SERIES OF CAREER COUNSELING SEMINARS HELD AT FEMALE CAMPUS

CAREER COUNSELING CENTER EMPOWERS STUDENTS THROUGH INSIGHTFUL SEMINARS

The Career Counseling Center at the Female Campus of the International Islamic University (IIUI) recently conducted a series of seminars aimed at enhancing students’ understanding of various career domains and equipping them with essential skills for the competitive job market. Collaborating with the student advisor office, these seminars covered diverse topics such as career exploration, job hunting, skill development, content writing, and stress management.

The objective of these seminars and workshops, organized in collaboration with the student advisor office was to provide career-specific guidance and personal development, fostering a holistic approach to students’ growth during their journey from academic career to future endeavors, empowering students, preparing them for success in their chosen career paths.

According to details, the first seminar, held at the Auditorium of Fatima Block, focused on helping students make informed career choices. Led by Ms. Maryam Khurshid and Ms. Sameena Iqbal from the Department of Psychology, the seminar provided practical insights into career assessments, aligning interests and skills with career paths, and setting effective career goals. Dr. Sadia Saleem Cheema, the Student Advisor of the Female Campus, emphasized the importance of selecting the right career in her address. Participants gained hands-on experience with on-spot aptitude assessments, fostering a clear understanding of factors guiding their career choices.

The second seminar, held at the seminar hall of the Faculty of Management Sciences, delved into career strategies, CV building, job-winning interviews, skill assessment, and effective job hunting. Dr. Arshia Mukhtar, a cross-cultural trainer and academician, shared valuable insights, engaging students in an interactive question-answer session. The seminar empowered students to craft effective resumes and cover letters, enhancing their competitiveness in the job market.

Addressing the growing demand for content creators, 3rd seminar titled “Mastering the Art of Content Writing and How to Win Jobs at Upwork”, held at the Auditorium of Fatima Block. This seminar was aimed to provide a comprehensive understanding of content writing basics, Search Engine Optimization (SEO), crafting engaging blogs, and winning jobs on freelancing platforms like Upwork. Dr. Mehwish Majeed, a seasoned freelancer with a 5-star ranking on Upwork, shared her expertise, guiding students on becoming professional content writers. The seminar not only enriched students’ knowledge but also opened doors to various online and offline content writing opportunities.

The series of career counseling seminars concluded by a one day workshop titled “Emotional Freedom Therapy for Managing Academics and Examinations Stress”. The workshop was held at the Auditorium of Fatima Block, focusing on managing academic and examinations stress through Emotional Freedom Therapy (EFT). Conducted by a group of young psychologists, including Ms. Tuba Ghaffar, Ms. Maryam Khan, Ms. Ambreen Zafar, and Ms. Saleha, the workshop covered techniques to convert negative stress into positive stress, tapping methods to manage stress, and mindfulness techniques. Attendees, including faculty members and students, left with valuable tools to overcome stress and maintain emotional well-being.
