DEPARTMENT OF ENGLISH TO HOLD SYMPOSIUM ON RELEVANCE OF SHAKESPEARE IN CONTEMPORARY WORLD

FB_IMG_1482314697729Department of English of International Islamic University Islamabad, in connection to mark Shakespeare’s 400th anniversary is hosting a Symposium, ‘Relevance of Shakespeare in Contemporary World’.

The Symposium will be held on December 30 at 9:30 am at Allama Iqbal Auditorium, Faisal Mosque Campus. It will be attended by renowned researchers and veteran literature experts. The presenters include Dr.Shaista Sonu, Former Chairperson, University of the Punjab – Her topic of presentation is “Teaching Shakespeare in Pakistani Context”, Dr.Abid Masood from International Islamic University Islamabad– “Representation of Muslims in Shakespeare”, Dr. Saeed ur Rehman from F.C. College, Lahore – “Post-Colonial Significance of Caliban in the ‘Tempest’, Dr. Jaleel Akhtar from COMSATS, Lahore – “Specters of Hamlet” and Mr. Mahmood ul Hassan from International Islamic University Islamabad – “Shakespeare and Canonicity in Post-colonial South-Asian Context”.A panel discussion will follow. The discussants include; Prof.Dr.Ayaz Afsar (Chairman, Dept. of English, IIUI), Dr. Saeed ur Rehman and Dr. Jaleel Akhtar.
