A two-day entrepreneurial gala 2022 commenced here at the female campus of the university. The gala under the supervision of the Directorate of the students’ Affairs was inaugurated by Senator. Fawzia Arshad.
Ms. Fawzia Arshad visited the food and jewelry stalls along with Dr. Sumayya Chughtai, Student Advisor and Dr. Humaira Ashfaq, Provost female. Theme of this year’s IIUI female entrepreneurial gala is “women in Business”.
Hailing the active participation of female students, Senator Fawzia Arshad said women participation in society and especially their entrepreneurial contribution can help in maintaining a stable and prosperous society. She pointed out various micro and macro level aspects of women’s contribution in business and entrepreneurship.
Dr. Sumayya , apprised that the purpose of the gala is to attract female students to establish their businesses and contribute towards the socio-economic development of society. Dr. Humaira Ashfaq said linkage of academia and industry is a prerequisite for a prosperous society. She advised the female students to believe in themselves and devote their lives for the progress of the country.
Speakers of the event opined that women entrepreneurs were full of talent and promoting them was vital so that they could increase exports and play a more effective role in the economic development of the country. The organizers of the event stressed upon the need for training programmes for women entrepreneurs so that they could use online platforms to promote their business at local and international level.
The opening day of the event featured embroidered rugs, table runners, furniture, gems and jewelry, clothing for women and children, gardening items, pottery, paintings, footwear and women’s health and hygiene, publications and many other such items.
