IIU HAILS POETRY MAESTRO IFTIKHAR ARIF IN A SPECIAL SESSION

Department of Urdu (female Campus) organized a session in honour of renowned poet and intellectual Iftikhar Arif at Faisal Masjid campus of the international Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI).

The session was chaired by Dean Faculty of Languages and Literature, Dr. Ayaz Afsar. It was also attended by Chairperson Department of Urdu Dr. Najeeb Arif, Head of Department at male campus Dr. Aziz Ibn ul Hassan and other faculty members and students.

Speakers including Dr. Najeeba Arif, Dr. Aziz Ibn ul Hassan, Dr. Bibi Ameena and Dr. Sadia Tahir presented papers on the works of Ifikhar Arif.

Dr. Najeeba Arif spoke on Iftikhar Arif’s personality and works. She hailed his attitude of encouragement towards young creative minds. She termed his works as an amalgamation of classical and modern aspects of literature.

Dr. Aziz Ibn ul Hassan maintained that there is no confusion of modern experiments in poetry of Ifikhar Arif, while one would find a bond of harmony towards classical approach.

Dr. Sadia Tahir, in her paper on Iftikhar Arif focused on his courteous nature with a religious aspect. She said his works of Naat and Hamd are symbols of real expressions of human behaviors. She also discussed spiritual aspects of his personality.

Dr. Bibi Ameena presented her paper on dreams of Iftikhar Arif where she discussed metaphors in works of Iftikhar Arif and termed dreams as most important metaphor in the poetry of Iftikhar Arif.  She said that these dreams in Iftikhar’s potery are symbols of hope.

Dr. Ayaz Afsar, summarizing the discussions and appreciating the works of Iftikar Arif said that there as a unique equilibrium of arts and life in poetry of Iftikhar Arif.
