Lecture on Psychology Autopsy
Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has said that “Suicide is forbidden in Islam, Human life is God’s Trust and nobody has right to betray this trust and commits suicide, Because life and death are in God’s hand.”. He was addressing to the participants of workshop on “Psychological Autopsy” organized by the Dept. of Psychology of the university.

He said that the treatment of every decease is prevailing in the Holy Quran therefore the Psychiatrist may focus on Quran & Sunnah for the treatments of psychological decease, because they will find proper guidance regarding psychological deceases in this divine source of knowledge. He added that the secret of treatment of psychological deceases is also hidden in the strengthening of Eeman because without the strengthening of Eeman psychological deceases cannot be cured. He said that in the world of despair Allah is the biggest source of support for the man therefore man should divert his attention towards Allah in such a situation and for this purpose he should recite Holly Quran regularly.

Earlier Dr. Murad Musa Khan, Head of Dept. of Psychology, Agha Khan Medical University, Karachi delivered a lecture on the topic and discussed in length the trends of suicide and its causing in Pakistan.

IIUI to hold concluding ceremony of 26th I.O.P For Female Teachers Today
Dawah Centre For Women of the International Islamic University, Islamabad is organizing concluding ceremony of 26th “Islamic Orientation Programme for Female Teacher“ on Saturday, December 29, 2012, at 01:00 pm, at the said centre. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President IIUI shall be the chief guest on the occasion while Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, Vice President (AF&P), IIUI shall preside over the ceremony.

Meeting of Examination Review Committee
A meeting of examination (Autumn 2013) review committee was held in the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) yesterday. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President IIUI presided over the meeting. Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman Vice President (AF&P), IIUI including Deans of various faculties and head of departments were also present on the occasion. Meeting reviewed the arrangements for examination. Deans of different faculties presented the detail regarding preparation of examination on which Dr. Al-Draiweesh expressed his satisfaction.

Speaking on the occasion Dr. Al-Draiweesh said that every possible facilities should be provided to the students so that they may take examination comfortably. He also directed the university teacher to actively participate in the exams because the welfare of the students is our basic goal. He said that in order to declare the results well in time teachers should not delay the submission of the result to examination branch.
While talking about his visits of Saudi Arabia last week, Dr. Al-Draiweesh said that an MoU was also signed between the Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud University, Saudi Arabia and International Islamic University, Islamabad. He said that the impact of which is everlasting and as a result of that MoU IIUI will become an important university of the world level.

While speaking on the occasion Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman thanked Dr. Sulaiman Aba Al-Khail, Rector of Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud University, Saudi Arabia and Dr. Al-Draiweesh for their exemplary hospitality which was extended to him and his delegation during their visit to Saudi Arabia last week. He also expressed his views about the MoU signed between Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud University, Saudi Arabia and IIUI and said that according to this MoU the exchange of teachers and students of both the universities will take place and trainees of Dawah & Shariah Academies will also get facility to visit Saudi Arabia for short span of time.

Workshop on “Modern Research Procedures & Awareness of HEC Recognized Journals”
A workshop for the faculty members and research students was organized by the Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) at the new campus of the university. Mr. Sulaiman Ahmed Deputy Director (Academics) and Mr. Hakim Ali Talpur Deputy Director (Quality Assurance) from Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad were Resource persons of workshop.

Faculty members & Research oriented staff of other universities like Fatima Jinnah Women University Rawalpindi, Riphah University, Islamabad, University of Peshawar, Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Women University Peshawar, IM Sciences Peshawar, University of Lahore etc also attended the workshop.

Mr. Hakim Ali Talpur, Deputy Director (Quality Assurance) explored HEC policy for Science & Engineering discipline where as Mr. Sulaiman Ahmed Deputy Director (Academics) explored HEC policy for Social Science , Arts & humanities discipline.

At the end Dr. Irshad Ahmad Arshad, Director QEC thanked all the participants, especially participants from other universities.

