IIU Achievements During Last Four Years

The achievements of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) during the last four years under the leadership of Dr. Anwar Hussain Siddiqui, President IIUI are presented here.

Number of Students before 2006 was 9060 now it is 22000, whereas Number of Female Students before 2006 was 3000 now it is 9000, Number of Teachers before 2006 was 300 now it is 600, Number of PhDs before 2006 was 87 now it is 170, Number of Teaching Departments before 2006 was 29 now it is 42, University Budget before 2006 was 1.00 billion now it goes upto 2.5 billions, Number of computers before 2006 was 636 now there are 2206 computers, Number of Computer Labs before 2006 was negligible now there are 45labs, there was no Engineering Labs before 2006 now there are 18, Number of Research Papers in scholarly Journals/Books before 2006 was 85 now it is 785, Participation in International Conferences before 2006 was negligible now 150, Number of Research Articles in ISI Journals recognized by HEC before 2006 was negligible now it is 50 and before 2006 there was no IIU School System now there are 40-42 schools.

Physical Development:

During these four years following were added: –

4 new hostels, 5 academic blocks (2 science blocks 1 engineering block), Dawah Centre and hostel, canteen for girls and shopping centre, gymnasium for girls, students activities centre, an impressing administrative building, beginning of the Grand Mosque, New banking facilities and ATM’s, Transport fleet from 88 to 131, New road network, Infrastructure development, horticulture development.

Future Plans:

Soon IIUI is going to start faculty of medicine and hospital, grand mosque project is also in progress. IIUI is trying to jump in the HEC Ranking. To achieve the fool proof security measurements better security and construction of boundary wall is under discussion. As well as new academic blocks, new hostels for boys and girls, new academic departments like civil engineering and chemistry teachers and employees housing is also included in the future plans. Meanwhile Pakistan Post has issued a commemorative stamp to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of the International Islamic University, Islamabad. Inauguration ceremony of the commemorative stamp was held at New Campus of the University. Fazl-e-Sattar Khan, Additional Director General, Pakistan Post was the chief guest on the occasion while Dr. Anwar Hussain Siddiqui President IIUI presided over the ceremony. Faculty members, administrative officers, staff members and a large number of students also attended the inauguration ceremony. 

Fazl-e-Sattar Khan in his speech said that stamps play role of ambassadors of the countries in the world. The Pakistan post has realized importance of the Islamic University and published the commemorative stamp to acknowledge its services for imparting quality education.

Dr. Anwar Hussain Siddiqui said that the university has now entered a new era of internationalizing its message through Pakistan Post.

Launching ceremony of the commemorative stamp was also held at the female campus of the university. Syed Muzammil Hussain, Deputy Director Public Relations of the university conducted the ceremony. Major Haq Nawaz, Deputy Post Master General, Pakistan Post was also present on the occasion.
