ACCREDITATION VISIT FOR B.ED ELEMENTARY EDUCATION PROGRAM, DEPARTMENT OF TEACHER EDUCATION

The external evaluators’ team of National Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (NACTE) comprising of Prof. Dr. Riffat un Nisa, Director Institute of Education and Research and Dr. Abida Nasreen, Chairperson, Department of Secondary Education, Institute of Education and Research University of the Punjab Lahore visited the Department of Teacher Education for the re-accreditation of B.Ed Elementary Education program.

In the orientation meeting Dr. Zarina Akhtar welcomed the team and briefed about the plan of the accreditation visit. Dr. Fouzia Ajmal gave a presentation about IIUI, Department of Teacher Education and B.Ed Elementary Education program. Dr. Shamsa Aziz thanked the participants and briefed the members about some activities of Department. Ms. Rubab Fatima Dy. Director (Acad & Exams) and Mr Asghar Ali A.D QAD were also present in orientation meeting.

Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, the Dean of the Faculty of Education, welcomed the evaluators’ team and provided insights various academic programs offered by the faculty.

The Secretary of NACTE, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Khalid Mahmood, briefed the faculty members on the accreditation criteria and evaluation tools used by NACTE. The application of 10 different tools and observation of 152 indicators emphasize the thoroughness of the accreditation process.

The Faculty of Education is evidently dedicated to uplifting academic standards, as highlighted by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Dean Faculty of Education. The efforts of Department of Education especially the team working on different tasks in preparing NACTE documents including Dr. Zarina Akhtar, Dr Alina Raza, Dr Fouzia Ajmal, Dr Humaira Akram, Ms Raffiqa Nazli and Ms Sehrish Niazi were acknowledged and appreciated.

It’s commendable that during the evaluation process, the NACTE team visited various aspects, including interviews with Chairperson, teacher educators, prospective teachers, alumni, and supporting staff. The class observation and document analysis were remarkable activities of the accreditation.   The detailed evaluation of infrastructure including classrooms, offices, computer lab, gymnasium, medical center, students’ facilitation center and cafeteria indicates a comprehensive approach by NACTE to ensure that IIUI provides a high-quality learning environment supporting a positive and effective educational experience to prospective teachers. This comprehensive approach ensures a holistic assessment of the quality of teacher education programs.
