IIUI ACADEMIC COUNCIL DISCUSSES ONLINE CLASSES

The 77th meeting of the academic council of International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) was held at new campus.

The meeting was attended by President IIUI, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh through video link, while it was also attended by Acting President, IIUI, Prof Dr Aqdas Naveed Malik, Vice-Presidents, Deans, Director Academics, Director Examination, heads of departments, Heads of special committees for online education and other faculty members.

Thee meeting discussed online Viva Voce exam for MS, PhD students, deliberations and decisions over Online Learning Management System (LMS), endorsements of the minutes of previous Academic Council meeting and other important agenda items.

The meeting also discussed all possible circumstances including continuation of halted on-campus activities amid pandemic and preparations in response.

The participants also discussed steps to prevent and combat the spread of the coronavirus in IIUI.
It was noted on the occasion that as per guidelines of Higher Education Commission (HEC), all the faculties were engaged to be well prepared for commening the academic activities online from June 1 in case of continued closure of the university.
The council decided to conduct online Viva Voice Exams to save students from academic loss.

On the occasion, detailed modalities for Viva Voce exams were discussed which were brought forward by exams section. The meeting also discussed Pakistan Engineering Council’s (PEC) guidelines for online teaching-learning and assessment implementation during Covid-19 pandemic.

The IIUI President called upon faculties to devise well balanced policy for online classes and urged them to ensure maximum benifits and exquisite implementation of LMS. He also directed that trainings for LMS must be conducted by all the faculties. He said management and faculty together were working best to save academic loss.
Dr. Al-Draiweesh stressed for contemporary and relevant to the society research. He highlighted the importance of academic council and maintained that it is one of the most vital forums to pursue the university’s goal of internationalization and dissemination of message of Islam. IIUI President, while discussing the agenda items said that academic excellence is the top most priority of the university.

Dr. Aqdas Naveed Malik and Vice President Academics, Dr. Muhammad Tahir Khalily thanked the President of the university for attending the meeting and appreciated his efforts for the development of university.

The council made various decisions and issued recommendations and ended with a note that academic excellence would be pursued as top priority of the university.
