ASA HOLDS OATH TAKING CEREMONY

Newly elected members of Academic Staff Association (ASA) of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) sworn in, in an oath taking ceremony held at male campus of university here on Wednesday. President IIUI Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh administrated the oath to the newly elected ASA members who joined the ASA body.

On the occasion, Prof Dr. Abdul Jaleel, took oath as President ASA while the oath taking ceremony was also attended by university Vice Presidents newly elected ASA members, old members of the association, Deans, Directors, and large number of academic community of IIUI.

Dr. Shehzad Ashraf Chaudhary has joined ASA as General Secretary, Dr. Faiz ur Rahim as Vice President (male), Dr. Taimia as Vice President female, Dr. Maliha Asma as Joint Secretary female, Dr. Zaheer ud Din Behram as Finance Secretary, Dr. Sameen Aftab as Information Secretary female, Mr. Atif Sahi as information secretary male and Dr. Habibullah as joint secretary.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Al-Draiweesh said teachers have vital role in dissemination of knowledge in the society and spreading knowledge, involving people in education is actually equal to following of the teachings of Holy Prophet (PBUH). “IIUI is heading towards a destination of success and achievements of its lofty goals, it’s becoming possible with the united efforts by the administration and academic staff” said President IIUI.

He vowed that steps for the prosperity of the teaching community of university and its problems would be seen by a committee of Vice Presidents and Director female campus who will come up soon with practical solutions to the issues. Dr. Al-Draiweesh urged the participants of the ceremony to forge unity among their ranks and refrain from personal differences.

While congratulating the new members of ASA, Dr. Al-Draiweesh vowed full support and hoped new addition to the association would be proved as meaningful development for the varsity. President ASA, Dr. Abdul Jaleel stressed in his address that academic excellence must be the top priority.

Earlier, former President ASA, Dr. Zafar Iqbal presented a comprehensive report of the body while mentioning key achievements. He hailed teaching community of the university for support, and vowed to cooperate with newly elected members for achievement of goals which he said would pave way for the progress of university.

Shields to the former President ASA Dr. Zafar Iqbal and other former members were awarded by President IIUI, while a crest was also presented to Dr. Al-Draiweesh from ASA. Later, a luncheon was held in the honour of the President IIUI, newly elected ASA members and academic community.
