A seminar titled “Comparative Literature and Its Role in Bringing Cultures Closer” was held online by the Faculty of Arabic Language, Female Campus, with participation from professors and researchers. This event was organized by the Faculty under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Fadlullah, Dean of the Faculty, and under the supervision of Dr. Samia Nazish, Chairperson of the Faculty of Arabic (Female Section).
This seminar concluded a series of events organized during the Spring 2025 Academic and Cultural Season, which spanned four months (from Saturday, 15 February 2025 to Saturday, 3 May 2025).
The initiative aimed to encourage research among postgraduate students and to highlight the role of women in contributing to society and promoting the Arabic language—the language of the Qur’an and Sunnah.
A group of scholars from Al-Azhar University presented six seminars during the season. The first seminar, Semantic Studies Between Classical and Modern Scholars: A Foundational Approach, was delivered by Prof. Dr. Ahmed Abdul-Mardi, Dean of the Faculty of the Holy Qur’an, Al-Azhar University. On the same day, Prof. Dr. Essam Farouk Imam Ahmed, Former Vice Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Al-Azhar University, presented a seminar titled Reviving Heritage and Modern Linguistic Studies.
The third seminar, The Concept of Discourse Between Arabic Rhetoric and Text Linguistics (An Analytical Perspective of Concept, Function, and Purpose), was delivered by Prof. Dr. Saleh Ahmed Abdul-Wahab, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, Al-Azhar University. The fourth seminar, The Role of Women in Building Societies, was delivered by Prof. Dr. Nahla Al-Saeedi, Advisor to the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar for Foreign Students’ Affairs. The fifth seminar, A Semantic and Rhetorical Reading of a Qur’anic Text (Selected Verses from Surah Yusuf as a Model), was conducted by Prof. Dr. Aziza Al-Sayfi, Member of the Academic Promotion Committee, Al-Azhar University.
The final seminar, titled Comparative Literature and Its Role in Bringing Cultures Closer, was conducted by Dr. Nafisa Mohamed Abdel-Fattah, Assistant Professor of Literature and Criticism, Al-Azhar University.
These seminars received participation from within and outside the university and were regarded as successful in achieving the academic and research goals of the season.
At the conclusion of the series, Prof. Dr. Fatima Rajab Al-Bajouri, who moderated the seminars, expressed her gratitude to the female faculty members for their work in supporting research, maintaining attendance, and coordinating the visits of guest speakers. She thanked the team who prepared the seminars, including Dr. Fouzia Mir Taj, Dr. Amara Gulzar, and Researcher Khawla Tariq. She offered prayers for their continued success and asked Almighty Allah to accept their work.
