A media literacy drive, aimed at educating youth on the responsible use of social media, was organized by students of BS Media and Communication Studies.
It was held under the supervision of Dr. Naila Rafique. The event took place in front of Ayesha Block and attracted significant participation from students and faculty alike.
The drive was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Student Advisor Dr. Rukhsana Tariq, who commended the initiative, highlighting its importance in fostering mindful social media habits among the younger generation.
A variety of interactive activities were conducted during the event, including sessions on identifying fake news, enhancing dialogue literacy with references from popular movies and dramas, appropriate emoji usage, and cultivating a rational approach to content sharing.
Teachers from various departments also visited the drive, expressing keen interest in the sessions and praising the students’ efforts to address such a pressing issue.
The drive showcased the potential of academic initiatives in equipping the youth with critical media skills, emphasizing the role of educational institutions in promoting media literacy in today’s digital age.
