IIUI HOLDS CONFERENCE ON SOCIAL DISCREPANCIES & REMEDIES IN SOCIOLOGICAL PERSPECTIVES

The Department of Sociology and Iqbal International Institute for research and Dialogue, International Islamic University Islamabad organized one day National Conference on “Social Discrepancies and Their Remedies in Sociological Perspectives” at the Quaid-e-Azam Auditorium in the Old Campus of IIUI.

In the inaugural ceremony, Senator Mr. Mushahid Hussain Sayyed was the chief guest. President of IIUI, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh was the guest of honor.  Prof. Dr. Anoosh Khan was the key note speaker in augural session. Other speakers included Prof. Dr. Samina Malik, Dr. Husnul Amin, Director-IRD, and Dr. Hazir Ullah, Chairman Department of Sociology, IIUI. The key note speaker Prof. Dr. Anoosh Khan, Prof. Dr. Samina Malik and Chief guest, Senator Mushahid Hussain highlighted that social inequalities have increased in contemporary Pakistani society and pose a considerable threat to social cohesion.

IIUI President appreciated the theme and called upon universities to find solutions of the contemporary issues faced by societies. He maintained that true practice of Islam, equality, care of citizens and protection of human rights are the attributes of the society which are salient for its stability.

Mr. Mushahid Hussain stressed on educating young males and females for prosperous and developed Pakistan. Scholars from different universities across Pakistan Participated in the Conference.

A large number of the social scientists, researchers, scholars and social and developmental specialists across the country shared their research works with the students and other academicians. At the closing ceremony, Prof. Dr. N. B. Jumani was the key note speaker in the closing session. Dr Hazir Ullah, Chairman Department of Sociology and Dy. Dean Faculty of social sciences extended vote of thanks to the all the session chairs, participants, organizers and management of the conference.
