IIUI HOLDS INTL. CONFERENCE ON “EMERGING ROLE OF WOMEN IS MUSLIM SOCIETIES: OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES”
Senator Raja Muhammad Zafar ul Haq said, Islam is staunch supporter of women rights, some forces trying to portray it as violator of women rights which is baseless effort while Muslim women have an exemplary role in Muslim societies, right from the start of its history.

He expressed these views while presiding inaugural ceremony of a two-day conference on “Emerging role of women is Muslim Societies: Opportunities and Challenges”, held at Faisal Mosque campus of the International Islamic University Islamabad. The ceremony was also attended by Ex Minister for women education and development, Sudan, Dr. Suad al Faith, who was also chief guest of the ceremony, while Vice Chancellor Riphah international University Dr. Anis Ahmed, Vice President (Academics) Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed, Wife of President IIUI Muzna Yousif Al-Draiweesh, Director female campus IIUI, Dr. Zaitoon begum, Incharge Dawah Centre for Women IIUI Shagufta Omar and experts and women rights’ activists from Sudan, Egypt, Indonesia, Russia, Hungary and all across the world also attended the ceremony.

Raja Zafar ul Haq said Islam is the religion which gave right of vote to women thousands years ago but now west claims women rights as its own product. He added we would have to devise a strategy to make our women empowered because some forces while using their influence in Islamic countries, disseminating the gesture that following Islam is putting the women in trap of violation of their rights. Senator Zafar ul Haq said gender discrimination does exist in every society but implementing Islamic laws in a society can allow women to play positive role in building a prosperous and developed society. He termed the recent conference a milestone for protection of women rights and lauded the international participation of large number of women in the conference. He urged the media to play its positive role for the protection of women rights and portray them within the limits described by Islam. He urged the women participants to adopt Islamic values instead of western thoughts while saying they should be proud of being Muslim women.

Dr. Suad al Faith, in her inspiring speech stated Muslims are being killed and facing genocide in various regions of the world and Muslim women are facing many severe contemporary challenges. We can solve our problems by being submissive to Allah, we need unity among our ranks, she added. “Women have to get united for our rights and show the world that neither we are weak nor our religion has any deficiency.

Dr. Anis Ahmed, in his keynote address, said societies which negated the role of women faced failure; we can get prosperity and progress by giving women appropriate participation in the field of economy, politics. He added that we are following western paradigm despite of having best paradigm of Islam which makes the women empowered with knowledge, while western paradigm is all about economics and lacks the ethical values. He urged the women to take keen interest in research and study the religion to know about their rights.

Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed, in his welcome address said that we have accepted the women rights issue as western gift which is awful attitude while its indigenous roots lies in house of Islam. “Islam was the force which brought women empowerment and Islam itself is the force that will bring women empowerment today” he added. He urged the Muslims to forge unity among the Muslims to fight against the propaganda being disseminated against them. He said we would have to create more space for women in our societies while giving them proper opportunities to lead the Islamic movements which may lead to constructive results in the society.

Theme of the first day of conference was dedicated to “women empowerment” whereas Mrs. Muzna Yousif Al-Draiweesh was the guest of honour of the first session of the conference. During the first session, various foreign experts and workers delivered lectures on the topics like Hijab, Fictional Representation of Pakistani women’s struggle for empowerment, electoral gender quotas and women’s leadership. During second session topics regarding role of Muslim women at national and international level, gender politics, and media’s exploitation of the global Muslim community were discussed. Dr. Zakria Bashir, Prof. of Islamic Philosophy, Sudan, Russian Journalist Liudmila Mishna, Ph. D. Scholar from Hungary Asli Karaca, Prof. Rufaida Al Habash from Al-Indluse Institute of Islamic Studies, Syria, Chair Person Kashmir Women Forum Shamim Shawl, Member National Assembly of Pakistan Shahida Akhtar, Incharge Dawah Centre For Women, IIUI Shagufta Umar, Jawairiyah Faisal Khan from United Kingdom, famous women activist from Turkey Huda Kaya spoke on the subject. The conference will conclude on Friday, November 29, 2013.

DELEGATION OF INFORMATION SERVICES ACADEMY VISITS IIUI
An eight member delegation of under training officers from Information Services Academy (ISA) visited International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) and called on Director General (AF&P) IIUI Gulzar Ahmad Khwaja. In this occasion, Gulzar Ahmad Khwaja briefed the delegation about history of university, its core purpose and goals in detail.

He also made them aware about the academic plans, programmes and achievements of the university in the field of academia. Earlier, the delegation also visited Department of Media and Communication Studies of IIUI. The delegation was received by the head of department Dr. Zafar Iqbal. He also warmly welcomed the officers and threw light on the performance of department. They also visited TV and Radio studio being run by the department of Media and Communication Studies.

 

 

INTL. CONFERENCE ON “EMERGING ROLE OF WOMEN IN MUSLIM SOCIETIES” TO START TODAY
International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) to hold inaugural ceremony of international women conference on “Emerging Role of Women in Muslim Societies : Opportunities and Challenges” today (Thursday), November 27, 2013 at 09:30 a.m. at Quaid-e-Azam Auditorium, Faisal Masjid Campus of the University. The conference is being organized by Iqbal International Institute For Research & Dialogue of IIUI, in collaboration with Riphah International University and International Muslim Women Union. Senator Raja Zafar ul Haq will chair the inaugural ceremony of the conference while Vice President (Academics) IIUI Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad and Vice Chancellor Riphah International University, Dr. Anees Ahmed will also address in the opening ceremony of the conference. Renowned women rights’ activists all across the world and Pakistan will also participate in the inaugural ceremony.

