FACULTY OF SHARIAH & LAW, IIUI HOLDS GRAND FINALE OF ANNUAL INTRA-FACULTY MOOT COURT COMPETITION

The Annual Intra-Faculty Moot Court Competition (IFMCC-23) organized by Faculty of Shariah and Law of International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) held at Allama Iqbal Auditorium, Faisal Masjid Campus of the university.

The event was a display of legal expertise and advocacy skills by the participating teams in which 125 teams from various law batches applied for the competition, out of which only 70 teams were selected to compete. Following a series of intense legal conflicts, the teams of Pakasia Constructionist and Progressive Counselors emerged as the top contenders, qualifying for the highly anticipated finale.

 

The event attracted hundreds of law students and distinguished guests, including the chief guest, Mr. Justice Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, a respected Judge from the Islamabad High Court. Other notable guests included Mr. Ahmer Bilal Soofi, the former Minister of Law, Parliamentary Affairs, and Human Rights, and Malik Iqbal Kallue, the Assistant Attorney General for Pakistan. The Dean of the Faculty of Shariah & Law, Dr. Attaullah Faizi, the Chairman of the Law Department, Dr. Muhammad Asim Iqbal, and the Moot Court Society’s pattern-in-chief, Hafiz Muhammad Usman Nawaz, were also present.

The panel of judges for the grand finale comprised of Mr. Tariq Mehmood Jahangiri, Ahmar Bilal Soofi, and Malik Iqbal Kallue. Following an enthralling and nerve-wracking battle between the finalists, the panel declared Pakasia Constructionist as the deserving winners of the prestigious IFMCC-23 title.

In the closing ceremony, Mr. Tariq Mahmood Jahangiri addressing the participants of the ceremony emphasized the importance of the legal profession in society. He shared insightful thoughts on the art of advocacy and provided valuable advice on becoming successful lawyers to the aspiring students.

Ahmar Bilal Soofi, in his address, shed light on the significance and beauty of combining Shariah and Law subjects—an exceptional feature of IIUI’s law degree. He also shared his thoughts on the importance and relevance of Islamic law.

Dr. Attaullah Faizi, the Dean of the Faculty of Shariah & Law, expressed his gratitude to the honorable guests on behalf of the President of International Islamic University, Dr. Hathal Hamoud Alotaibi. He also extended his congratulations to the Moot Court Society (FSL) for organizing a successful and remarkable event.

The closing ceremony concluded with the distribution of trophies, appreciation certificates, and souvenirs among the winning team, Pakasia Constructionist, as well as the distinguished participants and adjudicators of the initial rounds of the event.

Prof. Dr. Atta Allah Faizi, the Dean of the Faculty of Shariah & Law, conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to the esteemed President of the University for his Unwavering Support and guidance. He acknowledged and highlighted the pivotal role played by the President in the faculty’s development and success.

The Annual Intra-Faculty Moot Court Competition served as a platform for law students to showcase their legal acumen and advocacy skills, fostering a spirit of healthy competition and intellectual growth within the legal community.