FAREWELL LUNCH BY DEPT. OF EDUCATION
Department of Education, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) organized a farewell Lunch for the final year students of Ms, Bs, M. Ed and B. Ed. Students presented the farewell poems for the senior students and also arranged lunch. Amna Iqbal Awan, Teaching Research Associate, Dept. of Education, IIUI Sumaira Batool, Teaching & Research Associate, Dept. of Education, IIUI, Fouzia Ajmal, Teaching & Research Associate, Dept. of Education, IIUI, Alina Raza, Teaching & Research Associate, Dept. of Education, IIUI and Saima Kanwal, Assistant Director, (Programme Coordinator), Dept. of Education, IIUI were also present on the occasion.
Outgoing students expressed their views and experiences about their programs, department and faculty members. Faculty members whished the bright future to the final year students

Saudi School Delegation Visits IIUI
The delegation of students of Saudi School along with their Teachers visited the International Islamic University, Islamabad on 26th December, 2012 at 10.00.a.m.. This 15 members delegation was received at Administrative Block by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, Dean, Faculty of Shariah & Law and other Officers of the University. The delegation was provided a detailed briefing about the Academic Programmes, Faculties and Departments of the University in the Council Hall. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zia-ul-Haq, Dean, Faculty of Shariah & Law and Dr. Muhammad Bashir, Acting Dean, Faculty of Arabic briefed the delegation about the Academic activities of International Islamic University. The delegation was briefed that International Islamic University has 9 Faculties, 2 Academies, 4 Institutes, 43 Departments and one Technology College. It was also informed to the delegation that International Islamic University offered all Programs in almost all disciplines of sciences and technology, Engineering, Social Sciences and other academic programmes. It was informed to the delegation that presently more than 25,000 students are studying in the University. Almost 17,000 students are from abroad.

It was also informed to the delegation that foreign students are provided residence facility in the University Hostels. After the briefing the students asked questions about the academic programmes, requirements for enrollments, numbers of employment and other relevant issues related registration in the academic programmes of the University. They also asked questions about the enrollments schedule of the University. After this briefing at Umar bin Khitab (Administrative) Block, the visit of the students was arranged to different Faculties and Libraries of the University, Laboratories of Engineering and Technology and Laboratories of Faculty of Basic & Applied Sciences and Central Library, where Dr. Sohail Abdullah, Dr. Mohammad Sher and Mr. Zulqarnain briefed them respectively. They also visited Social Sciences Faculty and Faculty of Shariah & Law. They shown keen interest in the in the Libraries and Laboratories of the University and many of them wished to enroll in this University for their future studies.

The Administration of the Saudi School, Islamabad was grateful to the International Islamic University, Islamabad for arranging this wonderful trip.

Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) is organizing a research oriented workshop on “Modern Research Procedures & Awareness of Recognized Journals” for Faculty members and research students today (Wednesday), December 26, 2012 at 10:30 am, at Conference Room, Central Library of the university. Mr. Sulaiman Ahmad, Deputy Director (Academics), HEC & Mr. Hakim Ali Talpr, Deputy Director, Quality Assurance, HEC shall be the resource persons of the workshop. Updated HEC policy regarding research publications, recognized journals and other procedures will be explored to participants of this workshop.

Islamic Research Institute (IRI) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) in collaboration with Dept. of Law, Faculty of Shariah & Law, IIUI is organizing a lecture on “Transformation of Shariah into State Law in British India” on Monday, December 24, 2012, at Allama Iqbal Auditorium, Faisal Masjid Campus of the university (11:00 am). Mr. M. Zubair Abbasi, a Ph. D Student of law at Oxford University shall deliver the lecture on the subject.

