DEPARTMENT OF BIOLOGICAL SCIENCES HOLDS SEMINAR ON “WOMEN EMPOWERMENT” 

A Seminar entitled “My Health, My Decision, step ahead towards woman Empowerment” focuses on Woman Physical and Mental Health was organized by the Department of Biological Sciences. The main goal was to shed light on numerous areas of women’s health, including both physical and mental health.

Dr. Shaheen Shahzad, Incharge Department of Biological Sciences (DBS), welcome the guest speakers and highlighted the main theme of the seminar, discussed the value of self-love, care, and the role of women’s health in society.

Dr. Aneela Javaid, distinguished speaker and Associate Professor at ASAB, NUST, provided an informative discussion on women’s physical health during the seminar. Dr. Javaid emphasized on the different complexities of women’s health, addressing topics such as the HIV virus infection, numerous reproductive diseases, its diagnosis and treatment and methods of prevention.

 

The other Guest speaker Dr. Sumara Masood, Associate Professor, NUST underlined the critical significance of mental health in women’s overall well-being. Dr. Masood advocated for open discussions about mental health, praising students who shared their stories and asked questions.

In an insightful session, Dr. Sumayya Chughtai, the In-charge Female campus, highlighted the importance of women’s health and expressed appreciation for Dr. Shaheen Shahzad’s efforts in organizing seminar on a very important topic and educate our younger female generation about these critical health issues and their preventions.

The seminar concluded with token of appreciation presented to both the Guests Speakers. Dr. Naima Younas, the focal person of student’s activity, DBS, extended a vote of thanks, acknowledging the valuable contributions of the speakers and participants and also appreciated ACACIA Society members for arranging this seminar on female health.
