The department of Islamic Art & Architecture of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) organized a three-week long Calligraphy Workshop for students titled “Arabic Calligraphy and Page Illumination.
The workshop was part of compulsory course of the students, while it was supervised by Mr. Rasheed Butt, a world renowned calligrapher of Pakistan who Besides many achievements, was recognized by the President of Pakistan and coffered “Pride of Performance” award in 1989. He has worked to promote the art of Islamic Calligraphy and has a large number of students across the world. Students of the department keenly participated in the activity. The coordinator of the workshop told that students were practicing Kufic script and would display art pieces at the end of semester.
Meanwhile, the department brought fame to the university as Sara Ahmad, a student of BS 5th semester at department of Islamic Art & Architecture won 1st prize in the all Pakistan Photography Competition.
