WOMEN ENTERPRISE, A CRUCIAL CONTRIBUTOR TO ECONOMIC GROWTH, RECTOR IIUI

Women enterprise summit 2017 Islamabad has been recognized as an increasing number of a crucial contributor to economic growth, in particular for growing nations and the universities should identify local as well as global skills necessary for entrepreneurship as a pool of huge manpower to serve the community.

It was said by Prof. Dr. Mohammad Masoom Yasinzai, Rector of the university while addressing to a “Women Enterprise Summit 2017” organized by Start-up Development Institute (SDI) in collaboration with the university. The summit was also attended by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Munir, Vice President (AF&P), IIUI. Mr. Kamran Rizwi, Co-founder School of Leadership (SoL), Ms Anna Faisal, Director Roots Millennium, and Ms Ayesha Luqman, Co-Founder Monal Islamabad.

Dr. Masoom said that the universities have significant role in creating more student entrepreneurs especially women as they can easily work at home.  He furthered that IIU will soon start project regarding business incubators, to nurture ideas of students to become effective entrepreneurs. The Rector IIU lauded the role of state in this connection and said that the state must establish entrepreneurial system with initial investment to those have entrepreneurial ideas. Co

nnecting linkage between university graduates and society he vowed that university graduates should be pertinent to the needs of society demanding entrepreneurs because society cannot provide jobs to everyone.

Later on, a delegation from German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) headed by Dr. Katharina Flecknestein, head of section for scholarship programs Middle East/North Africa called on Rector IIU at his office. Rector IIUI briefed the delegation about the university programs, academia and achievements. At the end a university crest was presented by Rector IIU to Dr. Katharina Flecknestein.
