As part of the ongoing training program, two sessions were held today focusing on strategic planning and leadership roles in universities.
The first session, titled “Strategic Planning and Implementation in the University”, was conducted by Dr. Arshad Saleem Bhatti, academic and expert in strategic planning, and former Rector of Virtual University. Dr. Bhatti, recipient of Tamgha-i-Imtiaz and Sitara-i-Imtiaz, outlined the essential components of institutional planning. He discussed environmental scanning, defining mission and vision, setting strategic goals, developing action plans, and establishing monitoring mechanisms. Dr. Bhatti stressed the importance of collaboration, transparency, and adaptability in achieving effective strategic outcomes.

The second session, “Organs and Functions – A University Perspective for Leadership Roles”, was led by Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza (Pride of Performance, T.I.), Vice Chancellor of Fatima Jinnah Women University. She addressed leadership development in academia, the levels of leadership, and the evolving responsibilities of university leaders.
Dr. Mirza emphasized the role of Vice Chancellors, highlighting the need for academic and administrative competence, moral integrity, sound decision-making, and the ability to lead with vision and empathy.
The training program continues to engage participants in discussions aimed at strengthening institutional capacity and leadership in the higher education sector.
Later, Dr. Arshad Saleem Bhatti and Prof. Dr. Bushra Mirza called on Prof. Dr. Ahmed Shuja Sayed, President of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) in his office. During the meeting, they discussed avenues for bilateral cooperation in the field of education.