Iqbal International Institute for Research & Dialogue (IIIRD) of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), in collaboration with Riphah International University and International Muslim Women Union, is going to organize a two-day international conference on “ Emerging Role of Women in Muslim Societies : Opportunities and Challenges”. Conference will be attended by women rights’ activists and experts all across the world and renowned political and social figures of the country.

The conference would start on November 28 (Thursday) at Old Campus, Quaid e Azam auditorium of IIUI, where Vice President (Academics) and Executive Director IIIRD Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed would deliver welcome address. Vice Chancellor Riphah International University Dr. Anis Ahmed would deliver key note address while Senator Raja Zafar ul Haq would also speak on the occasion. The session will be chaired by Khalid Rahman, Director General Institute of Policy Studies, Islamabad. Topics regarding role of Muslim women at national and international level, gender politics, and media’s exploitation of the global Muslim community will be discussed in the session.

On the second day of the conference, Dargam Nadia from Algeria, Former Chief Council of Muslim Women Scholar Dr. Nabeelah Lubis from Indonesia and Former Parliamentarian from Iran Khanum Zohre Illahiyan would deliver valuable lectures on the subject. Second day of the conference would discuss the themes “Educational Opportunities and preferences” and “women at work” where topics including women dominance in medical colleges of Pakistan, Muslim women and intellectual revolution and many other valuable issues will be discussed by the experts. The concluding ceremony of the conference would be presided by Rector IIUI Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai while Pro. Chancellor Riphah International University Hassan Mohammad Khan, Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad and Director Female Campus IIUI Dr. Zaitoon Begum would also spoke on the occasion.

IIUI TO HOLD 3 DAY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME FOR UNIVERSITY TEACHERS
The department of Education (Female Campus), International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) is going 3-day Professional Development Programme for university teachers (PDPUT) from 27 to 29 Novembers, 2013 here at Central Library of the university.

Malik Nadeem Hassan will be the resource person for the programme. He is currently working as Management Consultant at Maple Management Services. This workshop is continuation of the series of PDPUT programmes. The theme of this workshop is “Academic Planning and Management”.

MR. ELHADI MOHAMED ADAM COMPLETES PHD IN ARABIC
Mr. Elhadi Mohamed Adam Student of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has completed his Ph. D degrees in “Arabic”. Topic of his thesis was “The Image of Nile in 20th Century Sudanese Poetry (Analytical Technical Study)”, while Prof. Dr. Ahmad Darwaish, Cairo University, Egypt and Prof. Dr. Ahmad Abdul Jawad Mohamad Okasha, Al-Azhar University, Asyoot, Egypt were foreign evaluators of his thesis.

 

 

 

 

IIUI STUDENTS SHINE IN EME OLYMPIAD 2013
Students of Mechanical Engineering of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) brought fame to their institution by clinching 1st positions in “Clash of Titans” in EME Olympiad 2013, organized by EME College Rawalpindi which was held at NUST.

Talented squad of IIUI Students including Hassan Nawaz, Muzammil Zafar and Saad Ahmer participated in the event. Rector IIUI Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and President IIUI Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh have congratulated the students of the university on their success.

WORKSHOP AT IIUI
STUDENTS GUIDED HOW TO AVOID PLAGIARISM, USE “TURNITIN”
A workshop at International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) discussed journals recognized by Higher Education Commission (HEC), Plagiarism, its reasons and use of the software “Turnitin” which detects the plagiarized material.

The workshop was titled as “Awareness of Modern Research Procedure, HEC Recognized Journals and Plagiarism Policy”, which was conducted by Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of the university in collaboration of HEC. Research students were informed and guided by Acting Director QEC, Dr. Irshad Ahmed Arshad in his valuable lecture regarding the categories of the journals and requirements and measures to make research a valued work. Three sessions of the workshop discussed the HEC recognized journals, steps to avoid plagiarism and demonstration of the software “turnitin”.

The participants explored the ways to make their research published in a professional way while they were apprised to make the acknowledgement of data necessary to avoid bitter consequences.

“Over quoted material may fall in plagiarism and to avoid the data detection as plagiarized one should rephrase, quote and summarize the data in ones own words” Dr. Irshad maintained. He added ineffective note taking like mentioning not the source and copy paste may put the researcher in “Plagiarism trap”.

Students were also informed that publication process of their research could also be done by their own selves. Participants raised various question while few also pointed out flaws in the detection software and took guidance from the experts about their problems being faced in research.

Lectures by Head department of Bioinformatics and Biotechnology Dr. Jabar Zaman Khattak and Assistant Director QEC Imran ullah Marwat were termed as valuable addition to the knowledge by the participants. Dr. Irshad Ahmed Irshad also vowed on the occasion to conduct such more workshops in future regarding research.

