The Department of History and Pakistan Studies at the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) organized a seminar titled “From Pahalgam to Ceasefire: The Current State and Future of India-Pakistan Relations” on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at the Faculty of Social Sciences.
The keynote address was delivered by Professor Dr. Husnul Amin, Director of the National Institute of Pakistan Studies (NIPS), Quaid-i-Azam University. He provided a detailed overview of the historical context, current dynamics, and future trajectory of India-Pakistan relations.
Dr. Amin underscored the importance of sustained dialogue and regional cooperation, noting that academic forums can play a critical role in fostering peace-oriented thinking among youth. He emphasized that learning from history and encouraging informed discourse are essential for addressing longstanding tensions between the two countries.
The seminar included active participation from faculty, students, and researchers, and featured a lively question-and-answer session that further explored regional issues and diplomatic efforts.
Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. Manzoor Khan Afridi, delivered the closing remarks, appreciating the relevance of the discussion and commending the department for organizing a timely academic engagement.
The event was part of the department’s ongoing efforts to promote critical analysis and dialogue on key geopolitical challenges in South Asia.