IIUI holds Book launching ceremony of Dr. Shahid Siddiqui
Critical Thinking Forum of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) organized book launching ceremony of book titled “ Education, Inequalities and Freedom: A Sociopolitical Critique by Dr. Shahid Siddiqui, an eminent educationist and Linguist in collaboration with Iqbal International Institute for Research & Dialogue (IRD) at Allama Iqbal Auditorium, Faisal Masjid Campus of the University. Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, Acting President IIUI presided over the ceremony while Dr. Noor Amna Malik, Learning Innovation Project Director, HEC was chief guest on the occasion. Dr. Samina Amin Qadir, Vice Chancellor, Fatima Jinnah Women University, Rawalpindi, Dr. Afshan Huma, University of Michigan, U.S.A, and Dr. Munazza Yaqoob, Incharge Dept. of English, IIUI expressed their views about the book on this occasion. Faculty members and a large number of male and female students attended the ceremony.

Dr. Samina Qadir while reviewing the book was on the view that the said book focused on the teachers training and answered several questions related to education and education system of our country. She hoped that this book shall add to the knowledge of readers and will help them not only to identify the problems of our education system but also to find out the ways to resolve those problems.

Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad said that Dr. Shahid Siddiqui has excellently illustrated our education system in this book and figured unmatchable analysis with profound strengths. He said that the purpose of education should be to empower the peoples to establish strong living society and I am happy to say that Dr. Siddiqui has effectively work on this phenomenon in the form of a book. Dr. Mumtaz was of the view that our country should have integrated education system to equalize the education opportunities for all the classes of the society.

Dr. Noor Amna Malik said that the book talks about issues and realities of our education system. She viewed that the book had excellently focused on teachers to deliver more effectively towards the quality education which is essential for development of any society.

M. Sajid Mirza complets Ph.D
Muhammad Sajid Mirza Senior Librarian, Dawah Academy International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) got Ph. D from University of the Punjab, Lahore. He completed his research titled “Utility of Information Technology in University Libraries of Pakistan” under the supervision of Dr. Khalid Mehmood Professor of Library and Information Science, University of the Punjab, Lahore. Thesis of Mr. Mirza was evaluated by Dr. Anna Maria Tammaro Professor at Department of Information Engineering, University of Panama, Italy; Dr. M. Fabrice Papy Professor of Information Science and Communication at Nancy University 2. France.
Hairan Khattak, Addl. Director (P&PR), IIUI congratulated M. Sajid Mirza on his success and prayed for his further success.

 

“Human Rights Day” observed In IIUI
The Lincoln Corner, Central Library of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) in collaboration with the U.S Embassy in Pakistan organized a programme on “Human Rights Day”. Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, Acting President IIUI chaired the session while Brian Bedell, Political Officer, U.S. Embassy and Information Resource Officer, Kayrn Anderson were the guest speakers on the occasion.

Mr. Brian Bedell highlighted the history of Human Rights in America and said that presently the respect of human rights is essential for the strengthening of democracy while Kayrn Anderson highlighted the importance and need of human rights in the present world.

While speaking on the occasion Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad said that there is a visible difference between the view points of American Government and American Peoples. He said while American Govt. is violating the human rights in the different areas of the world, the American peoples strongly oppose such actions of the American government. He said that the biggest protest against the American attack on Iraq was held in American city San Francisco. One Minute silence was observed in memory of those children who killed in America, Ghaza strip, Drone Attacks and in the incidence of Terrorism.

Earlier Dr. Munazza Yaqoob, Head Dept. of English (Female), IIUI and Khushboo Ali, Chairperson, Human Rights Forum of IIUI highlighted the activities of the said forum in the university in detail. Large number of male and female students attended the ceremony.

100 Members Delegation Visits IIUI
A hundred members’ delegation comprised students from Psychology, law and Geography departments of the Sara-e-Saleh Girls College, Haripur led by Dr. Shazia, head of Psychology Department visited International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) with other faculty members. The delegation was given combined orientation seminar regarding the introduction of relative departments of IIUI that was chaired by Dr Zaitoon Begum, Director IIUI, Dr Seema Gul, chair person of Dept. of psychology, IIUI and Prof. Dr Farkhanda Zia, chairperson of Shariah & Law, IIUI.