LECTURE AT IIUI
UMER IBRAHIM TERMS MODEL OF MU’AMLAT AS ALTERNATE TO CAPITALISM
Islamic research Institute (IRI) of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), organized a lecture titled “The Model of Mu’amlat; an alternate to capitalism“. Renowned scholar of Islamic economics Umer Ibrahim Vadillo from Malaysia was honorable guest speaker, DDG Islamic Research Institute Dr Sohail Hassan and large number of students also attended the lecture. Umer Ibrahim’s thought provoking lecture discussed existing economic and banking systems and compared it to Islamic system.

He criticized the capitalist economic system and termed it as a cruelty to the poor while saying it is based on Riba which is the core fault, failure and cause of ruining the fabric of society. Umer Ibrahim cleared the fact that inflation in the world is only due to corrupt paper money system that is also purely based on Riba and Allah clearly forbade man to restrain form Riba. He stressed on one currency that is gold and silver coin which is also omen of unity of Muslim Ummah. “The only gold currency can be favourable to the consumers and sustain the stability of market by averting fluctuation and price hiking, gold and silver coin can be the best alternate to paper money”, He said. Umer Ibrahim maintained that money actually was with mutual consent but paper money was the only monopoly of the cruel system of capitalist that was utterly harmful to society. He said existing system has lot of tools and bates to capture and exploit the poor people of the world.

In his vote of thanks, Dr Sohail Hassan paid gratitude to the worthy guest speaker for sparing his precious time. He said the utmost need of the time is to follow the foot prints of Last Prophet (PBUH) for the prosperous and stable society. Dr. Sohail stressed to implement Islamic banking and economic system practically.

IIUI BRIGHT STUDENTS PROUD OF MUSLIM UMMAH, SAYS DR. AL-DRAIWEESH
President International Islamic University Islamabad, (IIUI) Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh said on Thursday IIUI is unique international institution which focuses on providing quality education to its students according to Islamic teachings and contemporary requirements.

He expressed these views while addressing a ceremony, organized in honour of the students who took positions in games and co-curricular activities. Director General AF&P Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja, Students’ Advisor Dr. Safeer Awan, Deans and Directors of university and a large number of students also attended the ceremony.

“Talented and bright students of IIUI are not only proud of our institution but for whole Muslim Umma, these are the people who posses ability to lead us towards the way of progress and prosperity”, Dr. Al-Draiweesh said. He urged the students to devote themselves for the cause of university, Pakistan and Umma while asking them to refrain from violence and negative attitudes. He added “with your high characteristic values and actions let the world know that Muslims are the people of peace”. He said students are the ultimate focus of Ummah, they term them as solution to their problem, so that they should build their personalities according to the life of Prophet (PBUH) and work for the betterment of society.

He assured the participants that they would be provided every available facility for education. He lauded the role of responsible authorities who conduct co curricular and sports activities while advising them to arrange programs which may result in addition to knowledge of students.

Earlier, Dr. Safeer Awan while congratulating the successful students lauded the efforts of President IIUI who keenly focuses on sports and co-curricular activities of the students. A documentary was presented in the ceremony, which clinched first position in Lahore during a university competition, which was made by mass communication students. At the end, certificates among the winners of various competitions and their teachers were distributed by the worthy president.

81ST TRAINING PROGRAM FOR ARMED FORCES’ AIMA CONCLUDES

A three-month long 81st training course for Aima of Armed forces at International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI), organized by its Dawah Academy, concluded here at Faisal Mosque Campus of the university on Thursday.
President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh was the chief guest of the concluding ceremony while it was also attended by Director General AF&P Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja, Deputy Director General Dawah Academy Dr. Imtiaz Zafar, Director General Islamic Research Institute Dr. Sohail Hassan, various university officers, teachers and 45 participants of the course.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Al-Draiweesh said Aima are the appropriate people who can guide Umma to cope with the contemporary challenges in the light of teachings of Quran and Sunnah. He stressed upon the need for refraining from violence, attitude of enmity and biasness while urging to forge unity among the ranks.
He added life of Prophet (PBUH) is a great source of inspiration for us; we should get benefit from the lessons it gives and find problems of our solutions in its light. He stressed upon Aima to urge society towards disseminating peace and brotherhood, and work for the cause of maintaining justice in the society.

He said we are accountable for our actions; we should keep in mind the limits granted by our religion because it would keep us away from falling in troubles. He lauded the role of Dawah Academy for arranging such constructive programs and hoped this would continue.
Earlier, Dr Imtiaz Zafar while congratulating the course participants on its completion said that Dawah Academy has been conducting the training program since 25 years and in future this sort of programs would also be conducted with more zeal. He hoped that Aima would share the gained knowledge of the course among public. Mr. Khair ul Abrar, while representing the course participants termed the course as vital addition into their knowledge and praised the training of technology given to them to use it for religious matters.

Earlier Incharge Training of Imams’ Section and the Coordinator of the programme Zaheer-ud-Din Bahram gave detailed briefing about the training programmes. Course completion certificates were also distributed among the participants by President IIUI at the end of the ceremony.

IIUI TRANSPORT FACILITY TO REMAIN FUNCTIONAL
International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has decided to keep its transport section functional on 22nd November, Friday. The IIUI administration has decided that the buses will go on their routes as per routine on the Friday. However to avoid any eventuality, it was decided that, there will be no class beyond 10:30 AM on Friday.

