IIUI HOLDS INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON THE TOPIIC “PROBLEMS OF QURAN’S TRANSLATIONS IN THE SUBCONTINENT” QURAN IS THE MOST AUTHENTIC SOURSE OF KNOWKEDGE, SHOULD BE GREAT WHILE TRANSLATING AND INTERPRETING.DR HASRUL SANI BIN MUJTABAR, MALAYSIAN AMBASSADOR



The High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan DR HASRUL SANI BIN MUJTABAR was chief guest of the conference said that translation of the divine book Holy Quran is very sensitive issue, should be dealt with great care. He was addressing to inaugural ceremony of the two-day international conference on the topic “Problems of Quran’s Translations in the Subcontinent” at Qauid Azam Auditorium, Faisal Mosque campus of International Islamic university Islamabad. The conference has jointly been organized by Islamic Research Institute (IRI), Department of Tafseer and Quranic Sciences and Department of Translation and Interpretation (T&I) of IIUI. On the occasion Dy Cultural Counsellor of Iran to Pakistan Ali Dosti, Vice Presidents of the University Pr Dr. Sajid ur Rehman, Dr Mumtaz Ahmed , teacher and large number of students were also attend the conference. Dr. Inam ul Haq Ghazi, Head Dept of Translation & Interpretation, IIU took the responsibilities as secretary of the conference.
Dr. Hasrul Sani bin Mujtabar paid gratitude to President of IIUI Dr. Draiweesh for honouring a reward of Malaysia as chief guest of the conference. He said that Muslims Ummah has privilege of the Quran as guideline to deal all the concerning contemporary matters of the time. He said that we must avoid misinterpretation of the Quran, up to maximum capability as human being as the wrong or misinterpretation leads to fragmentations. He hoped for the very success of the conference. He also mentioned the prosperous relationships and free trade agreement with Pakistan that Malaysia has. He said that Quran and life of Muhammad (PBUH) provide us strong foundation of relations with non Muslims. He stressed upon the scholars saying that you are chosen people for the noble cause of translation of Holy Quran, so it’s your utmost responsibility to play positive role for the well being of the Muslim Ummah. In his opening session remarks President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Dr. Ahmed Yousaf al-Draweesh said that Quran is most reliable and authentic source of knowledge in the world, that could not ever been challenged. He said that an acute need for the translators that they should care about the semantic values of the words, while translating and interpreting of the Quran in any other language. He appreciated and thanked to all the guest speakers form across the world, who brought their valued research papers to share with the participants of the conference and contributed for the success. Dr. Muhammad Al-Ghazali threw the light on Quranic Translations in Urdu, English and other languages available in the subcontinent. Earlier Dr. Inam ul Haq briefed in detail and about salient feature of the conference to the participants.
The conference aims at identifying the problems, issues and difficulties associated with Quran’s translation in sub-continent purely on academic grounds without indulging or pointing to or highlighting any specific translation produced by any scholar of any Islamic sect.
In first day of the conference, Alkhamsa Aloui from (Algeria), Fahad Obaidullah, Muhammad Razi ul Islam, Tauseef Ahmed Parray (India), Hassane Darir (Morocco), Mahmoud Hassan Makhlouf (Egypt), Muhammad Najam ul Haq (Bangladesh), Dr. Misbah Ullah Abdul Baqi (Afghanistan), and renowned Pakistani scholars presented their research papers in the conference. The conference will be concluded on Tuesday evening.

IIUI TO HOLD INAUGURAL CEREMONY OF INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON “PROBLEMS OF QURAN’S TRANSLATIONS IN THE SUBCONTINENT” TODAY
International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) is going to hold a two-day international conference titled “Problems of Quran’s Translations in the Subcontinent” which will start on April 29, 2013 (Monday) 9:00 am at Qauid Azam Auditorium , Faisal Mosque campus of the university. Dr. Hasrul Sani bin Mujtabar, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Pakistan shall be the chief guest of the inaugural ceremony of the conference. The conference is being jointly organized by Islamic Research Institute (IRI), Department of Tafseer and Quranic Sciences and Department of Translation and Interpretation (T&I) of IIUI. Dr. Inam ul Haq Ghazi, Head Dept of Translation & Interpretation, IIU is the conference secretary.

The conference aims at identifying the problems, issues and difficulties associated with Quran’s translation purely on academic grounds without indulging or pointing to or highlighting any specific translation produced by any scholar of any Islamic sect. Renowned Islamic scholars from various countries including Alkhamsa Aloui from (Algeria), Fahad Obaidullah, Muhammad Razi ul Islam, Tauseef Ahmed Parray (India), Hassane Darir (Morocco), Mahmoud Hassan (Egypt), Muhammad Najam ul Haq (Bangladesh) , Misbah Abdul Baqi (Afghanistan) and Pakistani scholars will deliver their lectures during two-day conference which is divided in three session each day.

In first day of the conference the topic of discussion will be on conceptual and theoretical aspects of Quran’s translation, Quranic style and challenges of translation and comparison between different translations and translators of Quran. First day of the conference will be chaired by Professor Dr Mahmood Hassan Makhloof, Muhammad Razi ul Islam Nadvi and Dr Zulfiqar Ali Shah respectively.

Participant will discuss Approaches in Qurans translation and problems on Second Day of the conference. Sessions of second Day will be chaired by Dr Muhammad Al-Ghazali and Alkhamsa Aloui. Dr Inam ul Haq Ghazi is coordinator of the conference.

14TH I.O.P FOR SCOUT LEADERS CONCLUDES
Pakistan is the first ideological state on the world’s map after Madeena, which came into existence after numerous sacrifices and hardships and now future of the country depends upon youth, they should devote themselves to provide valuable leadership for prosperity and stability of Pakistan. These views were expressed by Professor Dr Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman Vice President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) during his address in “14th Islamic training program for leaders scout camp” organized by Dawah Academy of the university. He urged the participants to use holy Quran as a source of guidance and recitation of the Holy Book must be their daily routine. Dr Sajid ur Rehman said it is quite unfortunate that such resolutions were passed in the country which narrated religion and state as separate, which is totally repugnant to teachings of Islam. He said moral behaviour is a real asset of a human being which leads him towards contentment of soul and peace. He added that Prophet (PBUH) should be ideal of our leadership because that leadership can change the fate of the country. He stressed on the students to offer prayer and apply Islamic teachings in their practical life. He was of the view that students should equip themselves with contemporary knowledge as it is vital to cope with the challenges of the hour. He urged the youth to study life of Holy Prophet (PBUH) as it would bring revolution in their lives and would lead them to success. He said students should devote themselves for the country and promotion of teachings of the holy Prophet (PBUH). At the end, certificates of completion of the program were distributed among the scouts.

COURSE ON “INTERNATIONAL HUMANITARIAN LAW AND ISLAMIC LAW” CONCLUDES AT IIUI
Islam is religion of peace which not only stresses on protection of human rights but also urges its followers to guard the prerogatives of their society fellows, Muslims have guidance from Quran and Sunnah, both these introduce them to promote peace, brotherhood and help those who face problems. These views were expressed by Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), on the occasion of concluding ceremony of the two-day certificate course on “International Humanitarian Law and Islamic Law” which was jointly organized by Department of Law Faculty of Shariah and Law and International Committee of Red Cross (ICRC) at IIUI. Head of delegation of ICRC Dr Paul Castella, Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman Vice President IIUI, (Dr Zia ul Haq Dean Faculty of Shariah and Law, teachers of department and students of the course were also present on the occasion. Dr Al-Draiweesh said vision of IIUI is to promote peace and brotherhood. There is a dire need of cooperation between university and the organizations which are working for the betterment of humanity and protection of human rights. He stressed on the need for holding further courses of same nature. He urged the students and teachers to build real image of Islam and introduce the world with actual message of the religion which is service of human beings. He said that such courses and cooperation between IIUI and ICRC would pave the way to protection of humanitarian laws. Speaking on the occasion, Paul Castella said core mission of ICRC is to protect the humanity, and same message of Islam that is why majority of its employees are Muslim who work with devotion for the sacred cause. He was of the view that we should work for protection of rights without discrimination of race and gender, and ICRC will remain committed to promote this cause. He also lauded the commitment of Islamic scholars for helping ICRC in achievements of its objectives. In his vote of thanks, Dr Zia ul Haq thanked the President IIUI for his support for providing enormous opportunity to participants to broaden their vision regarding humanitarian law and Islamic teachings. He termed the course as great success. At the end of the ceremony, exchange of souvenirs took place from the both sides. Earlier, lunch was arranged for the participants of the course.

