A high-level delegation from leading Malaysian and Indonesian universities visited the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) and discussed prospects of enhanced academic cooperation, joint initiatives, and international programs to be launched in Pakistan in the coming year.
The delegation called on President IIUI Prof Dr Ahmed Saad Alahmed in the council hall.
The delegation included Prof. Muhammad Miftahussurur dr., M.Kes., Sp.PD-KGEH., Ph.D (Vice Rector for Research, Innovation & Community Development and Chairperson of WUACD), Prof. Ferry Efendi, S.Kep.Ns., M.Sc., Ph.D (Head of Journal Development, Publication & Intellectual Property Rights), Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih, M.Si. (Executive Secretary, WUACD), and Dr. Muhammad Saud, BS., MS., Assistant Professor, Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, Universitas Airlangga. From Malaysia, Prof. Ir. Dr. Ahmad Sabirin Zoolfakar, Director, Business Innovation & Technology Commercialization (BITCOM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM), represented his institution.
During the meeting, representatives from Universitas Airlangga apprised the IIUI leadership of the university’s existing collaborations and conveyed that an international program is scheduled to be launched in Pakistan next year. They noted that effective implementation would require close in-house collaboration with IIUI. Members from UiTM presented an overview of their university, highlighting its 34 campuses, centers of excellence, and diverse academic strengths.
President IIUI, Prof. Dr. Ahmed Saad Alahmed, briefed the delegation about the university’s ongoing partnerships and stated that IIUI and Universitas Airlangga hold strong potential for collaboration in psychology, sociology, engineering, SDGs, and student and faculty exchange programs.
The meeting at council hall was attended by Vice President Research & Enterprise Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, Dean Faculty of Languages and Literature Prof. Dr. Fauzia Janjua (also overseeing Female Campus affairs), Vice President Administration & Finance Syed Hassan Aftab, Dean Faculty of Sciences Dr. Mushtaq Ahmad, and other relevant officials.
Earlier, the delegation was received by Prof. Dr. Fauzia Janjua at the Female Campus, who introduced them to various academic and research facilities at the female campus. The delegation also discussed cooperation with the CIRBS.
The visit concluded with both sides expressing commitment to strengthening academic linkages, developing joint programs, and expanding research collaboration in priority areas.