IIUI ORGANIZES SEMINAR ON WOMEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP
Islam is a great grantor of women’s rights, it not only provides them equal opportunity in society but also protects their liberty and freedom in all respects, there is no disparity and discrepancy on the bases of gender, they have full right to groom themselves in all walks of life following the core tents of Islam. These views were expressed by the President International Islamic University Islamabad Prof Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh on the occasion of One Day seminar on “ Women Entrepreneurship in Pakistan; Opportunity and Challenges” organized by the department of Management Faculty of Management Sciences IIUI.

VP (Academics) IIUI Dr. Mumtaz and renowned guest speakers including Mr Tahir Choudhry CEO Falcon Engineering Group, Mr. Waseem Hashmi GM Monitoring ICT R&D Funds Ministry of Information Technology, Ms, Shazia Khawar Director Civil Society, British Council, Ms, Sobia Amir Owner Sobia Amir Salon, Ms Zaira Rizvi Primary Photographer of Xyra’s Elements delivered important lectures on the topic, while Dean FMS Dr Bashir Khan, Director Female Campus Dr. Zaitoon Begum, Chairperson FMS (Female) Dr. Tasneem Fatima HoD Management Dr. Saima Naseer and large number of students were also attended the seminar.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh said women have important and vital role in the society, they can plays key role in the development of society, that is why Islam encourages them to step forward and participate for the uplifting of family, society, country and for Ummah as well. He invoked that Islam does not allow anybody to discriminate and deprive women to utilize and enjoy their rights, as quoted the vital example of Hazrat Khadija (RA) and her endeavours in the field of business, whom called first business lady of Islam. President further said , women are given Social, Political, Economical rights on equal bases with men and the expectations of positive and active role to play under the umbrella of Islamic teachings, associated with them.

Dr. Al Draiweesh urged young entrepreneurs to strengthen their capabilities and capacity as the future of Ummah depends upon them. He hoped the seminar would prove very vital for their capacity building and enhancing intellect level to understand the practical life experiences from scholars. President appreciated the efforts and urged faculty members to arrange even more series of such type of seminars and workshops. He also thanked to all the guest speakers for sparing their precious time for IIUI. Dr Mumtaz also appreciated the role of women especially young entrepreneurs on their active role in present society. He elaborated the concept of entrepreneurship by practical examples in life. He said the future of the generation depends upon the women so they must be the key part of planning in all the new avenues. Dr. Bashir Khan, Dr. Zaitoon Begum, Dr. Tasneem Fatima and Dr. Siama Naseer also addressed on the occasion.

IIUI ORGANIZES TEACHER TRAINING WORKSHOP
A three-day long teacher training workshop on “Developing Higher Order Thinking Skills” organized by English department (female) of International Islamic university Islamabad (IIUI), in collaboration with Higher Education Commission, kicked off at female campus of the university on Wednesday.

Opening ceremony of the workshop was presided over by Dean Faculty of Language and Literature Dr. Munawar Iqbal Gondal while it was also attended by the chairperson of the female English department Dr. Munazza Yaqoob and all the faculty members of the department. On the first day of the workshop, previous theories of teaching, techniques to control human mind and cognitive learning were the topics while speakers stressed upon the fact that to have new ideas we require more material and information through different mediums.

“Thinkers are the people who lead the society, while using their abilities of wisdom and thoughts, they reach to the solution of the problems” Dr. Munawar said while speaking to the participant faculty members of the workshop.

He persuaded the participants that once they complete the workshop, they should disseminate the gained knowledge with devotion among the students. He added Higher Order Thinking skill is pre-requisite for the extra ordinary teachers and the workshop has a special significance as it is focusing on a vital attribute of teaching. Dr Munawar urged the participants to keep mulling over the actions which could result in progress of the university.

Earlier, Dr. Munazza welcomed the chief guest and participants and hoped that the workshop would pave the way for arranging such constructive activities with more zeal and zest. Participants were also apprised about the sessions and the topics of the workshop by Dr Ghazala. The workshop would conclude on Friday.

IIUI TO HOLD LECTURE ON “THE MODEL OF MAUMALAT: AN ALTERNATE TO CAPITALISM”
Islamic Research Institute (IRI) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) is going to organize lecture on “ The Model of Muamalat: An Alternate to Capitalism” Today, November 20, 2013, at 11:00 a.m, at Allama Iqbal Auditorium, Faisal Masjid Campus of the university. Guest speaker Umar Ibrahim Vadilo, Director of E-Dinar Limited from Malaysia and President IIUI Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh shall deliver lectures on the subject.

It is worth mentioning here that Umar Ibrahim Vadilo is the Pioneer of the Dinar’s reintroduction. He was converted to Islam. He is also the author of books, written on Islamic finance and Economics. Among his books are “The Fatwa on Paper Money”, “The Return of the Gold Dinar” and “ The Exoteric Deviation in Islam”.

IIUI TO HOLD SEMINAR ON “WOMEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN PAKISTAN”
Faculty of Management Sciences of International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) is going to hold a seminar on “Women Entrepreneurship in Pakistan” on November 20, 2013 at 09:00 a.m., at Quaid-e-Azam Auditorium, Faisal Masjid Campus of the university. The objective of this seminar is to inculcate new perspectives in-line with the expectation of the local and global market trends in order to develop and natures entrepreneurial culture and spirit among young female entrepreneurs.