23 MEMBER STUDENTS COUNCIL OF FMS, FEMALE CAMPUS OF IIUI TAKES OATH
Faculty of Management Sciences (FMS) (Female), International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIU) organized Oath Taking Ceremony of the “Student Council” comprises of 23 members from different students’ societies, at Female Campus of the university. Dr. Zaitoon Begum, Director Female Campus was the chief guest on the occasion while Dr. Bashir Khan, Dean FMS, Dr. Tasnim Fatima, Acting Chairperson FMS (Female) and head of departments of FMS (Female Campus) were also present on the occasion. The head of the council and all members were elected on the basis of their abilities, leadership traits and general popularity in students.

Addressing to the students, Chief Guest Dr. Zaitoon Begum said that the Faculty of Management Sciences always has great honor for the students and wonderful opportunity for them to make better understanding of learning and excel their abilities. She wished that this student council would be an example for different faculties. Dr. Bashir Khan said that the commitment of the council should prove itself in achieving high standard and maintain excellence in education. He further said that University is committed to provide all possible opportunities to students with an objective to groom their personalities build confidence and prepare them to face the challenges of practical life.

معالي رئيس الجامعة يلتقي بسماحة المفتي العام في المملكة العربية السعودية

استمرارا لجهود معالي رئيس الجامعة في التعريف بالجامعة الإسلامية العالمية بإسلام آباد وبأهدافهاورسالتها ودورها الرائد في داخل باكستان وخارجهالتقى معالي رئيس الجامعة بسماحة المفتي العام في المملكة العربية السعودية الشيخ عبد العزيز بن عبد الله آل الشيخ واطلعه على ما تقوم به الجامعة حاليا من جهود خدمة للعلم وطلابه والإسلام وأهله، كما تباحث مع سماحته حول بعض القضايا العلمية والشرعية المتعلقة بالجامعة، وسير العملية التعليمية فيها، وما تقوم به الجامعة من دور رائد في المجالات العلمية والبحثية وخدمة المجتمع ونشر العلوم الشرعية وعلوم اللغة العربية…

معالي رئيس الجامعة يجتمع مع المدير التنفيذي لصندوق التضامن الإسلامي

في إطار جهود معالي رئيس الجامعة الإسلامية العالمية في إسلام آباد معالي الأستاذ الدكتور/ أحمد بن يوسف الدريويش في التعريف بالجامعة الإسلامية العالمية ودعمها وبيان رسالتها وأهدافها الإسلامية العالمية.. اجتمع معاليه بالمدير التنفيذي لصندوق التضامن الإسلامي التابع لمنظمة التعاون الإسلامي الأستاذ/ إبراهيم بن عبد الله الخزيم، وفي بداية الاجتماع رحب سعادته بمعالي الأستاذ الدكتور رئيس الجامعة شاكرا له هذه المبادرة في التعريف بالجامعة وبيان دورها ورسالتها وأثرها الإسلامي والعالمي..وقد ثنى معالي رئيس الجامعة بالشكر والتقدير لسعادة الأستاذ على إتاحته الفرصة لهذا اللقاء المهم للتعريف بالجامعة لدى الصندوق مبينًا ما تعيشه الجامعة في العصر الحاضر من تقدم ونهضة ورقى وعناية بالعلم وأهله وطلابه.. مشيرًا إلى تطورها الملحوظ في كافة الميادين العلمية والأكاديمية حيث يبلغ عدد كلياتها حاليا تسع كليات علمية فضلا عن أكاديمية الدعوة وأكاديمية الشريعة ومركز البحوث الإسلامية وما يتبع ذلك من معاهد ومدارس تشرف عليها الجامعة في مختلف أقاليم باكستان… والزيادة المضطردة في أعداد طلابها وطالباتها في مختلف الكليات والأقسام العلمية والتقنية والهندسية والتطبيقية والتكنلوجية حيث يبلغ عدد من ينتسب إلى هذه الجامعة ما يقرب من ثلاثين ألف (30000) طالب وطالبة في مختلف المراحل الدراسية والفئات العمرية.. ناهيك عما تضطلع به من دور بارز في خدمة المجتمع والبحث العلمي…

مؤكدًا معاليه حاجة الجامعة الحالية إلى الدعم المادي من أجل أن تؤدي رسالتها على أكمل وجه وأتم حال وبخاصة دعم البنى التحتية لها كالمعامل وأمور الصيانة والتجهيزات الدراسية والمكتبية، ووحدات لإسكان الطلاب والطالبات من أجل استعياب زيادة العدد.. فضلا عن الحاجة إلى إنشاء مبان للكليات العلمية كالهندسة والعلوم وغيرها وأيضا دعم النقل الطلابي فيها ووسائل السلامة والأمن…

وقد أبدى سعادة مدير الصندوق الأستاذ إبراهيم الخزيم تفاعله مع طلبات الجامعة واحتياجاتها واعدًا بالسعي إلى تحقيق ذلك وفق إمكانات الصندوق وصلاحياته.. مشيرا إلى أهمية التعاون بين الجامعة والصندوق والتواصل بينهما لما يخدم الجامعة ويرتقي بها ويمكنها من تحقيق رسالتها العلمية والإسلامية والعالمية…

وفي ختام اللقاء شكر معالي رئيس الجامعة سعادة المدير التنفيذي للصندوق متمنيا له التوفيق والسداد سائلا الله أن يحفظ أوطان المسلمين من كل سوء ومكروه… وأن يستمر التعاون فيما بينهم عن طريق مثل هذه الصناديق الرائدة والمنظمات الفاعلة التي تعود على الإسلام والمسلمين بالخير والنفع والفائدة.

مشيدًا بجهود المملكة العربية السعودية وعلى رأسها خادم الحرمين الشريفين الملك عبد الله بن عبد العزيز آل سعود ــ حفظه الله ــ  وسمو ولي عهده الأمين وسمو النائب الثاني في خدمة الإسلام وأهله.. ودعمهم لكل ما من شأنه أن يعينهم ويرتقي بهم ويجعل من أمة الإسلام أمة قوية تأخذ مكانها الصحيح بين أمم العالم تقدمًا ورقيًا وأمنًا وأمانًا وسلمًا وسلامًا وحضارة ومدنية في ظل أحكام الإسلام وتعاليمه السمحة.

IIUI PRESIDENT MEETS GRAND MUFTI OF SAUDI ARABIA
President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh had a meeting with the Grand Mufti of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Abdullah Al Sheikh and informed him of the latest services of IIUI for the cause of knowledge and Islam.

Dr Al-Draiweesh also discussed some of the relevant academic and legal issues of the University, educational matters and the leading role of the University in the fields of academic pursuits and research, rendering useful services for society and the promotion of legal studies and Arabic sciences.

The present visit of IIUI President was a part of his campaign to enlighten the educational, academic, religious and cultural institutions of Saudi Arabia which would go a long way in promoting the University’s goals and objectives.

The Grand Mufti welcomed expressed his best wishes and prayer for the success of the efforts he and his colleagues were making for the progress of this university. In return, the President also thanked the Grand Mufti for his valuable advice for the betterment of Islam and the Muslim Ummah and for his keen interest in the issues of the Muslim world and prayed to Allah, the Almighty for his success.

 

IIUI PRESIDENT CALLS ON EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF ISLAMIC SOLIDARITY FUND
President International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), Dr Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh called on Executive Director of Islamic Solidarity Fund of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Mr. Ibrahim bin Abdullah al-Khazeem and apprised him about the achievements, progress and financial requirements of the university.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Al-Draiweesh informed Mr. Ibrahim about IIU objectives, goals and achievements, progress and the attention that the University was presently giving to education and teaching standard. While briefing about the progress of university, he particularly focused on the significant development the University. He said university has made valuable advancement in almost all the academic fields with its nine faculties, besides Da’wah Academy, Shari’ah Academy and Islamic Research Institute and some other educational institutes working under its supervision in all the provinces of Pakistan. He also pointed to the increasing number of students in its various faculties and departments. He also highlighted the important role of Islamic Research Institute in the field of academic research.

In this regard, he stressed the need of the University for material and financial support in order to accomplish its mission in the best possible manner, particularly for the construction of infrastructure such as laboratories, maintenance, teaching and office equipments, construction of hostel blocks (for both male and female students to accommodate increasing number of students), academic blocks for the Faculties of Engineering, Sciences, etc. and to enhance the present capacity of the transport facility for safe transit of the university students from their homes to the university and back to their homes.

