DR. SULIMAN ABDULLAH ABA AL-KHAIL URGES MUSLIM UNITY, POSITIVE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA

Prof. Dr. Suliman Abdullah Aba Al-Khail, Pro Chancellor of International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has called upon Muslim societies to forge unity among ranks to nullify the lethal agenda of foes who are disseminating hatred against Islam.

He was addressing here at Islamabad in a dinner reception hosted by Senator Talha Mehmood in his honour. It was also attended by Ambassadors of Muslim countries, renowned political figures, Islamic scholars, IIUI, Rector Dr Masoom Yasinzai, President IIUI, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh, Vice Presidents of the university and other high-ups.

“Social media has become a problem as youth is being de-tracked by this technology tool and it is an urgent need of hour to utilize it in positive manners to diminish misconception disseminated against Islam”, he said.

He furthered that Islam is religion of peace and tolerance, it has discouraged terrorism, violence and it calls for protection of human rights and love for humanity. He continued that dissociation from Islamic teachings has led to sectarianism which must be ignored as Muslims must be united like a body.

He emphasized upon the role of universities in Muslim societies, while saying that it is time for action and universities are the most important places which can play pivotal role in Muslim unity. He called upon Muslim scholars to come forward and portray true image of Islam.

The IIUI Pro Chancellor said that Arabic language is an essential way to comprehend message of Islam and Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud Islamic University, Riyadh is keen to work with universities of Islamic world for promotion of Arabic language. He told that same would be done in terms of cooperation between Imam university and IIUI.

Talking about the Pak-Saudi relations, he said that bilateral cooperation between Imam Muhammad university and IIUI would further deepen the exemplary ties between both countries. He maintained that Saudis have immense love for Pakistani nation and Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques has desired linkages of educational institutions of both countries and expand cooperation for academic excellence, research and specially in the field of science and technology. Dr. Suliman said that Imam Muhammad university will be sharing its experiences through faculty and research with IIUI soon as both varsities are going to have an MoU on Distance Learning. He mentioned projects at IIUI which will be supervised and cooperated by Imam Muhammad university.

Early, Senator Talha Mehmood thanked H.E King of Royal Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for commendable Hajj arrangements and said that KSA made laudable arrangements for Pakistani pilgrimages. He said that Pakistani and Saudi universities should establish a roadmap to work for the promotion of Arabic language which he termed as milestone to revive the Muslim legacy.