On the same day Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of IIUI also holding a workshop on “Awareness of HEC Recognized Journals & Plagiarism Policy” at 01:30 p.m., at Seminar Room, Central Library, New Campus, IIU, Islamabad. In this workshop HEC policy regarding research publications, recognized journals and Plagiarism policy will be explored to participants of this workshop. Large number of faculty members and students will attend the events.

Shariah Academy, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) will hold an International Conference on “Moderation” from January 21-23, 2014, at Allama Iqbal Auditorium, Faisal Masjid Campus of the university. PRESIDENT IIUI ANNOUNCES 5 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR TRANSPORT SECTION
President International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh has announced 5 thousand dollars for the transport section in recognition of the services of the section staff of university and directed the concerned authorities to make induction of the new drivers possible for the smooth functioning of the transport section.
The announcement of the amount and directions were given on the occasion of President IIUI’s sudden visit to the transport office, he was accompanied by Director General (AF&P) Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja, Director Administration Khalid Mehmood Raja, Acting Director P&P Amir Ishtiaq.
President IIUI was briefed on the occasion regarding the job nature of the staff of the section and he was also apprised about the problems of the staff. He directed on the occasion that issue of overtime of the staff must be solved on priority basis and asked the concerned authorities to build rooms for the stay of drivers. He also directed that transport staff should be provided blankets during winter.

PRESIDENT IIUI ANNOUNCES 5 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR SECURITY STAFF
President International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh on Wednesday visited the security office of the university and announced 5000 dollars for construction of a new mosque and mess for the security staff while lauding the services of the staff.
He was accompanied by Director General (AF&P) Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja, Director Administration Khalid Mehmood Raja, Acting Director P&P Amir Ishtiaq and Chief Security Officer, Col. Rtd. Amjad Zaman.
On the occasion, Dr. Al-Draiweesh directed that staff should be provided best living facilities and work on a separate mess must be commenced on priority basis. He met with security staff and assured them that they would be provided with best facilities. He also assured them to look into the matter of overtime of the staff. The staff paid thanks to president for taking keen interest in the betterment of the university and for their goodwill.

PRESIDENT IIUI VISITS SITE FOR NEW CAFETERIA
President International Islamic University, Islamabad Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh on Wednesday visited the site of the new cafeteria for the university teachers and directed the concerned authorities to start work on the plan.
He was accompanied by Director General (AF&P) Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja, Director Administration Khalid Mehmood Raja, Acting Director P&P Amir Ishtiaq and Chief Security Officer, Col. Retd. Amjad Zaman.
Dr. Al Draiweesh vowed on the occasion that IIUI would keep striving for providing best facilities to its employees. He also directed that cafeteria must be according to the contemporary requirements which may accommodate more than hundred people at a time.

BI-LINGUAL AKHBAR-E-TAHQEEQ APPEARS
The Islamic Research Institute (IRI), International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has issued a special edition of its bi-lingual newsletter Akhbar-e-Tahqeeq. This Urdu-Arabic joint newsletter is a special number for 2013 carrying news items about the research-oriented activities at the IRI, IIUI in particular and in the Muslim world in general. Its Urdu portion contains a detail account of Khutbat-e-Seerat by renowned Indian scholar Dr. Yasin Mazhar Siddiqui from the Aligardh Muslim University, introduction of eight books by Dr. Ahmad Yusuf al-Darawaish, President, IIUI, latest books and journals, research activities in Arab and the Muslim World.

Its Arabic portion is comprised of a detailed background of the IRI as in visioned by Allama Iqbal in his famous Khutbat-e-Allahabad 1930, Muslim World news and other topics. The special edition of the newsletter has been published under the supervision of Dr. Suhail Hasan, Deputy Director General, IRI and with Syed Muzammil Hussain as its Editor. IIUI FEMALE STUDENTS SHINE IN EME OLYMPIAD 2013
Female students of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) brought fame to their institution in EME Olympiad 2013, organized by E&ME College Rawalpindi, by clinching 1st positions in Volleyball, Wall Climbing and third position in Basketball competition.

Talented squad of IIUI female Volleyball team comprising Kholla Amjad, Mahrukh Chaudhry, Misbah Hidayat, Samreen Qayyum, Zarlish Aneela, Aziza Masood and Noor-ul-Ain outclassed University of Sargodha in final match of EME Volleyball competition.

Sana Nazir of Faculty of Usul ud Din, while proving herself strong and unbeaten clinched 1st position in wall climbing competition. IIUI female students also performed best in Basketball competition by defeating University of Sargodha and Fast, and secured 3rd position. Rector IIUI Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and President IIUI Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh have congratulated the female students of the university on their success.

9TH MEETING OF BASR HELD
The 9th meeting of the year 2013 of Board of Advance Studies and Research (BASR) of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh. Vice President (Academics) Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad also attended the meeting. On this occasion, Dr. Al-Draiweesh directed the board members to make it sure that research must be conducted on new and contemporary topics.

The board discussed and analyzed synopses of theses of Ph. D students from Faculties of Usul Uddin and Arabic. The board issued valuable instructions for further research work to the students. It was decided in the meeting that next session of the board would be held after two weeks.