Ibrahim al-Kazheem expressed his readiness to interact with the University for its request for material support; promising that he would try his best to achieve this end within the limit of the fund and his own jurisdiction, pointing to the importance of sustaining cooperation between the Fund and the University in a manner that would serve this University and contribute to its flourishing so as to enable it to achieve its academic, Islamic and international mission and objectives.

SCHOLARS AND RELIGIOUS LEADERS CAN REDEFINE THE NATURE OF THE DISCOURSE ON US-PAKISTAN RELATIONS, SAID RECTOR OF IIUI DR. MASOOM YASINZAI
The Iqbal International Institute for Research & Dialogue, (IRD) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) and Intersections, International New York, USA are jointly organized International conference on “Grassroots Approaches to US – Pakistan Relations” at Islamabad Serena Hotel. Prominent American and Pakistani, academicians and religious leaders took part in roundtable discussion. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President IIUI, Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, Vice President, IIUI, Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, Vice President (Academics) and Dr. Munawar Iqbal Gondal, Head Dept. of English were also present on the occasion. In his welcoming address Dr. Ahmad Yousif said true Muslim leaderships always struggled for peace and brotherhood in the world and they are also struggling for promoting peace and harmony. The cooperation between the religious leaderships of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Islamic Republic of Pakistan for supporting international peace and harmony is continued for a number of decades through organization of Islamic Countries, World Muslim League and some educational institutions such as International Islamic University Islamabad. He has said that the role of the Religious Leaderships in International Peace and Security” is among the important issues that imperatively need to be discussed at such forums because of the importance of the role that the religious leadership plays in the Muslim World on one hand and the great responsibility that lies on their shoulders towards working for the overall good of humanity and strengthening the cause of globe peace and security. He further said that peace is one of the main pillars of life and religion. Ideological peace is the reason behind the stability of a society and one of the main sources of ideological peace is the moderation of Islam. He said that religious scholars should spread the message of moderation of Islam and discourage the extremism. Another source of ideological peace in the society is the role of Masajid, Maddaris and universities. The Ulema and scholars must educate the young generation about ideological peace. In the first round of the consortium co director of the event and worthy guest Mr. Reverend Robert Chase from USA pleased to be a participant of consortium of such important cause. He wished to have more dialogues and interactions with scholars of both the countries for the cause to bring the people from both sides closer. Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed thanked all the guest and participants of the conference. He said that the conference would help to promote and strengthen the public opinion about US Pakistan Relations. At the end the participants actively participated in a round table discussion on “What Faith-based and Grassroots Leaders can do to address Issues of US-Pakistan Relations”. INTL. CONFERENCE ON GRASSROOTS APPROACHES TO US – PAKISTAN RELATIONS STARTS
The Iqbal International Institute for Research & Dialogue, (IRD) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) and Intersections, International New York, USA are jointly organized International conference on “Grassroots Approaches to US – Pakistan Relations” at Islamabad Serena Hotel. Prominent American and Pakistani, academicians and religious leaders took part in roundtable discussion. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President IIUI, Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, Vice President, IIUI, Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, Vice President (Academics) and Dr. Munawar Iqbal Gondal, Head Dept. of English were also present on the occasion. In his welcoming address Dr. Ahmad Yousif said true Muslim leaderships always struggled for peace and brotherhood in the world and they are also struggling for promoting peace and harmony. The cooperation between the religious leaderships of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Islamic Republic of Pakistan for supporting international peace and harmony is continued for a number of decades through organization of Islamic Countries, World Muslim League and some educational institutions such as International Islamic University Islamabad. He has said that the role of the Religious Leaderships in International Peace and Security” is among the important issues that imperatively need to be discussed at such forums because of the importance of the role that the religious leadership plays in the Muslim World on one hand and the great responsibility that lies on their shoulders towards working for the overall good of humanity and strengthening the cause of globe peace and security. He further said that peace is one of the main pillars of life and religion. Ideological peace is the reason behind the stability of a society and one of the main sources of ideological peace is the moderation of Islam. He said that religious scholars should spread the message of moderation of Islam and discourage the extremism. Another source of ideological peace in the society is the role of Masajid, Maddaris and universities. The Ulema and scholars must educate the young generation about ideological peace. In the first round of the consortium co director of the event and worthy guest Mr. Reverend Robert Chase from USA pleased to be a participant of consortium of such important cause. He wished to have more dialogues and interactions with scholars of both the countries for the cause to bring the people from both sides closer. Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed thanked all the guest and participants of the conference. He said that the conference would help to promote and strengthen the public opinion about US Pakistan Relations. At the end the participants actively participated in a round table discussion on “What Faith-based and Grassroots Leaders can do to address Issues of US-Pakistan Relations”. for Scout Leaders organized by Dawah Academy of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) visited New Campus of the University and called on Vice President (AF&P), Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman and Vice President (Academics) Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed. Syed Hassan Aftab, Addl. Director (Academics) gave detailed introduction about the university, its history and future plans. Participants also raised various questions regarding admission of different courses and programmes. He also briefed them about the various programmes offered by the university and admission procedures in detail.

IIUI STUDENTS PARTICIPATES, NUST OLYMPIAD 2013
Female students of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) clinched 2nd position in NUST Olympiad 2013. Nine different institutions’ teams including Army Medical College (AMC), Rawalpindi Medical College (RMC), International Islamic University, Islamabad and some private teams also participated in the event. The urge to be the best of the best made the event more interesting. IIUI Team showed its sports skills in the competition and proved that the team could not be taken so lightly. IIUI team struggled hard and chased to the final match. The match was played against “Storms”. The IIUI team did its best and ranked as 2nd in the completion. NUST Olympiad 2013 held from April 18 to April 20, 2013.

DR. AL-DRAIWEESH SIGNS THE MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING AND COOPERATION WITH THE JUDICIAL ACADEMIC SOCIETY, SAUDI ARABIA
Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Cooperation with the Saudi Judicial Academic Society, the Society working under the Higher Judicial Institute, Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

The objective of the memorandum is to strengthen and consolidate the mutual cooperation between the both sides in the areas of common interest such as academic research, research projects, exchange of technical and research materials, cooperation in the development of training programs and plans, exchange of reference in the fields of science and education and digital scientific materials, organization of seminars, conferences and lectures on subjects of mutual interest, arrangement of training programs and exchange of academic and scientific publications.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh highly extolled the Society and its senior officials for their excellent efforts resulting in marvellous achievement in a short time. He especially admired the efforts of Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman Al-Sind and Dr. Abdullah al-Ghufaili, also prayed for their success as well.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh also thanked Dr. Sulaiman Ibn Abdullah Abalkhail, Vice Chancellor of the Imam Muhammad bin Saud Islamic University and the Pro-Chancellor of the International Islamic University, Islamabad for his keen and constant interest in the University.

 

 

IRD, INTERSECTIONS TO ORGANIZE CONFERENCES ON PAK-US RELATIONS, PEACE BUILDING
The Iqbal International Institute for Research & Dialogue, (IRD) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) and Intersections, International New York, USA are jointly organizing International conferences, one in Islamabad and the other in Lahore.

The part of Islamabad conference will focus on “Grassroots Approaches to US – Pakistan Relations” and will be held on 23-24 April, 2013 at Islamabad Serena Hotel. The Lahore part on “The Role of the Grassroots/Community Leaders in Building Peace.” will be held on 25-26 April, 2013 at LUMS, Lahore, respectively.

A galaxy of American and Pakistani academicians and religious leaders will take part in workshop/roundtable type discussion. The American scholars and their Pakistani counterparts include religious scholars, social scientists and civil society activists, religious leaders of different schools of thought and journalists will attend the conferences.

IIUI SPORTS TEAM SHINES IN PRESTON UNIVERSITY SPRING SPLASH 2013
Female students of International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) have secured positions in the various competitions of Spring Splash of Preston University. A team of outstanding players from IIUI participated in the matches mainly in badminton, table tennis and cricket. IIU students secured 2nd position in competitions of Badminton Single, Badminton Doubles, Table Tennis and cricket. The coach of IIUI female sports team Assistant Sports Officer Ms. Nadia Mukhtar has expressed satisfaction on the performance of team. She said university id proud of its sports team.

