IIUI Hosts Panel Discussion on Climate Resilience

An engaging panel discussion on climate resilience was held at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), bringing together students from bachelor’s, master’s and PhD programs of Environmental Science and other disciplines. The session provided a platform for dialogue on community-based adaptation, defining resilience in Pakistan’s context, and addressing technical and data gaps hindering evidence-based climate policy.

Students actively participated, sharing insights and raising questions on climate vulnerability and preparedness. The session was attended by Chairperson Department of Environmental Science Dr. Syeda Maria Ali, In-charge Academic Affairs Dr. Sarah Amir, and GYM Focal Person & Director Administration Dr. Inam-ul-Haq, whose presence added academic and institutional guidance to the discussion.

The interactive session emphasized the need for improved data infrastructure, enhanced technical capacity, and stronger community engagement to build climate resilience in the country. It concluded with a consensus that youth-driven dialogue and interdisciplinary collaboration are vital for shaping effective climate solutions in Pakistan.