Dr Zaitoon welcomed the guests and extended her appreciation to the delegation for taking an initiative and making efforts to seek information for their learning and broadening the vision. She also assured full co-operation from the IIUI for future collaborative activities. Brief introduction from Psychology Department, Faculty of Social Sciences (FSS) and Faculty of Shariah and Law (FSL) was given by faculty members of concerned departments. Dr Uzma Masroor, Assistant Professor from Psychology Department, IIUI and Ms. Ambreen and warda yaseen, lecturers from Shariah & law department presented on the history, functioning and current trends and future goals of the departments.

International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) in collaboration with Higher Education Commission, Pakistan (HEC) is holding “ 15th All Pakistan Inter-University Debate Contest For Award of Allama Iqbal Shield at Regional Level” on Wednesday, December 19, 2012, at 09:00 am, at Quaid-e-Azam Auditorium, Faisal Masjid Campus, Islamabad. Prof. Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, Acting President IIUI shall be the chief guest while Mr. Farman Ullah Anjum, Director General (Academics) HEC shall be the guest of honour on the occasion.

DR. TAHIR KHALILI PRESENTS RESEARCH PAPER IN INTL. CONFERENCE
Dr Muhammad Tahir Khalily In-Charge Department of Psychology (Male) of the International Islamic University presented research paper on “Mental health problems in Pakistani society as a consequence of violence and trauma; a case for better integration of care” in the 3rd Annual Public Health Conference. The conference was organized by the Health Services Academy, Cabinet Division Government of Pakistan Islamabad in collaboration with International Organizations such as GIZ, USAID and Queen Margaret University Edinburgh.

 

IPD delegation visits Mangla and Rohtas
The participants of two batches of a training Course especially designed for the Executive Officers of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) visited Mangla Dam and Rohtas Fort as a part of their Course curriculum. The course was conducted by the Institute of the Professional Development. The visiting delegation was headed by Director of the Institute Dr. Saeed-ul Hassan Chishti, Master Trainers Kashif Suhail Malik, Ms Saneeha Khalid, IIUI Officers Welfare Association President Raja Muhammad Munir.

The delegation upon reaching Mangla was received by Wapda officials. Ghayyur Bhutta, Public Relations Officer of Mangla Dam Project briefed the delegation about the power House and water reservoir in length. He told the delegation that Mangla Dam was going at zero risk level in all respects of security. He added that Pakistan needs more dams to meet its electricity as well as irrigation needs in years to come. The delegation later visited historic Mangla and Rohtas Forts.

 

ICT Arranges Refresher Course on Hydraulics Pneumatics & Electro Pneumatics
Iqra College of Technology (ICT) of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) organized 5-day technical training programme for engineers related to oil & gas industry on “Hydraulics Pneumatics & Electro Pneumatics”. The concluding ceremony was held at the Seminar Room of The ICT yesterday where Political Advisor to Prime Minster Azad Jammu Kashmir, Muhammad Sadiq presided over the ceremony. Dr. Ghulam Yasin Chohan, Former Dean of Faculty of Engineering & Technology, IIUI was the chief guest on the occasion.

Dr. Javaid Ahmad Khan Tipu, Principal, ICT, Captain Mukhtar Ahmad Anjum of OGDCL, Naveed Ehtisham, Deputy Director ICT and participants of the course also attended the concluding ceremony. Muhammad Sadiq said that such type of technical training programmes should be arranged in other fields and urged that the technical syllabi should be upgraded according to the rapid technological developments. Dr. Ghulam Yasin Chohan appreciated the training programme and said that this training will be helpful to establish a relationship between the students and the engineers of oil and gas industry. Dr. Chohan hoped that this training will play a significant role to perform the professional duties.