REPORT ON SEMINAR: “MORNING SHOWS: INFOTAINMENT OR DISASTER”
Department of Media and Communication Studies (Female) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) organized a seminar on “Morning shows: Infotainment or Disaster” in the female campus of the university. Central idea or gist was to critically analyze the Morning shows content. Renowned host of News Channels, Tauseeq Haider and Farah Hussain were the guest speakers on the occasion.

While addressing to the seminar Tauseeq Haider was of the opinion that each and every person working in media organization is chained by the policies of their respective organizations. He added that change would come only if target audience would step forward and raise voices for the betterment of society.

Farah Hussain said that hosts are under pressure and scrutiny of media organizations solely working on public demand they cannot do anything until and unless the target audience raise their voices instead of sitting at the back and murmuring in hushed tone.

IIUI HOLDS WORKSHOP ON “BRIDGING THE GAP BETWEEN ACADEMIA AND INDUSTRY”
Department of Computer Sciences & Software Engineering (DCSSE), Female Campus, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) conducted a Workshop on “Bridging the gap between academia and industry”. Ms. Zakia Jalil and Ms. Sadia Arshad lecturers DCSSE were the organizers of workshop. The workshop aims to give better understanding of new technology and to provide an opportunity to become familiar with current research in software engineering and more generally with the methods and challenges of scientific research. Team Members of Code Institute F-6 Mr. .Arshad Ali Business Head / Project Manager, Mr. Rahat Ali Project Manager, Mr. Imran Tanveer Android Developer /android Instructor, Mr. Mohsin Tariq Senior software Engineer, Ms. Nellofar Senior Software Engineer, Ms. Nadia Mehreen Program Coordinator, Mr. Ali Asghar Sales Manager spoke on the subject. All guest speakers were invited to share the ideas, new technology and to solve the quires of final year projects of the students.

KBTE AFFILIATION COMMITTEE VISITS IQRA COLLEGE
Affiliation committee of Khyber Board of Technical Education (KBTE), headed by Secretary of the board, Hidayat ullah visited IQRA College of Technology, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI). Committee visited different departments and laboratories of college while Principal IQRA College of Technology, Engineer Javed Ahmed Tipu gave a detailed briefing about the college. The committee lauded the performance of IQRA College and assured every possible support to it. The committee included the principals and other officers from Government Polytechnic College Sardar Garhi, Government Polytechnic College Takht Bai and NAVTEC Peshawar. Incharges of different department of IQRA college were also present on the occasion.

IIUI STUDENT SHINES IN US
The one who belongs to a remote area faces harsh and intense circumstances to peruse one’s educational aims. Abdul Basit Ali, resident of Faqirwali town in Bahawalnagar district of Southern Punjab faced same situation but his zeal and zest for the education paved the way to success. Abdul Basit, student of Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering in International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI), passed Fsc exam with distinction from Degree College Haroonabad by wining Prime minister’s ICT merit scholarship in IIUI.

“IIU polished my skills and provided me with worth mentioning opportunities like studying as exchange student in USA and I won this scholarship for fall 2012 semester after a hard competition”, says Basit. Abdul Basit feels lucky that he was blessed with loyal and marvelous teachers at IIUI whom he credits for his success during his studies in US. He says he is thankful to them for making him to adopt punctuality and hard work in his life which helped him to shine during his scholarship period. “with the guidance of IIUI teachers I managed to maintain healthy relations with faculty members and students in US, for this, I am thankful to them” He says.

He participated actively in curricular and extra-curricular activities in US which he counts as enormous chances of personal grooming. He says he availed every chance to represent Pakistan and represented country through presentations, celebrated EIDs in traditional way, celebrated Independence Day and took part in Islamic clubs.

Considering his part in aforesaid activities, Abdul Basit was nominated as the best involved student at the university and he earned a place in Dean’s list of honor students. He also received certificates from ACM (association of computing and machinery-a worldwide organization) for participation in programming competition. Abdul Basit was also given a micro grant for a small project for the welfare of his home town.

While remembering the experience of being cultural ambassador of Pakistan in his institution in US, he says it was a huge responsibility, of which he always felt proud there. Abdul Basit credits his parents and teachers for all achievements and has a determination to raise the flag of country on diverse platforms in the world.

Organizers of 1st ISLAMIAN’s Art Exhibition 2013 Syed Hassaan Ali Shah, Ch. Waseem Sajjad & Usman Yaqoob called on Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) at his office and presented him a painting made by Usman Yaqoob.

IIU HOLDS LECTURE ON “MUSLIM WORLD UNITED AND THE ROLE OF MOTAMAR AL-ALAM ISLAMI”
Motamar al-Alam al-Islami has worked to encourage a shared identity among Muslims regardless of country and politics and it actively engaged the wider world in matters of promoting peace, justice and well being. These views were expressed by Dr. Gavin D. Brockett, Associate Professor of Middle East and Islamic History at Wilfrid Laurier University, Ontario, Canada, while delivering a lecture titled “Muslim World United and the Role of Motamar Al-Alam Islami” which was organized by Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue of International Islamic University, Islamabad here on Monday. The lecture was presided over by Director General Shariah Academy, Dr Tahir Mansoori.

In the lecture, Dr Gavin D Brockket highlighted the basic objectives and historical perspective of Motamar al-Alam al-Islami. He observed that Motamar played a vital role in the unity of Muslim world and it gave a platform to promote the religion in peaceful manners. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Tahir Mansoori appreciated the briefed lecture of Dr Brocket and said the delivered lecture has given a life to the role of Motamar al-Alam al-Islami in Muslim world. A large number of participants from Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue, Shariah Academy, teachers of Dawah Academy and research associates were also present on the occasion.

IIUI STARTS SHORT ARABIC LANGUAGE COURSE FOR DEANS/ DIRECTORS
Arabic Language Centre at Faculty of Arabic of International Islamic University has started a functional Arabic short course for Deans and Directors of university. First class in this regard was held on Monday where Dr Hafiz Muhammad Bashir, Dean Faculty of Arabic welcomed the participants of the course and briefed them about the contents and techniques of the course. He said Arabic is official language of the university and it is necessary for all the heads officials to get familiar with it. The 2- month course will focus on making officials familiar about basic written and spoken Arabic language.

السفير السوداني الشافي  لدى باكستان يلتقي مع الدكتور أحمد يوسف الدريويش

قام سعادة السفير السوداني لدى جمهورية باكستان الإسلامية الشافي أحمد محمد بزيارة إلى الجامعة الإسلامية العالمية إسلام آباد حيث التقى برئيسها معالي الأستاذ الدكتور أحمد بن يوسف الدريويش. وجرى خلال اللقاء استعراض إمكانية التعاون بين الجامعة الإسلامية العالمية في إسلام آباد والمؤسسات التعليمية في السودان إلى جانب إمكانية المنح الدراسية للطلاب والطالبات السودانيين. ودار النقاش بين الجانبين حول فتح مركز تعليم اللغة العربية من خلال الاستفادة من الأساتذة السودانيين المتخصصين في تدريس اللغة العربية لغير الناطقين بها. وفي هذا السياق قال الدكتور أحمد الدرويش إن من أولى اهتمام الجامعة الإسلامية هي العناية بمستوى تعليم طلاب الأمة الإسلامية والجامعة من طرفها تسعى جاهدة لتحقيق هذا الهدف النبيل مضيفا بأن الجامعة ترحب مبادرة التعاون المتبادل عبر تبادل الخبرات حيث إن ذلك يعود بالخير والنفع على الأمة جمعاء.  وقال السفير السوداني إن الجامعة الإسلامية العالمية إسلام آباد ذريعة لنيل العلوم ذات المستوى العالي مثمنا خدماتها لطلاب وطالبات العالم الإسلامي. وقد حضر اللقاء نائب رئيس الجامعة للشؤون الإدارية والمالية الأستاذ الدكتور صاحبزاده ساجد الرحمن. هذا وقد سلم معالي الأستاذ الدكتور أحمد بن يوسف الدرويش درعا تذكاريا لسعادة السفير السوداني لدى جمهورية باكستان الإسلامية الشافي أحمد محمد.

