The Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) has launched a monthly capacity-building workshop series titled “Gap Identification & Utilization of Artificial Intelligence for Expedited Research Processes.” The initiative, led by Dean Professor Dr. Manzoor Khan Afridi, aims to strengthen research skills among faculty and students.
The first session was held on May 14, 2025, at the FSS Seminar Room, H-10 campus. It was developed and delivered by Dr. Noreen Saher, who proposed the workshop series. Her session, “Research Gap Identification and Academic AI Tools,” focused on identifying research gaps through literature reviews and using AI tools to support academic work.
Dr. Saher emphasized the importance of balancing Artificial Intelligence (AI) with Original Intelligence (OI) in research. She introduced the “3Ps” framework Process, People, and Performance as a guide for responsible and effective AI use in academic settings.
The workshop saw active participation from students and faculty across various departments. Organizers announced that the series will continue monthly to promote consistent growth in research practices and collaboration within the academic community.
