BIOTECHNOLOGY ENTREPRENEURSHIP SOLUTION TO UNEMPLOYMENT: RECTOR IIU

This was stated by Prof Dr Masoom Yasinzai, Rector, IIUI while speaking on the ocassion of a Leadership and Biotechnology Entrepreneurship workshop hosted by Applied Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering lab (ABGE), Department of Bioinformatics and Biotechnology.

ABGE lab has been established with the grant of Rs 10.00 million from HEC which is also striving for the development of plant tissue culture entrepreneurship.

Workshop was attended by Faculty and students of the Department. Dr Masoom Yasinzai advised students to conduct research for solution of the societal problems. He also emphasized the faculty to focus on applied nature of projects keeping in view the cost benefit ratio for commercially viable products. He furthered that students should be guided and encouraged to produce products for their industrial applications.

Dr Bushra Uzair, Assistant Professor at the department, demonstrated how to produce Penicillin in the workshop. There was also a question answer session among the students and the Rector regarding steps involved in penicillin production.
