IIUI Steering Committee Reviews Journal Development and Sustainability in ORIC Meeting

A meeting of the IIUI Journals Steering Committee (IJSC), organized by the Office of Research, Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC), was held at the Council Hall of the Admin Block, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI). The meeting was chaired by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, President of IIUI, and attended by focal persons and committee members from various faculties.

The agenda, presented by Dr. Muhammad Amir, Director ORIC, included the initiation of new research journals in the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) and Faculty of Arabic (FOA), restoration of the journal Hawliyat-Al-Jamiah, editorial changes, and the overall sustainability of IIUI journals.

Dr. Shuja stressed the importance of aligning all initiatives with the Higher Education Commission (HEC) standards. He emphasized the university’s responsibility to support the production of quality research journals and highlighted knowledge creation as a core academic obligation. “Quality journals should be our priority, even if the quantity remains limited,” he remarked.

Deliberations also covered grant management, audit mechanisms, and the inclusion of the finance team in future meetings to address funding and expenditure challenges. The committee discussed revising editorial boards, structural development, and forming pathways for efficient journal publication management.

The Steering Committee reaffirmed its commitment to reviewing and resolving challenges related to journal activation, restoration, and sustainability, aiming to enhance IIUI’s research profile in line with national academic standards.
