IRI, IIUI Organizes Lecture on “Sīrah of the Holy Prophet and Human Emotions”

The Islamic Research Institute (IRI) at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized a scholarly lecture on “Sīrah of the Holy Prophet and Human Emotions” at the Faisal Mosque Campus. The session was attended by researchers and students, providing an academic platform to explore the emotional dimensions of the Prophet’s life. The session was moderated by Mr. Mubashir Hussain, Research Assistant at IRI, and opened by Dr. Syed Mateen Ahmed Shah, Editor, IRI.

The keynote lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Saadullah, former Editor of the Encyclopaedia of Islam, Punjab University, Lahore. He highlighted the profound emotional aspects reflected in the Sīrah of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), emphasizing the timeless relevance of compassion, empathy, patience, and emotional wisdom in guiding human behavior and fostering healthy societies.

The session was chaired by Professor Dr. Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, Director-General of IRI and Dean of the Faculty of Shariah and Law, IIUI, who praised the lecture for presenting fresh academic perspectives on the humanistic teachings of the Sīrah. He underscored the significance of promoting these themes through rigorous scholarly engagement.

Serving as Chief Guest, Professor Dr. Muhammad Sajjad, Chairman of the Department of Islamic Thought at Allama Iqbal Open University, Islamabad, highlighted the importance of studying human emotions through the Prophetic model and encouraged students to adopt interdisciplinary approaches in Sīrah research.

The session concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Sahibzada Muhammad Qamar-ul-Haq, President, Jamia Muhammadi Sharif, Chiniot. He appreciated IRI and IIUI for their ongoing dedication to advancing Sīrah scholarship and academic research.