هيئة التعليم العالي تمنح 10 ملايين روبية لمركز اللغة العربية في الجامعة الإسلامية العالمية إسلام آباد

قدمت هيئة التعليم العالي إسلام آباد منحة قدرها 10 ملايين روبية لمركز اللغة العربية في الجامعة الإسلامية العالمية إسلام آباد وذلك اعترافا لخدماته في تعزيز اللغة العربية. وكان مركز اللغة العربية قد أنشأ في فبراير 2009م ليقيم دورات اللغة العربية القصيرة لعامة الناس وحقق نجاحا ملحوظا في جلب الناس من مختلف قطاعات الحياة وتحفيزهم للغة العربية. أُعطيت المنحة للمركز ليقوم بتوسيع وتعزيز نطاق الدورات القصيرة للغة العربية.

معالي الأستاذ الدكتور الدريويش يشدد على ابتعاد الأطفال عن الاتجاهات السلبية

قال معالي الأستاذ الدكتور أحمد بن يوسف الدريويش رئيس الجامعة الإسلامية العالمية إسلام آباد إن الأطفال قوة المستقبل وأساس الأمة المسلمة مضيفا بأن "نجاحنا يعتمد عليهم لذلك فإن تدريبهم يجب أن يكون من أهم أولوياتنا". جاء ذلك خلال كلمته ألقاها في المقر القديم بمسجد فيصل بمناسبة سنوية لمدارس الجامعة الإسلامية العالمية إسلام آباد فرع "ويسترج" و"راولبندي".  وأشار إلى "أننا نسعى إلى تعزيز مدارس الجامعة الإسلامية العالمية لتدريب الأطفال -الذين هم الأساس القيم للأمة الإسلامية – حسب المنهج الإسلامي الصحيح مطالبا المعلمين باهتمام خاص نحو نجاح الطلاب في حياتهم وجعلهم مواطنين جيدين يخدمون الأمة الإسلامية. وفيما يتعلق بالتحديات الراهنة التي يواجهها العالم الإسلامي قال الدكتور الدريويش: إن من أولى مسؤولياتنا أن نبعد أطفالنا من الميول السلبية مثل العنف والتطرف. وحث المعلمين على تعزيز ثقة النفس بين الأطفال وتشجيعهم على الأنشطة اللامنهجية.  الجدير بالذكر أنه لدى وصول رئيس الجامعة قدم أطفال مدارس الجامعة الإسلامية أناشيد وطنية للملكة العربية السعودية وجمهورية باكستان الإسلامية كما قدموا له باقة الزهور. حضر هذه المناسبة الدكتور سعيد الحسن جشتي مدير مشروع معهد التطوير المهني والآنسة سنيحة وخالد ولفيف من المسؤولين الآخرين.

انطلاق فعاليات الأسبوع الثقافي في الجامعة الإسلامية العالمية إسلام آباد

قال سعادة سفير إندونيسيا لدى جمهورية باكستان الإسلامية برهان محمد: إن الجامعة الإسلامية العالية إسلام آباد من إحدى المراكز التعليمية المنفردة في العالم وإنه لشرف عظيم أن أكون ضيف الشرف لأسبوعها الثقافي مضيفا بأن الجامعة تقوم بدور ريادي في توحيد الدول الإسلامية ومساعي الجامعة وإدارتها وكلياتها في هذا المضمار تستحق كل التقدير وأشار إلى الحاجة الملحة للعلاقات التعليمية واسعة النطاق بين الدول الإسلامية ذلك أن بقاء البلدان النامية يعتمد على القطاع التعليمي مؤكدا على تقديم التعاون للطلاب الإندونيسيين في الجامعة. جاء ذلك في كلمة ألقاها في حفل افتتاحي للأسبوع الثقافي الـ25 واليوبيل الفضي للجامعة الإسلامية العالمية إسلام آباد حيث حضر كل من سعادة سفير السودان لدى باكستان الشافي أحمد محمد ومعالي الأستاذ الدكتور معصوم ياسين زئي راعي الجامعة ومعالي الأستاذ الدكتور أحمد بن يوسف الدريويش رئيس الجامعة ومعالي الأستاذ الدكتور ممتاز أحمد نائب رئيس الجامعة للشؤون الأكاديمية ومعالي السيد مطلوب إقبال وزير التعليم لكشمير الحرة والدكتور سفير أعوان المستشار الطلابي ولفيف من الدبلوماسيين وأعضاء وفود من الدول المختلفة. قال الأستاذ الدكتور معصوم ياسين زئي إن الجامعة تقوم بدور فعال لتعزيز التعليم مع نظرية منفردة من بين 130 جامعة للبلاد مضيفا بأن الأمة الإسلامية تتمتع بالقوة العظيمة للشباب وإذا تم وضعهم على مسار مستقيم حسب القيم الإسلامية الصحيحة والحاجة الراهنة فيمكن لهذه القوة أن تغير العالم بأسره. وحث الدول الإسلامية على أن تعطى اهتماما بالغا لتعليم الشباب. وأوضح أن أولى مهام الجامعة هي تنمية شخصيات معتدلة متناغمة تتنافس مع التحديات المعاصرة. وقال معالي الأستاذ الدكتور أحمد بن يوسف الدريويش في كلمة ترحيبية للأسبوع الثقافي واليوبيل الفيضي إن الجامعة الإسلامية مركز مهم للتعليم الذي هدفه تقوية كفاءات الشباب عبر طاقة التعليم مضيفا بأن الجامعة ليست وحدها تشارك في فعاليات الموسم الثقافي فحسب بل الجامعات الأخرى تساهم أيضا في إنجاح هذه المناسبة الكبيرة. وأكد على ضرورة ابتعاد الطلاب عن العنف والتطرف مشيرا إلى ضرورة التحلي بأخلاق حميدة معتدلة تقود إلى صراط الذين أنعم الله عليهم.

الجامعة الإسلامية العالمية إسلام آباد تنظم مهرجانا رياضيا
نظمت الجامعة الإسلامية العالمية إسلام آباد مهرجانا رياضيا ضمن أنشطة الموسم الثقافي الـ 25والاحتفال باليوبيل الفضي حيث قال معالي رئيس الجامعة الأستاذ الدكتور أحمد بن يوسف الدريويش إن الجامعة تقوم بإنشاء ملعب كرة القدم للطلاب وفق المعيار الدولي لإعدادهم لاعبين دوليين يمثلون الجامعة مضيفا بأن الرياضة هي وسيلة من وسائل بناء الطالب وتنمية قدراته ليصبح طاقة فاعلة في رقي المجتمع.

عقدت كلية الشريعة والقانون قسم الطالبات في الجامعة الإسلامية العالمية إسلام آباد ندوة بعنوان "محتويات عقد النكاح" حيث ألقت كل من "أنيلا عتيق" و"نورين جهتة" و"أمينة بانو" محاميات المحكمة كلمة بهذه المناسبة وقد حضر عميد كلية الشريعة والقانون الدكتور ضياء الحق ورئيسة قسم الأستاذ المساعدة نسيم راضي. شددت المحامية "أنيلا عتيق" على ضرورة تسجيل عقد النكاح وإضافة خانتين عن استلام الهدايا والتحف من قبل العروس في العقد. بدورها نصحت المحامية "نورين جهتة" التي تتابع قضايا عائلية منذ فترة طويلة الطالبات بملء استمارة عقد النكاح بأنفسهن قائلة إن ثمة حاجة ملحة إلى إعادة صياغة محتويات عقد النكاح لحماية حقوق المرأة في المجتمع.

Iqbal International Institute For Research & Dialogue (IRD) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) is organizing a lecture on “ Muslim World United and the Role of Motamar Al-Alam Islami” on April 15, 2013 at 11:30 a.m., at IRD Seminar Room, Faisal Masjid Campus of the university. Dr. Gavin D. Brockett, Associate Professor of Middle East and Islamic History at Wilfrid Laurier University, Ontario, Canada shall be the guest speaker on the occasion.

DR. NOOR FATIMA’S BOOK ON ROLE OF MEDIA DURING PNA MOVEMENT LAUNCHED
Launching ceremony of the book titled “ Press and Politics: Role of Print Media during PNA Movement against Bhutto” by Dr Noor Fatima, Chair Person of department of Politics and International Relations, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) held at Alternative Media and Research (SAMAR) office. Senior journalist M. Ziauddin presided over the ceremony while many researchers, journalists and renowned figures including Nasir Zaidi, Raza Rumi, Mazahar Arif and Dr. Nabi Bux Jumani, Dean Faculty of social sciences IIUI were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, Dr. Noor Fatima said she wanted to produce a book as a content analysis tutorial for the media students. She briefed about the role of English and Urdu dailies during the PNA movement.