IIUI holds 62nd Academic Council Meeting
The 62nd meeting of Academic Council of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) held at Faisal Mosque campus of the university under the chairmanship of President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh. The meeting was attended by Director General (AF&P) Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja, Deans, Directors and other members of the council.

Matters including scholarships, hostels, scheme of studies and various other issues were discussed on the occasion. Dr. Al-Draiweesh while constituting the committees on different issues directed for timely solutions of the problems. He also directed the concerned authorities to facilitate students on priority basis. He also appreciated the role of council for early solution of the students’ problems.

 

IIUI HOLDS 72ND MEETING OF BOG
The 72nd meeting of the Board of Governors (BoG) of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) was chaired by the Rector IIUI, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai at Faisal Mosque campus of the university.

A number of important educational and administrative matters were discussed in the meeting and decisions were also taken accordingly. The members of BoG including President IIUI, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, Dr. Inam-ur-Rehman, Scientist Emeritus PIEAS, P.O Nilor, Senator Sardar Fateh Muhammad Hasni, Judge Shariah Court, Justice Dr. Fida Muhammad Khan and Secretary Board of Governors, Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja also attended the meeting.

 

 

 

IIUI STUDENT MUHAMMAD SAAD DIED
DR. MASOOM AND DR. AL-DRAIWEESH CONDOLE
Muhammad Saad student of BS Economics of International Institute of Islamic Economic of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) died. He was burred in his native village Haripur. Rector IIUI Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, President IIUI, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, Vice President (Academics) IIUI Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad and Director General (AF&P) Gulzar Ahmad Khwaja expressed deep sorrow and grief to his family over the death of Muhammad Saad. They also termed it a tragic incident and great loss for his family. The teachers and students showed profound condolence over this big loss and prayed for the soul of late Muhammad Saad.

IIUI, NUML SIGN MOU ON MUTUAL COOPERATION
MUSLIMS NEED TO MAKE YOUTH EDUCATED FOR SUCCESS, SAYS DR. AL-DRAIWEESH
The International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) and National University of Modern Languages (NUML) have signed an MoU of mutual cooperation in the field of academic and advance research under which both institutions would launch educational projects to learn from experiences of each other.

Both the institutions have agreed to set up a road map of mutual cooperation in a month back meeting of their heads, under which the aforesaid MoU was signed here at IIUI on the occasion of the visit of a eight-member delegation from NUML headed by its Rector Maj. Gen(R) Masood Hassan, which was warmly welcomed by President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al Draiweesh, Director General (AF&P) Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja and Deans and Directors of the university.

Speaking in the MoU signing ceremony, Maj. Gen(R) Masood Hassan said we would have to learn from the experiences of the developed nations, we should confess that we did not give enough to our youth, now; it’s the time to do something constructive and useful for them, let’s be together. “NUML wants extended cooperation with all Islamic countries because strengthening our educational side would be a solution to our problems “he said. Rector NUML added that recent MoU wouldn’t be ordinary one but both sides would make its application possible in true sense and mutually cooperate. He maintained that IIUI was actively cooperating with NUML as numbers of its faculty members offer their experiences to the later in various disciplines of education. “We are thankful for IIUI cooperation”, he said.

While speaking in the ceremony Dr. Al-Draiweesh said that success of every Muslim is a success of Muslim Umma and this is only possible if we make our youth educated. He urged to refrain from difference while asking Muslims to forge unity among their ranks to foil the lethal aims of enemies. He said recent mutual cooperation between IIUI and NUML should be vast in nature and other institutions from the Muslim countries should be included in it. He appraised the delegation about establishment of Arabic Language centre and plan of making a separate faculty for translation and interpretation at IIUI. He added that IIUI committed to extend its cooperation with all the Pakistani and International universities and recent MoU was an effort to strengthen the resolve.

While the NUML delegation was also present in the ceremony which included Saeed Akhtar, Registrar, Dr. Anwar Ali, Dr. Nighat, Col. Tariq Satti, Dr. Sharza, Dr. Talib and Amir Saleem.

Later, the delegation visited female campus where Dr. Zaitoon Begum briefed about the activities and faculties in the campus. NUML delegation also visited science block of male campus where it was appraised about the continued projects.

DAWAH ACADEMY OF IIUI HOLDS DARS-E- QURAN IN FAISAL MASJID
Dawah Academy of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized Dars-e-Quran in connection with the inception of new Islamic year at Faisal Masjid Islamabad. The President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al Draiweesh, DG Maktaba tu Dawa, Saudi Arabia Muhammad Saad bin Al- Doussri, DG Rabta Aalm-e-Islami Muhammad Abdho Ateen were the chief guest and Dr. Misbah ur Rehman delivered key address on the occasion. In his address Dr. Al Draiweesh said, the purity in actions is key requisite of success, it should a part of our dealings of daily life.

He stressed upon the need to create milieu of clarity in our words, actions and in our attitude as well. He said as the Islamic calendar associated with great action of migration of Prophet PBUH, teaches us great lesson of commitment and bear the hardships of life. He went on that, Migration to Madinah was sublime example of trust on Allah and it should also top priority of Muslims. Dr. Al Draiweesh also congratulated on new year of IIUI and said there is need of recommitment for the progress and prosperity of the University and to achieve the core goals behind its foundation. He also thanked to the guests and hoped this series of Dars would be continued in future as well.

