui in his introductory remarks said that the Islamic university always welcomes to hold such kind of activities for spreading knowledge and awareness about true face of Islam in the society. He said that after study of Dr. Chandra’s book, it is revealed that Muslims can use their youth as messengers of peace and harmony not only in their societies but all over the world as well.

The conference also adopted and approved following recommendations for changing the culture of science and technology in Pakistan. The recommendations said:

i). Increase the priority for funding of renewable energy projects among financing institutions and for bilateral aid programs, especially those programs that will lead to sustainable development based on indigenous resources. These programs will principally increase the flow of technology and financial resources.

ii). Encourage private sector investment and involvement in the programmes for training and implementation of power generation and renewable energy problems. Promotion is also required to establish the joint-venture manufacturing plants for local production of renewable energy systems.

iii). Establishment of federal and provincial centers of excellence for renewable energy, to provide training, technology support, and resources databases appropriate to the local needs.

iv). Increase R&D funds for renewable, eliminate subsidies on conventional energy, and reduce barriers that exist for the introduction of new different (especially small and distributed) energy systems.

v). Review and update economic decision-making methodology to include the external impacts of the options under consideration.

vi). There is need for amendments in NEPRA Act, Rules, Regulations based upon the issues to promote renewable energy. It may be discussed and reviewed on an appropriate government level. NEPRA should also have competent professionals and future vision of renewable and novel power generation systems to guide the nation.

Dr. Muhammad Afzal Chief organizer of the conference also addressed the closing ceremony. On this occasion Akbar Industries, Havelian was awarded gold medal for “Hydro Electrical Project”.