Principal ICT, Javaid Ahmad Khan Tipu was on the view that the development of any country is impossible without technical education. He said that this training programme will be helpful to provide a platform for the students to share their knowledge and research with the professional. At the end chief guest awarded certificates to the participants.

Islamic Orientation Programme for Teachers concludes Islam spread in world due to morality, lifestyle of Muslims; Dr. Mumtaz Ahmed
The concluding ceremony of 56th ‘Islamic Orientation Programme For Teachers’ and 78th ‘Aima Khutaba Course’ was organized by Dawah Academy, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI). Acting IIUI President Dr Mumtaz Ahmad presided over the ceremony while renowned scholar Dr Inam ur Rehman was chief guest on the occasion. Dr Imtiaz Zafar of the Dawah Academy was also present.

Dr Mumtaz Ahmad said that “Islam spread in the world due to the morality and lifestyle of Muslims and not through political struggle and military conquests therefore, we should attract non-Muslims towards Islam through our attitude and life issues”.
He said that aims to establish Dawah Academy was to improve the daily life of Muslims, adding that the academy is “admirably conducting training programmes for intellectual and religious reform of individuals from different walks of life and this will remain continue in the future”. Dr Mumtaz said that for the teachers of Balochistan, these training programmes would be organized in their province.

Dr Imtiaz Zafar congratulated the participants on successful completion of training courses. He said that thousands of people have had benefited from these training courses of Dawah Academy and are preaching Islam.

Muhammad Khalid, a teacher from Balochistan, said that the ‘Islamic Orientation Programme for Teachers’ is playing “tremendous role to promote Islamic thoughts and wisdom in teachers”. Earlier, Farid Barohi, course coordinator, briefed participants about the content of courses and details of training programmes. Later, Dr Mumtaz Ahmad distributed certificates among the participants.

High Level Delegation Lefts for Saudi Arabia Yesterday
A fifteen members high level delegation of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) led by Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, Vice President (AF&P), IIUI departed for Saudi Arabia yesterday. The delegation will participate in an international conference at Al-imam Muhammad Ibn Saud University, Saudi Arabia. In order to promote cooperation between Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud University, Saudi Arabia and International Islamic University, Islamabad a memorandum of understanding (MoU) will also be signed on the occasion.

It is worth mentioning that Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President IIUI is also the Vice Rector of Al-Imam Muhammad Ibn Saud University. Dr. Muhammad Sher, Dean Faculty of Basic & Applied Sciences, IIUI, Dr. Muhammad Bashir Khan, Dean Faculty of Management Sciences, IIUI, Dr. Habib ur Rehman Asim, Deputy Dean, Faculty of Arabic, Dr. Muhammad Irshad Arshad, Director Quality Enhancement Cell (QEC), IIUI, DR. FACULTY MEMBER PRESENTS RESEARCH PAPERS IN INTL. CONFERENCE
Safi Ullah Khan Marwat, Lecturer / Ph. D Scholar, Department of History & Pakistan Studies, Faculty of Social Sciences, International Islamic University, Islamabad has presented a research paper titled as “Contribution of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in Freedom Movement: Case Study of Abdul Wali Khan” in an International Conference held on 28th-30th November, 2012, organized by Pakistan Study Centre, Peshawar in collaboration with National Institute of Historical and Cultural Research, Islamabad. His paper covered Abdul Wali Khan’s contribution to the Freedom Moment against British Raj in India during the period of 1922-1947.