Dr. Misbah ur Rehman delivered profound addressed on new Islamic year and the beginning of Hijri calendar. He said as we Muslims have entirely different and unique civilization which has rich traditions of sacrifices, migrations, so the New Year memorizes us to recall them and follow the golden tenets of Islam. He emphasized on the need to transfer the elements of Islamic identities to new generation. He said Muslims should feel proud on the unique, compact and comprehensive set of codes for human being that Islam gives to humanity. In the same occasion in their address Dr. Al-Doussri and Abdho Ateen congratulated on the anniversary of IIUI and said that new Islamic year teaches us many lessons of sacrifices and hardships. They also admired the efforts of Dawa Academy and IIUI for holding such programs. At the end, the certificates were distributed among the Imams of Faisal Masjid and students who are performing responsibility of Imamat in IIUI hostels. It is worth mentioning that Dawah Academy has also arranged daily Dars-e-Quran, Dars Hadith in Faisal Masjid after Maghrib prayer.

IIUI HOSTS DINNER IN HONOUR OF NEW EGYPTIAN TEACHERS
International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) hosted a welcome dinner in the honor of seven newly inducted Egyptian teachers from Al Azhar University who have recently joined Faculty of Arabic of the university. Dinner was attended by President IIUI Dr Ahmed Yousif Al Draiweesh, Director General, Maktaba-al-Dawa, Saudi Arabia Muhammad Bin Saad al-Dosri, Director General (AF&P) Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja, Deans, Directors, administrative staff and staff of Faculty of Arabic.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Al-Draiweesh while welcoming the Egyptian teachers hoped that Faculty of Arabic will be further strengthened and addition of foreign qualified people will prove as positive step towards progress of IIUI. He added that IIUI would keep making efforts to broaden educational relations with different academic institution of the world. He stressed on the faculty members to maintain discipline among the students and be devoted for making IIUI a precedent institute. President IIUI also directed the IIUI staff to refrain from differences and make IIUI progress their top priority. While highlighting the importance of education, he said promotion of education among Muslim youth was a dire need of hour because progress of our youth was solution of challenges faced by Ummah. He said IIUI is an omen of unity among the Muslim countries as a number of students across the Muslim world getting education here. Dr- Al Draiweesh assured that IIUI would keep striving for providing quality education to its students.

On the occasion, Egyptian teachers paid thanks to the president IIUI for warm hospitality and vowed that they would work with full devotion and commitment for the making IIUI an exemplary institution.

NEW EGYPTIAN FACULTY MEMBERS ARRIVE IIUI, CALL ON DR. AL-DRAIWEESH
A group of seven Egyptian teachers from Al-Azhar University (Egypt), who have been recently inducted at Faculty of Arabic of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), arrived at university on Monday and called on President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh.

President IIUI welcomed the Egyptian faculty members and apprised them about the vision and objectives of the university. He hoped that induction of highly qualified faculty would further raise the teaching standards of Faculty of Arabic. He stressed on the need for enhancing culture of research and teaching among Muslims while terming it a vital solution of Umma’s challenges. Dean Faculty of Arabic Dr. Bashir Ahmed was also present in the meeting. Later, Egyptian teachers also called on Director General (AF&P) Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja.

 

GULZAR AHMED KHWAJA JOINS IIUI AS DG AF&P
Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja has assumed his responsibilities as Director General (Administration, Finance & Planning) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) while he will also act as Secretary, Board of Governors. Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja had worked as DG AF&P few years back while he had also served as Director (Academics) at IIUI.

Rector IIUI, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai and President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh have welcomed the appointment of Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja and termed it as a positive step for university progress. Faculty members, officers, staff members and students have also welcomed the appointment of Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja as DG (AF&P) of the university.

 

 

IIUI HOLDS CONFERENCE ON MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES
Mathematics is a vital subject, researchers of every field get benefit from it and to make Muslim Umma developed and prosper it’s a prerequisite to pay attention on the subject of Mathematics. This was the gist of the views of President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, speakers and experts of the conference titled “ Second Conference on Mathematical Sciences” organized by Department of Mathematics and Statistics of International Islamic University (IIUI) at Faisal Mosque campus of the University.

Inaugural ceremony of the conference was presided over by Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President IIUI, Director General (AF&P) Gulzar Ahmed Khwaja, Dean Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences (FBAS) Dr. Muhammad Sher, senior Mathematician Ismat Baig and principal secretary of the conference Dr. Arshad Zia were also present.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh addressing to conference said research students are future of Umma because they would have to uphold the prestige of Muslims as scholars. “Mathematics is a base for all subjects, nobody can negate its importance and recent conference is a proof that IIUI emphasizing to nurture the best Maths researchers” he said. He lauded the efforts of organizers and paid thanks to the experts who came from across the country. He added, IIUI has signed many MoUs under which Mathematics students will be sent to the abroad institutes in scholarship programs.

Dr. Muhammad Sher, in his speech said IIUI is not only serving Pakistan but whole Muslim Umma, students of various Muslim countries being provided best facilities in the Faculty of Basic and Applied Sciences. He said research requires a strong foundation of Maths and keeping its importance in the mind, next year international conferences will be conducted. He assured that FBAS would provide all type of cooperation to the students in their research projects and constructive initiatives.

