The Office of Research Innovation and Commercialization (ORIC) held a steering committee meeting on April 15, 2023, Chaired by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Syed, the Vice President of Research and Enterprise.
The meeting was attended by esteemed participants including Dr. Muhammad Usman, CEO of ZATNAV Pvt Ltd, Engr Khalid Ahmad, CTO of Taraz Tech, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Amir, Director ORIC, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Irfan, Dean FOS, Prof. Dr. Abdul Rahman, Dean FMS, Prof. Dr. Najeeba Arif, Dean FLL, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Sarwar, Dean FED, Prof. Dr. Nadeem Sheikh, Dean FET, Nouman Shahid, Deputy Director ORIC, and Shafiq Ahmad, Assistant Director ORIC.
During the meeting, the committee discussed and approved various important matters aimed at enhancing the activities related to research innovation and commercialization. The measures included the ORIC scorecard, which outlines the key performance indicators and targets for ORIC’s operations and achievements. The committee also approved the Research Fund Utilization Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), which will provide guidelines for the efficient and effective utilization of research funds. Additionally, the committee finalized the Research Overhead Mechanism, which outlines the allocation and utilization of research overhead funds.
The decisions made during the steering committee meeting are expected to further strengthen ORIC’s efforts in promoting research innovation and commercialization, and ensure that research activities are conducted in a transparent, accountable, and impactful manner. The meeting concluded with a commitment from all participants to work collaboratively towards achieving ORIC’s objectives and fostering a culture of research excellence at the institution.
