IIUI HOLDS SEMINAR ON INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) marked the international women day on Wednesday, where a seminar on “Pakistani Women’s potential for self-development in the contemporary world: An Islamic perspective was held at the varsity’s Faisal Masjid campus.

Partnering with Lead Pakistan, Pakistan Agricultural Research Council, Pakistan Meteorological Department, the Hashoo Foundation, the Technology Times Scientific Newspaper and International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), this event at IIUI brought together experts and professionals from multiple disciples and professional spheres to celebrate women’s achievements.

The seminar was attended by Chairperson Benazir Income Support Program, Marvi Memon, Rector IIUI, Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, President IIUI, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, Director female campus, IIUI Dr. Samina Malik and other high officials of the university.

Marvi Memon, in her speech stressed upon the need for women to be assertive and to accept challenges. She urged upon the young women to celebrate their contributions as active members of the society by sharing responsibilities for the progress of our country as agents of change. She opined that by following teachings of Islam women can lead the country towards the destination of prosperity.

IIUI Rector, said in his remarks that IIUI is the best place for celebration of the International Women’s Day as university has more than 13 thousand on campus female students who hail from more than 40 countries of the world. He added that university has an ample collection of the cultural diversity which represents a unique harmony.

President IIUI said on the occasion Islam is staunch supporter of women rights. He said that Islam advocates education of women and it is the religion which gave women their due rights of property and family. He said that separate female campus for the female students is IIUI’s distinction and its female staff and students have proved that women have a vital contribution in the progress of Muslim Ummah. In the program, students also delivered speeches on the topic. At the end, Dr. Samina Malik, Director Female Campus, gave the vote of thanks.