Intl. Conference on “Fatwa as a Non State Legal System” Concludes
Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Rector International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has said that “The development of Muslim Societies, their social and political stability is not possible without making these societies law abiding societies”. He was addressing to the concluding ceremony of two day international conference on “Fatwa as a Non State Legal System” organized by the Faculty of Shariah & Law of the Islamic university in collaboration with Al-Wastia Forum, Jordan. Dr. Abdul Aziz Ibrahim Al-Ghadeer, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Pakistan presided over the concluding ceremony while Ambassadors of Jordan and Iraq in Pakistan Nawaf Khalifeh Saraireh and Dr. Rushdi Mahmood Al-Ani, Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President IIUI, Prof. Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, Vice President (AF&P), IIUI, Dr. Zia-ul-Haq, Dean Faculty of Shariah & Law, IIUI including delegates of the different countries, Faculty members and a large number of male and female students were present on the occasion.

Dr. Masoon Yasinzai said that in traditional Islamic Law, the Fatwa has played very important role to regulate the individual and the collective conduct of the Muslims. In-spite of the fact that majority of Islamic State, they have adopted common Law or French Law as their Legal Systems, the Fatwa is still operating in Muslim Societies as non-State Legal system for settling various disputes. He said that In Pakistan, not only common people but even government and judiciary are quite accommodative for Fatwa system and looking towards the Muftis for guidance in social, political and economic issues.

Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh has said that this conference will play tremendous role in solution of those religious, political and economic problems which the Muslim Ummah is facing today. He said that more such conferences will be also organized in the Islamic University in the near future. He added that due to issuance of Fatwas of some unauthorized persons the Muslim Ummah is facing the problems of terrorism and sectarian. While highlighting the importance of Fatwa in the Muslim societies Dr. Al-Draiweesh has said that Fatwa and its related subjects should be included in the syllabus of the universities and the Faculty of Sariah & Law of IIUI should come forward for academic work in this regard. He congratulate the Faculty of Shariah & Law and its dean Dr. Zia ul Haq on organizing such a useful and meaning international conference.

Earlier Dr. Khalid Masood, Director General, Islamic Research Institute presented the recommendations of the conference.

In this International conference almost sixty scholars from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, United Arab Emirates and India presented their research papers on the subject. At the end Dr. Abdul Aziz Ibrahim Al-Ghadeer awarded certificates and souvenirs among the participants of the conference.

IIUI: SEMINAR ON “EMERGING TRENDS IN CAREERS”
Students Adviser office of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) in collaboration with the Student’s Class Representative (CRs) Council of the university organized a seminar on “Emerging Trends in Careers” at Ibn-e-Khaldoon Block of the university yesterday. Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman, Former Chairman of Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad was the guest speaker on the occasion while Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad, Vice President (Academics) IIUI was also present. A large number of students from the faculties of Engineering and Technology, Basic and Applied Sciences and other faculties of IIUI attended the seminar.

In his keynote address, Dr. Atta-ur-Rahman talked at length about the wonders of science. The talk was so fascinating that all present were hooked by the information in the visual presentation. It opened up many new vistas to the students of science, technology, and engineering. He explained the nature of many new inventions and discoveries of science and their practical applications in real life situations.

Dr. Mumtaz Ahmad also addressed the seminar and congratulated the organizers on holding an important seminar on a topic of contemporary relevance. Before this Dr. Safeer Awan, Students Adviser (male), IIUI welcomed the honourable speakers.

Nawaf Khalifeh Saraireh, Ambassador of Jordan in Pakistan, Dr. Abu Hazzaa Al-Ghamidi, Cultural Attaché of Saudi Arabia in Pakistan, Dr. Sahibzada Sajid ur Rehman, Vice President, IIUI, Dr. Khalid Masood, Director General, IRI, Dr. Tahir Mansoori, Director General Shariah Academy, Dr. Zia ul Haq, Dean Faculty of Shariah & Law including faculty members and large number of students attended the inaugural ceremony.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh said that unfortunately there are some scholars in the Islamic society who issues such Fatwas repugnant to Quran & Sunnah which promote extremism, intolerance in the society and defame Islam and Islamic Ideology. He added that on the basis of Fatwas issued by some Ulema the Muslim societies are facing the phenomenon of terrorism due to which the Muslim societies are indulge in severe problems all over the world. He further added that it is the prime responsibility of the Muslim Ulema to project the true picture of Islam according to Quran & Sunnah.

