A one-day seminar titled “Modern Research Trends and Our Da’wah Responsibilities” was organized by the Regional Da’wah Center (Sindh), Karachi, a subsidiary of Da’wah Academy, International Islamic University Islamabad.
In his opening remarks, Dr. Syed Aziz-ur-Rehman, In-charge of the Regional Da’wah Center, highlighted the importance of research on manuscripts and textual analysis. He emphasized that while significant work has been done on manuscripts in the Arab world, there is still a strong need for research on both manuscripts and texts in local contexts.
Dr. Atif Aslam Rao, a faculty member at the University of Karachi, discussed the importance of studying both textbooks and broader literature for serious academic research. He stressed the necessity for researchers to be well-acquainted with primary and secondary sources, noting their central role in Islamic scholarship.
Hafiz Shariq from Federal Urdu University spoke on comparative religion, urging scholars to select topics that reflect contemporary issues. He pointed out that modern readers, especially youth, seek well-structured and reasoned discussions on world religions. He also highlighted the importance of accessing primary sources for a broader and deeper understanding.
The seminar concluded with a question-and-answer session. Dr. Shahzad Channa, Assistant Professor at the Regional Da’wah Center, moderated the event. The seminar was attended by university students, religious scholars, and graduates from various seminaries. Refreshments were served at the end of the program.
