Shariʻah Academy Launches Fiqh al-Sīrah Course in Collaboration with Jamia Muhammadi Sharif

A five-week course on “Fiqh al-Sīrah” began at the Shariʻah Academy of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), in collaboration with Jamia Muhammadi Sharif, Chiniot. The course focuses on exploring the legal, ethical, and practical aspects of the life of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and aims to highlight its contemporary relevance.

During the opening session, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Akram, Director General of the Academy, underlined the importance of studying the Sīrah not merely as historical narrative but as a continuous source of moral and legal guidance for Muslim societies.

Sahibzada Qamar ul Haq, President of Jamia Muhammadi Sharif, shared the vision behind the initiative and emphasized the need to reconnect present-day audiences with the applied wisdom of the Prophetic model.
Prof. Dr. Hafiz Muhammad Sajjad, Chairperson, Department of Islamic Thought, History, and Culture at Allama Iqbal Open University, delivered a keynote address focusing on the evolution of Fiqh al-Sīrah as an academic field. He also discussed new scholarly contributions and ongoing developments in the discipline.
The course is offered in a hybrid format, with sessions scheduled three days a week (Tuesday to Thursday), enabling both physical and online participation.
