FACULTY OF SOCIAL SCIENCES ENGAGES COMMUNITY WELL-BEING 

In connection with out-reach community linkages programs designed by Faculty of Social Sciences. International Islamic IMG_2183University, Islamabad, a team of faculty members from different departments visited Al-Firdous School in Barakahu a countryside of Islamabad.

The aim of this program is to engage the faculty members in community linkages and development program and to maintain strong sense of community outreach; university extended its expert teaching services to the students and staff of Al-Firdous School. In the school, students are not charged any kind of tuition fee as the school is run on family-based donations received from the family members and some financial assistance from NEF- Federal Ministry of Education Islamabad.

IMG-20161115-WA0003The school project is being supervised by a philanthropist Miss Jannat-ul-Firdous who warmly welcomed the visiting team from IIUI and extended her gratitude. She also requested IIUI team to arrange training session for Al-Firdous School’s teachers. The IIUI team consisted of faculty members including Dr. Azhar Mahmood (Department of Education), Dr. Hazir Ullah & Mr. Aklaq Ahmad (Department of Sociology) and Mr. Mazhar Iqbal Bhatti from the Department of Psychology spent a whole day with the students and staff of the school.

The team members engaged them in different learning activities and made them aware about new trends in teaching and education. They also involved students and teachers and made them aware to improve their learning efficiencies with new techniques. Faculty of Social Sciences IIUI by developing linkages with community and advances the frontiers of knowledge extends quality education to those who do not have the opportunity to get it. In this regards, Dr. Nabi Bux Jumani, Dean FSS initiated this programs and motivates the faculty members to be actively involved in community wellbeing.