The book is based on academic research by Dr. Noor Fatima in which she has done content analysis of editorials and lead stories from main four newspapers of that time, during PNA movement.

IIUI HOLDS ISLAMIC EXHIBITION AT ITS FEMALE CAMPUS
Department of Dawah & Islamic Civilization, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has organized a unique Islamic exhibition titled as “The Use of different type of modern information media to spread Islam”. Dr. Zaitoon Begum, Director Female Campus, IIUI, Fouzia Saeed, Lecturer, Faculty of Usuluddin (Female) were chief guests on the occasion. The exhibition aims to provide a platform for students to experience and explore creativity, personality development and to correct the misunderstood image of Islam.

Dr. Zaitoon Begum while visiting the exhibition said that Media is a powerful institution which can play a vital role in spreading Islam. He said that students of IIUI have launched a page titled “Islamic Directions” and a Magazine named “Beauty of Islam” on face book. Female students of the university displayed banners, cards and book marks with Hadiths and Quranic verses in the exhibition.

 

IIUI FACULTY MEMBERS PARTICIPATES IN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE
Dr. Naeem Ahmad, Assistant Professor, Dept. of Physics, Faculty of Basic & Applied Sciences of the International Islamic University, Islamabad presented research paper titled “Ion irradiation effects and magnetization reversal in (Ni80Fe20)100-XCoX nanowires and nanotubes” in an international conference titled “12th joint Intermag / MMM”, organized by the American Institute of Physics in Chicago, Illinois, USA and another research paper in the poster session. He also discussed with the scientists in USA and Europe to enhance collaboration with International Islamic University Islamabad in research work and exchange of students.

ORIENTATION SEMINARS BY THE DEPARTMENT OF TRANSLATION & INTERPRETATION
The Department of Translation and Interpretation (T&I) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) organized orientation seminars on “Job opportunities in the field of Translation and Interpretation inside and outside Pakistan” in Islamabad Model College for Boys (IMCB) and in Government College for Girls F-Block Satellite Town, Rawalpindi in order to create educational ties with other institutions as directed by Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President IIUI. A large number of the students and faculty members of the both colleges participated in the seminars.

Prof. Ali Yar, Principal IMCB and Muhammad Ali Siddiqui, Vice Principal (Head of Arabic Dept and faculty other faculty members attended the seminar. Dr. Muhammad Nawaz, Faculty member T&I, Shair Ali, Asst. Prof. T&I, Ms. Nargis Nazir, Assistant Professor were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Muhammad Nawaz highlighted various job opportunities in the field of translation and interpretation inside and outside Pakistan. He said there is a dire need of trained and qualified translators and interpreters in foreign Embassies and Ministries. He also informed about the scope of professional translators and interpreters.

Mr Shair Ali Khan also spoke on the occasion and highlighted the expanding role of translation in the age of globalization beside the religious value and importance of Arabic language to understand the Holy Quran and Sunnah. Mr. Nazir Ahmad lecturer Department of (T&I), talked about the market value of translation and interpreting. Meanwhile, the department of Translation and interpretation also organized a seminar on aforesaid topic in “Jamia Mohammadia” Islamabad.

IIUI HOLDS SEMINAR ON “RECENT ADVANCES IN MOLECULAR BIOLOGY TECHNIQUES RELATED TO PARASITCS INFECTIONS”
Department of Bioinformatics and Biotechnology (BI&BT) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has organized a seminar “Recent Advances in Molecular Biology Techniques related to Parasitic Infections”. Prof. Dr. Luca Rossi, Vice Dean University of Turin, Italy was the guest speaker on the occasion while Dr. Jabar Zaman Khan Khattak, Chairman, BI & BT, IIUI chaired the seminar. Dr. Muhammad Sher, Dean Faculty of Basis & Applied Sciences and a large number of students also attended the seminar. While addressing to the seminar Dr. Jabar Zaman Khattak, conveyed the message of Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President IIUI that to develop a better research work and awareness of latest development in the western universities, the International Islamic University, Islamabad shall organize interenational seminar and workshops.

IIIE ORGANIZES PRIZE DISTRIBUTION CEREMONY
In recognition of the performance of teachers, staff and students the International Institute of Islamic Economics of International Islamic University (IIUI) organized award ceremonies at male and female campuses of the university separately. The ceremonies were presided over by Dr. Asad Zaman, Director General of International Institute of Islamic Economics (IIIE). Ceremony held in the female campus was attended by Shagufta Haroon, Director Academics, Dr. Zaitoon Begum, Director Female Campus, female students and faculty members while in male campus it was attended by Head School of Islamic Economics, Dr. Pervez Zamurd Janjua, Dr. Yaseen, Dr. Noor ul Hasani, Ather Rafique, staff members and a large number of students.

Addressing to the ceremony, Dr Asad Zaman appreciated the performance of students in sports and curricular activities and said students are the future builders of nation. He said the purpose of this activity is to acknowledge the services of all the contributors associated with the institute. He added that good performance should be encouraged and negative attitude should be discouraged as well. He said we should follow the Islamic conduct and work hard with devotion to achieve the aims and objectives of the university. At the end, Shields, certificates and cash prizes were awarded to the best performers.

13TH SHORT ARABIC COURSE STARTS
Linguistic centre of Arabic department of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) launches 13th Short Arabic language course.In his opening remarks, Acting head of Faculty of Arabic, Dr. Muhammad Bashir said that Arabic is very much easy to learn as compare to any other language. Allah Almighty made Arabic easy to understand for human being, as He has chosen Arabic as the language of divine religion Islam. He said that world linguistics are agreed on the fact that except the Arabic, every language lost itself with the course of time. But Arabic is as much alive as it was ever in the beginning even after the centuries passed. While on the same occasion, speaking to the session, Dr. Habib ur Rehman Asim said that, lot of sentences, proverbs and handsome vocabulary of Arabic, is available in our regional languages, it’s just need to understand and identify them separately. He further said that being Muslims we have also close association with Arabic.

  في إطار فعاليات العيد الفضي للأسبوع الثقافي الـ25 أقامت الجامعة الإسلامية العالمية إسلام آباد أمسية شعرية أردية في الحرم الجامعي قسم الطلاب مساء الجمعة الماضي. حيث حضر معظم الشعراء من مختلف مدن البلاد. وكان ضيف شرف الشاعر افتخار عارف بينما كان الشاعر أسلم أنصاري رئيسا للأمسية فضلا عن ذلك فقد شارك كل من الشعراء: جليل عالي، وخالد مسعود، وعابد سيال، والدكتور حبيب الرحمن عاصم، والدكتور روش نديم، وشهاب صفدر، وحاتم صديقي، وإحسان أكبر، والدكتور أبرار عمر، وعطاء تراب، وحيران ختك، واسماعيل كوهر  وأسامة جمشيد ولفيف من الشعراء الآخرين الذين قدموا قصائد تناولت هموم الذات الشاعرة في ظل شيوع حياة التقنية وشيوع حياة المدنية التي أعادت الشعراء لتقديم نصوصا شعرية عن الطفولة حينا، وعن غزليات الشباب حينا آخر. وقد استحق جميع الشعراء تقديرا بالغا من الحضور. الجدير بالذكر أن هذه الأمسية كانت فعالية أخيرة اختتم بها الأسبوع الثقافي في الجامعة الإسلامية العالمية إسلام آباد. 

IIUI HOLDS MEHFIL-E-MUSHAIRA
The International Islamic University (IIUI) organized Mehfil e Mushaira which was last activity of 25th cultural week and silver jubilee celebrations. Renowned poet Iftikhar Arif was the chief guest on the occasion while Aslam Ansari presided over the ceremony, both poets and recited their famous poems and Ghazals. Famous poets of twin cities and from various parts of the country including Jalil Aali, Khalid Masood, Abid Sial, Habib ur Rehman Asim, Dr. Rawish Nadeem, Shahab Safdar, Hatim Siddiqui, Ehsan Akbar, Dr. Abrar Omer Atta Turab, Hairan Khattak and Ismail Gohar recited their poetry. Literary figures and a large number of students of the university attended the event. 25TH CULTURAL WEEK & SILVER JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS CONCLUDES
The colourful 25th cultural week and silver jubilee celebration of International Islamic University (IIUI) in female campus concluded here on Friday. Prize distribution ceremony was the last activity of the mega event which was held in the female campus of the university.

Aljourah Abdullah A Alarifi, wife of Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Pakistan was the chief guest and Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Rector IIUI presided over the ceremony, Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, Vice President (Academics), High Commissioner of Nigeria and diplomats from US and other embassies were also present on the occasion.

