IIUI HOLDS SEMINAR ON WASTE MANAGEMENT, ROLE OF YOUTH

Planet eb1arth demands responsibility of human beings in terms of keeping it clean and pollution free, said Dr. Al-Draiweesh, President, International Islamic University, Islamabad on Wednesday.

He was addressing a seminar on “Waste Management and Role of Youth” at female campus of the university organized by the department of bioinformatics and bio technology of the university.

“World is spending a large amount of money on protection of environment because it is a matter of future of coming generation” said IIUI President. Global warming, lack of strategies for utilization of waste are the topics which must be a top priority of nations. He opined that universities cab play vital role in creating awareness among masses and IIUI soon would be in leading ranks for dissemination of this cause. Dr. Al-Draiweesh directed the department to hold a research competition on “protection of environment” and announced that its winner students and supervisor wib2ll be awarded by the university. He said that IIUI management will fully support this activity. The IIUI President furthered that Islam is staunch supporter of cleanliness and it teaches to keep the environment pollution free. He urged the youth to come forward and work for a pollution free society.

The event was also addressed by the guest speakers who included Mr. Farrukh, a waste management expert, Mr. Tariq Khan, Head clean, green Pakistan. They called for collective efforts of society for utilization of waste materials.

Earlier, Dr. Asma Gul, Chairman of the department spoke on the topic and welcomed the guests and vowed that such activities be continued in future.

Later, IIUI President and guest speakers also visited stalls of the students where they presented waste management techniques.
