An urgent coordination meeting was convened at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) to deliberate upon the situation arising from the reported presence of a leopard within the campus vicinity and to review the future course of action in close coordination with the Islamabad Wildlife Management Board (IWMB).
The meeting was chaired by the Vice President (Administration & Finance), IIUI, and was attended by senior university officials along with representatives of IWMB. Participants included CSO IWMB Col. (R) Muhammad Ali Haider, Director Administration Dr. Inam-ul-Haq, In-Charge Public Relations & Protocol, Dr. Asma Mansoor, Additional Director Electrical Syed Asif Kamal, Provosts, and Student Advisors.
During the meeting, a comprehensive assessment of the situation was carried out in light of the technical recommendations and operational plan shared by IWMB officials. It was apprised that, as per IWMB guidance, white halogen lamps and tasers have been arranged and are being installed on a priority basis to strengthen surveillance and restrict any possible incursion of the wild animal within populated areas of the campus.
Chairing the meeting, the Vice President (A&F) stated that the University administration is treating the matter with utmost seriousness and responsibility. He reaffirmed that all necessary steps are being undertaken strictly in accordance with the action plan and professional recommendations of IWMB, ensuring timely implementation of advised measures.
The participants underscored that IIUI remains committed to the safety and well-being of its students, faculty, staff, and residents, while fully supporting the operational strategy devised by IWMB. The meeting expressed confidence that with continued coordination and expert-led interventions, the situation will be managed effectively. The University also conveyed its expectation for the initiation of subsequent operational phases by IWMB, in line with their mandate, for the safe capture and handling of the wild animal.
The meeting concluded with a resolve to maintain close liaison with IWMB and to keep all precautionary arrangements under continuous review until the situation is fully resolved.