While addressing to the ceremony Aljourah Abdullah said that cultural week celebrations create an atmosphere of unity and harmony among the students of countries of Muslim Ummah. She lauded the efforts of Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh for taking keen interest to make the mega event successful up to international level. She said such events help to bring the various cultures closer and provide opportunity to students of different countries to explore the salient features of cultures of other countries. She said cooperation between the students belonging to various cultures in the cultural activities shows that university has an equal opportunity without any discrimination for all.

Earlier, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai in his welcoming note said that IIUI always committed to equip its students with modern knowledge and to produce minds integrated with teachings of Islam. He said success of mega event is a visible example that IIUI is committed to promote culture of Islamic countries. He said IIUI is a unique hub of learning which aims at building trust among the students of various countries and broadening their vision. Dr Yasinzai said university is contemplating to enhance the budget for the cultural week activities and to establish a students activity centre in the female campus of IIUI. He urged the students to work on creative projects and assured them that university would assist them on all forums in this regard. He said IIUI is striving for encouraging its bright students as they are real asset of Muslim Ummah.

Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed, in his address said that success of IIUI cultural week and silver jubilee celebrations has proved that it is a unique institute with international repute. He assured that all the demands of female campus for cultural activities will be discussed with the relevant authorities as early as possible. High Commissioner of Nigeria in Pakistan announced fifty thousands rupees for tree plantation campaign of IIUI.

Earlier, Dr. Zaitoon Begum, Director Female Campus also addressed on the occasion and congratulated the university employees and students. She assured that next cultural week will also be more successful. Dr. Munnaza Yaqoob, Incharge Student Activity (Female) in her address, briefed the participants about the activities of cultural week and appreciated the cooperation of university employees and students. At the end, Prizes were distributed among the winners of different competitions. Shields and certificates were also given to the active organizers of the event while exchange of souvenirs also took place on the occasion.

URDU DEPT. HOLDS LECTURE ON “IQBAL & NEW GENERATION”
Department of Urdu of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) held a lecture on “ Iqbal & New Generation” at Central Library, in connection with 25th Cultural Week & Silver Jubilee celebrations of the university. Renowned scholar and poet Dr. Aslam Ansari was the guest speaker while Dr. Najeeb Jamal, Chairman Dept. of Urdu, IIUI presided over the ceremony and Dr. Rawish Nadeem was the resource person on the occasion.

Dr. Aslam Ansari delivered a lecture on Iqbal’s thought, message and philosophy of self, in which he explored different aspects of Iqbal’s Philosophy of life. He denied the concept of elevated position of man and meaning of life without knowing the “self” in the universe. He said Iqbal conveyed a message of self actualization, hardworking and encouragement to Muslim youth when the Muslim society was declining and victim of pessimism. At the end, participants were given a chance to ask the questions on the subject.

IIUI HOLDS WORKSHOP ON “PREPARING FOR FULBRIGHT SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION”
Lincoln Corner, Central Library of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) organized a workshop on “Preparing for Fulbright Scholarship Application” for Male faculty members and students of the university, in collaboration with United State Education Foundation Pakistan (USEFP). Mr. Amer Malik and Mr. Rahat Karim Educational Advisers of USEFP and Mr. Maqsood Shaheen Reference Specialist at US Embassy, Islamabad were the resource persons on the occasion.

Mr. Shaheen gave the presentation on E-Library while Mr. Karim and Mr. Amer Malik highlighted variety of scholarships, especially focusing on application process, eligibility criteria, statement, and deadlines of Fulbright Master and PhD degree programs. Ms. Sidra Shan, the Lincoln Corner Coordinator, opened the program and encouraged the audience to take advantage of advising services available at USEFP.

2-DAY SEMINAR ON “IIUI TODAY AND FUTURE VISION” CONCLUDES
Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has said, University equipped with renowned capable scholars, dedicated faculty which is playing its role with great devotion and hoped that the university would be one of the top ranked universities of the world, President of IIUI was addressing to concluding ceremony of the seminar on the topic “IIUI today and future vision” at Quaid -e- Azam Auditorium, Faisal Masjid. Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, Vice President University (Academics), Deans of various faculties and senior staff members were also present on the occasion. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Safeer Awan and Dr. Tahir Mansoori presented recommendations of the seminar.

Al-Draiweesh said the seminar will set new targets of developments, and will help in getting the sky of progress, by removing the pointed deficiencies. He further said responsible elite of the university concerning to academia and administration respectively should demonstrate association with IIUI heartedly, by doing so; we would accomplish the real meanings of the establishment of University. He said that it is our utmost preference to create balance and moderate environment in the University and keep students away from the pessimist and gloomy Gus thinking.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh wished the continuation of the seminars, he also showed interest to seek the suggestions, opinion and recommendations from the respective members, so university may face the existing and upcoming challenges of the time.

Addressing to the seminar vice president of the IIUI Dr. Mumtaz said “it is important to have collective and handsome efforts of the dedicated people for the development and progress of any institution”. He appreciated the very energetic participation of the teachers, scholars and administrative authority in the seminar. He further said that we still need to strive for the achievement of high rank among the contemporaries and Islamic University have to play a unique role in betterment of Pakistan and Muslim Ummah.

On the second day of the seminar Dr. Nabi Bux Jumani, Dr. Abdul Qadir Haroon, Dr. Muhammad Tahir Khalili, Dr. Samina Malik, Dr. Muhammad Khaleequzzaman, Mr. Nabil Alfauly Muhammad, Dr. Inam ul Haq Ghazi, Hafiz Dr. Abid Masood, Dr. Nasr-ur-Din Khudhry, Dr. Ayaz Afsar, Dr. Muhammad Sajid Mirza, Mr. Ikram ul Haq and Mr. Naseem Razi presented their research papers on the subject.

ASA HOLDS OATH TAKING CEREMONY
Oath taking ceremony for newly elected office bearers of Academic Staff Association (ASA) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) held at New Campus of the University. Prof. Dr. Tahir Mansoori, Director General Shriah Academy presided over the ceremony and administered the oath ceremony. President ASA, Attiq ul Zafar, General Secretary ASA, Saeed ul Hassan Chishti and Former President of ASA, Dr. Muhammad Sher and large number of faculty members were also present on the occasion. While addressing the ceremony, Dr Attiq ul Zafar said ASA is committed to protect the rights of the academic staff and it will continue its services for the development of the university. He urged the newly elected members to devote themselves for achieving the goals and objectives of the association.

Earlier, Dr. Muhammad Sher, Former President ASA in his address informed the participants about the performance and achievements of the association. He said ASA is striving for creating a democratic environment among the faculties and present elections are the visible example. He said association always struggled for ending the atmosphere of favoritism and hoped new members will keep working for this cause. At the end association hosted lunch in honour of participants of the ceremony.

FSL STUDENTS VISIT THE ISLAMABAD HIGH COURT
Students of the Faculty of Shariah & Law (FSL), LLB First Year, Law Department of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) visited the Islamabad High Court on April 1, 2013.The study tour included a visit to the Bar Room and Offices of Bar Association and court rooms. The graduating class also witnessed the proceedings of different cases and Inter Court Appeals. This visit allowed the students to get familiar with the court proceedings and to get firsthand information regarding the methodology employed by advocates in a court of law.

In order to ensure that the students continue to be acquainted with the workings of the judicial system General Secretary of Islamabad High Court Bar, Qamar Naib Raja and General Secretary, Junaid Akhtar shared their experiences with the students and advised them to follow code of conduct. They also guided the students about the scope in the field of law for females.

Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President IIUI shall be the chief guest on the occasion.

IIUI HOLDS 2-DAY SEMINAR ON “IIUI TODAY & FUTURE VISION”
Professor Dr. Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has said we are committed to make the university a unique center of learning and research and said IIUI will soon achieve its goal of a prestigious and reputed institution in the world.

He was addressing to inaugural ceremony of a two-day seminar titled “IIUI today and future vision” held at Faisal Mosque campus on Monday. Dr Mumtaz Ahmad, Vice President (Academics), Dr Tahir Mansoori, Director General Shariah Academy, Deans and Directors of various faculties and academies were also present on the occasion.

