The Regional Da’wah Centre (Sindh), Karachi, of Da’wah Academy, International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI), organized a one-day seminar titled “The Da’wah Role of Media: Caution and Methodology.” The event brought together university students and graduates from religious seminaries.
Speakers emphasized the effective and responsible use of social media in the field of Islamic preaching (Da’wah). Dr. Mahmood Ghaznavi, Head of the Department of Mass Communication at the University of Karachi, noted that social media has emerged as a powerful tool, free from traditional restrictions, and thus requires careful and ethical use to preserve social values. He highlighted that modern communication platforms can be effectively used to spread the message of Islam.
Dr. Syed Iftikhar Gilani from the University of Sothern Punjab, Multan, stressed that sincerity and a gentle approach are key to successful Da’wah. Drawing from his international experience, he shared practical insights into how young people can engage positively in this field.
Dr. Syed Aziz-ur-Rehman, In-charge of the Regional Da’wah Centre (Sindh), Karachi, stated that social media should not only be used for sharing information but also for promoting ethical and reformative content. He cautioned against spreading rumors, unverified information, and sectarian content, urging a responsible approach in digital communication.
The seminar concluded with closing remarks and appreciation from Assistant Professor Dr. Shehzad Channa, who acknowledged the participation of students and scholars and encouraged continued involvement in meaningful Da’wah activities.
