IIUI HOLDS MOOT ON IQBAL’S THOUGHTS IN BOSNIA

7International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) organized a one-day conference on “Iqbal’s message and thoughts” in Bosnia.

The moot was a joint effort of Iqbal International Institute for Research and Dialogue (IRD) of IIUI and Faculty of Islamic Studies of Bosnia’s Sarajevo University.

It was held in the central auditorium of Sarajevo University which was attended by the Chief Organizer and President IIUI, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, Executive Director, IRD, IIUI, Dr. Husnul Amin, Dr. Susic Sejo, IIUI, Advisor to IIUI President, Dr. Ashraf Abdul Rafay, Dean of Sarajevo university and other high officials of the university, Head of King Fahad Cultural Centre, Bosnia, Dr. Muhammad Bin Hassan Al e Shiekh, renowned Bosnian scholars and faculty members of Sarajevo university.

9The participants of the conference opined that Allama Iqbal was a Philosopher who rightly diagnosed the Muslim world’s problems and addressed those through his thoughts and poetry in light of Islamic teachings. They termed Iqbal as true lover of Quran and said he took guidance from the life of Holy Prophet (PBUH). They maintained that Muslim youth must be introduced to the thoughts of Allama Iqbal so they could address the prevailing challenges.

Earlier, Dr. Al-Draiweesh thanked the Sarajevo University especially its faculty and management of Islamic studies for cooperation in organizing the moot. He said that Iqbal was a scholar and philosopher who stressed upon Muslim unity. He said that Iqbal’s thoughts are a source of having an idea to deal with contemporary challenges such as terrorism, misinterpretations of Islam and lack of Muslim prosperity. He also discussed Iqbal’s narrations and various times and aspects of his life.