Dr. Al-Draiweesh said that if we study the history of Islam it will be find that the scholars observed great care and analyze every aspect of the matter before issuing Fatwa. Dr. Al-Draiweesh lauded that only Government appointed Muftees should issue Fatwas, in the Islamic society to avoid intolerance. He also presented research paper in the conference.

The inaugural ceremony was also addressed by Dr. Izzuddin Binzaghiba, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ahmad Hassan Al-Qudh, Dr. Khalid Masood, Dr. Tahir Mansoori and Dr. Zia ul Haq. On the first day of the conference numerous national and international scholars presented their research papers including Dr. Izzuddin Binzaghiba from United Arab Emirates, Dr. Yahya Al-Umari from Saudi Arabia, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Ahmad Hassan Al-Qudh, Dr. Muhammad Ahmad Masallam Al-Khalailah, Dr. Zaid Al-Muhaisen from Jordan, Dr. Mohammad Tahir Hakeem, Dr. Sanaullah Al-Azhari, Prof. Dr. Al Daif Natoor, Dr. Nawaz ul Hassani , Dr.Muhammad Ali Ghauri, Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Anwar, Dr. Ahmad Yousaf Jamal Al-Zamzami, Dr. Akram Badawi and Dr. Abdulah Rizk Al-Muzini of IIUI presented their research papers in the conference.

The concluding ceremony of the conference will be held today on December 04-2012, at 03:30 p.m., at Quaid-e-Auditorium, Faisal Masjid Campus of the university. Dr. Abdul Aziz Ibrahim Al-Ghadeer, Ambassador of Saudi Arabia in Pakistan shall preside over the ceremony while Senator Moula Baksh Chandio, Federal Minister for Political Affairs shall be the chief guest on the occasion.

A seminar on “Current Trends in Christian Theology”
The Iqbal International Institute for Research & Dialogue (IRD) is holding a seminar in collaboration with the Faculty of Islamic Studies, IIU on “Current Trends in Christian Theology”. C. Eduardo Vargas is the Director of Advocacy and Public Policy and Representative to the United Nations for Intersections International. He has expertise in global affairs, particularly around issues of conflict and the Iraqi refugee crises. Vargas is responsible for the development and coordination of advocacy and policy initiatives for Intersections, including UN-NGO initiatives and participating in global forums on cross-cultural dialogue

The inaugural ceremony of the conference will be held today on December 03-2012, at 10:00 a.m., at Quaid-e-Auditorium, Faisal Masjid Campus of the university. Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai, Rector IIU shall preside over the ceremony while Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President IIU shall be the chief guest on the occasion. Dr. Zia ul Haq, Dean Faculty of Shariah & Law is the convener of the conference.

A joint meeting of the organizing committees regarding arrangements of the above said conference took place at the university yesterday. Prof. Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President IIUI chaired the meeting. The meeting reviewed the arrangements of the said conference where Dr. Al-Draiweesh urged the organizers to work hard for the success of the conference.

Participants of “Islamic Orientation Course For Young Writers” organized by the Dawah Academy of the International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) visited the university where they visited the various departments of the university and showed keen interest in the educational system of the university. Later on Mrs. Shagufta Haroon, Director Academics of the university briefed them about the progress and future plans of the university.

CRS of IIUI called on Dr. Al-Draiweesh
Dr. Ahmad Yousif Al-Draiweesh, President, International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) has said that students of the university should demonstrate high performance in educational as well as sport activities so that they may compete with the students of universities abroad. He was addressing to the Members of Class Representatives Council of the university. He said that the university will provide each and every possible facility to the students and they should focus on educational as well as physical fitness activities such as sports. Dr. Al-Draiweesh said that those who showed excellent performance in educational as well as sport will be provided opportunity of competition abroad.