Earlier, Dr. Arshad Zia thanked all the participants, experts and departments for their active participation in the conference. Lectures were also delivered by the experts including Dr. Muhammad Nawaz, Ismat Baig, Miss Salma Shaheen, and Dr. Azad Akhtar Siddqui.

DR. AL-DRAIWEESH LEADS JUMA PRAYER AT FAISAL MOSQUE
Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) delivered Juma sermon and led the Juma Prayer at Faisal Mosque here on Friday. On the occasion, President IIUI prayed for the prosperity and unity among Muslims.

ULEMA CAN BRING CHANGE IN SOCIETY: DR. MASOOM YASINZAI
Ulema are playing key role in the reformation of the society; they are the successor of Prophets, the biggest responsibility of change in the society is on the shoulders of Ulema. These views were expressed by the Rector International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, on the occasion of concluding ceremony of Six Day workshop on the Topic” New Trends in Islamic Fiqh” jointly organized by Shariah Academy IIUI and Council of Islamic Ideology (CII). Director General Shariah Academy Dr. Tahir Mansoori and Dr. Ikaramul Haq CII, workshop participants and staff members of Shariah Academy were also present.

Dr. Masoom said Ulema should corner their differences and focus on the unity, brotherhood and cooperation, Ulema are supposed to preach the true message of Seerah. He said it is pleasure to get a chance to share views with Ulema. “Ulema are one of important assets of Muslim Ummah who persuade the people towards true message of Islam” He added. Rector IIUI further said that the success in life and hereafter is associated with following the teachings of Islam. He also assured Ulema all kind of cooperation and appreciated the efforts taken by the Council of Islamic Ideology and Shariah Academy. He emphasized to arrange such more workshops as these platforms and courses help to exchange the views over Fiqh’s understandings and solve misunderstandings out. Dr. Masoom termed Ulema as effective source of spreading Islam and knowledge.

On the occasion Dr. Tahir Mansoori briefed about the workshop and said in this workshop participants got opportunity to analyze Islamic Fiqh, Laws and attitude. He said IIUI respects all the sects and endeavouring to create harmony among them. Dr. Mansoori also thanked the cooperation of council of Islamic Ideology. Dr. Ikramul Haq also shared his views and paid gratitude to Shariah Academy and IIUI and assured cooperation in future. WORKSHOP ON “TOWARDS UNDERSTANDING IQBAL IN 21ST CENTURY” CONCLUDES AT IIUI
A three-day workshop titled “Towards Understanding Iqbal in 21st Century” organized by Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IIIRD) of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) concluded at Faisal Mosque campus of the university. The workshop was attended by the 18 teachers of the various colleges of Islamabad and suburbs. The workshop was aimed at making teachers of the different subjects familiar with the teachings of Iqbal. Renowned scholars and experts on Iqbal studies delivered valuable lectures in the workshop on various topics.

The concluding ceremony was attended by President IIUI, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, Vice President (Academics) Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed, Former Vice President, Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, emirates scholar Dr. Zafar Ishaq Ansari, Director Coordination IIIRD Dr. Talib Husain Sial and participants of the workshop.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Al-Draiweesh said Iqbal was a true lover of Muslim Ummah and staunch supporter of its unity, his thoughts are needed to be applied in present era as we need to forge unity among our ranks. He also suggested that an international conference should be conducted by IIIRD on teachings of Iqbal, in which prominent scholars should be invited. While appreciating the services of Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, he said that Dr. Sajid ur Rehman with his hard work and efforts worked for the progress and development of the university. His services will be remembered in the history of university, he added.

Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed, in his speech on the occasion said that IIRD will provide every possible cooperation to all colleges and other institutions of the country in conducting such workshops in future. He added assistance in research on Iqbal studies to the educational institutions of country is our top priority.

Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, in his speech paid thanks for immense love shown by worthy president and vice president IIUI. He said during 38 years of his service at IIUI he always gave top priority to the progress of university. He offered thanks for splendid farewells arranged in his honor by university.

Earlier, participants shared their views about the experience of workshop and termed it as a precious opportunity to understand the message of Iqbal. At the end, certificates of participants were distributed among the participants of the workshop by President IIUI.

Later, A farewell luncheon was arranged by IIIRD in the honour of Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, which was also attended by President IIUI, VP IIUI and staff of IRD.

SCIENCE SUBJECTS VITAL FOR UMMAH DEVELOPMENT, SAYS DR. AL-DRAIWEESH
President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, on Thursday visited male campus and met with the students, staff and faculty, inspected the labs and classes of the departments of physics and Bioinformatics and Biotechnology of Faculty Basic and Applied Sciences.

President IIUI was apprised about the continued courses and projects initiated by the students. The briefing on the progress of the study was given by Chariman Department of Physics and Chairman Department of Bioinformatics and Biotechnology.

Dr. Al- Draiweesh talked to the students and advised them to be devoted to their studies while terming the subjects of sciences as vital for the development and progress of Muslim Ummah. “Young Students are precious asset of Muslim Ummah, their education must be top priority of Muslim countries” He added. President IIUI also directed the faculty members to urge students to observe discipline. He assured that support for innovative projects will be provided to the teacher and students on priority basis.