Dr Al-Draiweesh urged the participants to utilize their capabilities and intellects for the development of university. He hoped seminar will help to open new ways to make IIUI quality institution. He said suggestions to improve the vision of university will be welcomed and core objective of this seminar is to acquire positive results for the progress of university. He said all the employees should devote themselves to create an atmosphere of brotherhood and harmony in the in university . He said IIUI is not only serving Pakistan but whole Ummah and Muslims have lot of hopes from us, we should get united and become an example of success.

Dr Al Draiweesh said our top priority is to create an atmosphere of moderation in the university and teach our youth to refrain from extremism. He said we are keenly emphasizing on quality education of female students and discussions and suggestions on this particular aspect will be part of this seminar. He said active participation of teachers can make this seminar a milestone in the development of our university. He reaffirmed his resolve to solve all problems of teachers and students on priority bases. He said this seminar is a platform for us to set targets for future achievements. President of IIUI said we should focus more on research as it is need of hour.

Earlier, while highlighting the importance of the seminar Dr Mumtaz said” we will have to improve infrastructure commensurate with the needs of our academic programs, and also promote a culture of free inquiry, critical thinking, and progressive outlook on issues facing Pakistan and the Muslim Ummah. Dr Mumtaz further made it clear, that the founders of the university wanted to produce Islamic scholars, who could relate the teachings of Quran and Sunnah and Islamic traditions to the problems of the modern world. They also wanted to train the graduates who could make a distinction between what is fundamental and permanent in Sharia on the one hand and what is peripheral and transitory on the other. He stressed the need to produce graduates who have capability to engage with the West and the rest. He said “ our fundamental obligation is to live in conformity with and promote Islamic teaching, values, heritage, this rich heritage is neither stagnant nor unchangeable; rather it is constant process of renewal, reforms and transformation.

On the first day of seminar, Dr. Tahir Mansoori, Dr. Sohail Hassan, Dr. Nabi Bux Jumani, Dr. Imtiaz Zafar, Dr. Asad Zaman, Dr. M Bashir, Dr.Zia ul Haq, Dr. Zafar ullah Baig, Dr. Manawar Iqbal Gondal, Dr. Bashir Khan and Dr. Muhammad Sher presented their suggestions and opinions to strengthening and promote the future vision of the university. SERIES OF LECTURES ON “SEERAH” CONCLUDES
“Prophet Muhammad (PBHU) shaped an ideal society, purifies and brings revolutionary reforms and changed the course of history. Students of Seerah should analyze with great care while study the features of life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)” it was said by distinguish guest speaker, Dr. Muhammad Yaseen Mazhar Siddique, Director, Shah Wali Ullah Dahlvi Research Cell, Institute of Islamic Studies of Ali Garh University Ali Garh, India while addressing to the concluding session of the series of lecture on “Seerah” organized by the Islamic Research Institute (IRI). Dr. Yousuf Farooque, Former Director General of Shariah Academy was the chief guest on the occasion while large number of faculty members and students attended the concluding session.

Dr. Mazhar Siddique, put strong emphases to students of Seerah that, they should be more concerned of all the aspects pertaining to Seerah, he said that all the external and internal elements, and all the evidences that were found in the society of that time have had much worth, to narrate the fact and true history about the Prophet (PBUH) and the divine religion Islam. He expressed that these societal evidences have great importance in history, because Prophet (PBUH) brought the revolutionary reforms in the history, gave the light of living life to the Arabs.

Dr. Mazhar Siddique urged to avoid the exaggeration while writing or describing the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He guided students about the writing and exploring the different phases of Seerah to make it easy for understanding of the societal norms and social attitude of Arabs. Dr Muhammad Yaseen also touched the pure societal issues of the Arab and life of Prophet Muhammad (PBHU) regarding trade, agriculture, and fine art. In his thought provoking lecture, Dr Yaseen gave the guidance to the student how to conduct the research work and make the chapters of life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He threw the light on the references, links to life of Prophet Muhammad (PBHU) which are available in Holy book Quran and Hadiths.

Sharing his views on closing session on the study and analyzing the different aspects of Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) Life and Seerah former Director General Shariah Academy Dr Muhammad Yousaf Farooque pleased to thanks to distinguish guest and emphasized to have more series of such lectures for the students of Seerah.

IIUI TO HOLD 2-DAY SEMINAR ON “IIUI TODAY & FUTURE VISION”
Two-day seminar on “IIUI Today & Future Vision” will start on (Monday) April 1st, 2013 at International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI). Inaugural Ceremony of the seminar will be held at 09:30 am at Quaid-e-Azam Auditorium, Faisal Mosque Campus of the university. Professor Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President IIUI shall preside over the opening and closing ceremonies of the seminar. Professor Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, Vice President (Academics) will chair the first session of seminar on Monday. Deans of Various faculties and Head of Departments will participate in the seminar and shall present their papers on the subject.

The seminar aims at enhancing the teaching and training development in IIUI while aspects of research culture and language teaching will also be discussed in seminar. Participants will also discuss current practices and future trends in IIUI.

Earlier, Dr. Al-Draiweesh Presided over a meeting on Thursday to overview the preparations and arrangements of the seminar. He directed all the responsible committees to complete all the arrangements in time for positive outcome of the seminar.

IIUI HOLDS PRIZE DISTRIBUTION
Dr. Rushdi Al-Ani, Ambassador of Iraq to Pakistan has said “Youth is real asset and power of Muslim Ummah and they are its future builders. Youth can play vital role in the development of Ummah and no doubt they are a ray of hope”. This he said while addressing to the prize distribution ceremony of (Male) in connection with 25th Cultural Week and Silver Jubilee celebrations of the International Islamic University (IIUI). Professor Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President IIUI, delegates of Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, Saudi Arabia, Dr. Safeer Awan, students Advisor (Male), Deans of various faculties and head of departments were also present on the occasion.

Dr. Rushdi felicitated President IIUI, university administration and students on successfully organizing the mega event of the university. He stressed upon the students that they should get benefit of these cultural week activities and should continue to participate for the image building and progress of the university. He said such activities like cultural week bring the students of various countries closer and present event has open new ways for students of different Muslim countries to get united and work for the progress and development of Muslim Ummah.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Al-Draiweesh congratulated the University administration and students and said success of our cultural week has shown that IIUI is one of the leading international universities where not only quality education is being provided but also cultural promotion is its salient characteristic. He said most important outcome of this cultural week is that now we are more united and closer which will help us to work together with the zeal for the progress of Pakistan and Muslim Ummah. He said we are thankful to delegation of Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud university and diplomats of various countries who came in our mega event. He said this interaction has lead to expand our educational ties with the institutions of other countries.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh said we have achieved our goals in this cultural week but journey towards success should continue with more pace and passion. He congratulated the students who took positions in different competitions. He stressed upon students to adopt moderation and avoid the attitude of violence and extremism in their lives.

Dr. Safeer Awan, in his vote of thanks appreciated the efforts of all employees and students of university and thanked all the delegates for their special participation in cultural week.

At the end, Prizes were distributed by President IIUI and Ambassador of Iraq (Chief Guest) among the winner students. Exchange of souvenirs also took place at the occasion. Later, Dr. Al-Draiweesh visited an exhibition of calligraphy at central library and lauded the artistic abilities of the students.

MULTI CULTURAL PERFORMERS ENTHRALL AUDIENCE AT IIUI CULTURAL NIGHT
Male Campus of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) witnessed a colorful night on Thursday when performers of more than 40 countries brought their cultures on stage of IIUI 25th Cultural Week and Silver Jubilee celebrations’ Cultural Night. Students were on their feet when fireworks and most appreciated performance by renowned actor Imtiaz Ali Kashif took place. Delegation members of Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud, Islamic University of Saudi Arabia, Dr. Safeer Awan, Student Advisor (Male), Dr. Tahir Khaili, Head Department of Psychology and diplomats of different countries were also present on the occasion.

Pakistani Students from all provinces and students of various countries portrayed their cultures in drams, skits, Qawalis, one man shows, poetry recitation and anthems. Performance of Afghan students and funny Qawali by the students of Shariah & Law were much appreciated by audience but most enjoyed moments by the students were when fire works took place to celebrate the Cultural Night of the mega event. Most awaited and captivating performance by Imtiaz Ali Kashif made the audience to applause for even minutes and ‘once more’ voices kept coming from the back and front of the audience after his performance. At the end of the mega events’ night, Dr. Safeer Awan presented the shield to the special guest Imtiaz Ali Kashif. Activities of IIUI 25th cultural week and Silver Jubilee celebrations will conclude with the Grand Mushaira which will take place on April 5 (Friday).
