IIU PRESIDENT CHAIRS MEETING OF DIRECTORATE OF DISTANCE EDUCATION’S CORE COMMITTEE

H.E. Dr. Hathal Homoud Al-Otaibi, President, International Islamic University (IIU) on Friday chaired a meeting of the Core Committee of Directorate of Distance Education held at Faisal Masjid Campus.

The meeting was also attended by Prof. Dr. N.B. Jumani, Vice President (Administration, Finance and Planning), Incharge IT Saleem Shehzad, Dr. Fouzia Ajmal, Dr. Abdul Fareed Brohi (Dawah Academy), Muhamamd Sohail (Shariah Academy) and Mr Talha.

The committee deliberated various agenda items pertaining to online mode of education. IIU President was briefed that the Directorate of Distance Learning is all set to commence its pilot testing stage with 5 faculties in start and recordings for the lectures will start in start of the next week.

IIU Vice President, Dr. N.B.Jumani apprised about the details of modules preparation, home work for the exclusive studio, arrangement of the recordings, content preparations and trainings. The IIU President was apprised of the efforts and steps taken for the SEO and digital marketing, ODL web portal customization including payment integration and other facilities.

Worthy President appreciated the efforts and preparation of the committee and assured of every support. He directed for speedy execution of final stage steps and hoped that the university will introduce the online education from the start of next semester.

Dr. Hathal said that university is committed to working hard for delivering quality education and producing knowledge in line with the aspiration of Muslim world. He said that online education is the need of hour. Referring to the global pandemic, IIUI President said that importance of online education has become more salient. He said universities must focus on the use of modern techniques of teaching and learning through distance education. IIU President maintained that universities must develop detailed policies and they should also adopt innovative solutions. He also emphasized that faculty must remain updated to the advancements of the technology. He assured that new and innovative ideas and suggestion for improvements in this regard will be appreciated.
