IIU PRESIDENT LAUDS TALENT OF STUDENTS IN CALLIGRAPHY EXHIBITION AT FEMALE CAMPUS

Around 140 pieces of calligraphy were exhibited in the closing ceremony of the Arabic Calligraphy Course that was graced by International Islamic University, President (IIU) Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi at female campus.

The President IIUI, lauded the, Kufic and Ruq’a Calligraphy course that was taught by Dr. Moaid Fadhil, Associate Professor of Faculty of Arabic who is one of the the senior most foreign faculty member serving in IIUI.

IIU President Prof. Dr. Hathal Homoud Alotaibi said he is proud of the talent of the IIU students. He also discussed the contextual relation of the calligraphy and Sirah. He apprised that in a recent conference on Sirah , the IIUI has also arranged an exhibition of rare manuscripts and calligraphy. He hoped that such activities shall continue with a greater frequency in the campuses. Cash prizes and course completion certificates were also awarded to the Winners and course participants by IIU President. In this event Shields were awarded to calligraphist Dr. Moaid Fadhil and calligraphy course organizer Dr. Robina Naz on their efforts.

The ceremony was attended by incharge female campus Dr. Sumayya Chughtai, students adviser Dr. Sadia Saleem,  Dean faculty of languages NUML Dr. Asghar Ali Jami, Dr. Tahir Mahmood, head department of Arabic Language from National University of Modern Languages (NUML), senior faculty members of IIU and a large number of female students in the auditorium of the female campus.

Earlier, The Dean of Arabic Faculty, Dr. Fazlullah welcomed all the guests. In his address, he briefed about the importance of course and highlighted the historic background of calligraphy among participants of the closing ceremony.

In-charge Faculty of Arabic Dr. Samia Nazish in her speech thanked participants for gracing the occasion with their solemn presence. She also thanked Dr. Moaid Fadhil and Dr. Robina Naz for organizing the such valuable course.On this occasion, she congratulated the winners and course participants for completing the course successfully.

Dean, faculty of languages NUML Dr. Asghar Ali Jami also appreciated efforts of faculty for this calligraphy course saying “ Calligraphy is the most highly regarded and most fundamental element of Islamic art”.

Dr. Abdul Mujeeb, Head of Literature Department, Arabic Faculty also spoke on the importance of calligraphy, the art of beautiful handwriting, and appreciated this effort.

Addressing the participants of the ceremony, Dr. Moaid Fadhil gave a brief introduction regarding Arabic Calligraphy and its types. He commended the winners and participants for their dedication and hard work throughout the course. At the end of event, students shared their remarkable views about this wonderful course.
